Karen, Congratulations. You have to feel so glad that you felt the need to check and double check. So at 6 weeks, your HCG levels were low and would not show positive on a pregnancy test. I have not had a period for 6 months (I usually go every three) and this past week I started this brown spotting only on tissue. I have never done this before. I think I am having some pregnancy symptoms but it could just be in my head. I have done this for 6 years before my twins were born. So I think I want it so bad that I make myself think things. However, I have never done that spotting. I have taken two home tests and both have been negative. I have an appt. on the 16th. Seems a long time to wait. I just have never really had much luck with hp tests. I have never really had enough hcg to show up on any of my miscarriages, only when I was on clomid and was pregnant with twins. Anyways, congratulations and I will keep you in my prayers.

Karen, whew, what a story....just goes to show that medical science is not always so exact...and that it's a good idea not to hurry into things just because one doctor tells us it's the correct decision. I had a friend who, at 6 weeks pregnant didn't see a hearbeat, and the doctor ordered a D & C for the next day. I begged her to wait, and/or get a second opinion, however, my friend said she trusted her doctor and that if that's what he said, she was going to do it. I almost felt like this was malpractice...on top of it all, my friend stopped talking to me after that because she thought I wasn't "supportive." I think a part of her was unsure of the pregnacy (it was unplanned)..so maybe it was her way out, I don't know. Anyway, stories like Karen's are not so uncommon, and thankfully, her doctor was sensitive enough to her state of mind (if nothing else) to do the right thing. If only all doctors could be as competent. CATE: you've been on my mind, how are you doing?

I just found out I was pregnant Feb 18. My hpt came back positive, but it wasnt even time for my perios yet. I only took the test because of my friends intuition. This last weekend I began to bleed and my hcg at the ER came back only 36.1. I am pretty shook up because I just had a miscarriage like 5 months ago. reading all of your questions and stories is very reassuring for me. Im going to the doctors tomorrow for another hcg test, but I am already doubting that it will be any higher. I do hope the best for all of you.

Tamara: I'm praying for you. I am roughly 6 1/2 weeks but my doc measured me gest sac at 5-6weeks. He says it has grown from last week but he did discuss the possiblity of a miscarriage. My 2 hcg levels were drawn at two different labs 7 days apart and they were 165 and 368. Still very low but we repeated them today. I'll find out the results tomorrow. I also saw an empty gestational sac but my fingers are crossed for me and you that our gestational sacs won't be empty for long. I had artificial insemination so I am sure of my timing. I don't have any cramping, bleeding or spotting and I am still hopeful. Please keep us all posted on your progress. You are definitely in thoughts and prayers.

Stacie..thank you for that. And I want to tell all of you thank you for sharing your stories. It comforts me and helps me. I go to the dr. tomorrow (7 weeks/5 days) for another u/s and hcg blood test. I sure hope we something in that sac! I am sure it would show by now.....almost 8 weeks!!!! Unless there is someone out there who can tell me to wait, I am thinking of just doing the dnc (if the sac is empty) and get my body ready for another try. We did IVF and have plenty of good eggs frozen. So..I will let you all know tomorrow. Very nervous............

I feel like I know everyone personally after reading everyones' stories. Well, here is mine. My 1st preg I miscarried at 11 week, 4 months later I was preg again. We have a beautiful 17mon boy. I will be 5 wk preg tomorrow. Last Fri my HCG was 1420 w/ high progesterone levels. Monday my HCG was only 1468, but progesterone levels still very high. I go back tomorrow for HCG. Will not be able to do u/s until next week. Has anyone had this happen to them? Like everyone else I hate the waiting. I hope everyone is doing well.

stacy - March 9th, 2005 9:20 AM

Debbie: Did you have your labs drawn at the same place? My first hcg was 165 then 7 days later at 5 weeks pregnant it was only 368. They were drawn at 2 different labs and I read that each lab may interpret the levels a little different. I received my hcg levels yesterday 7 days after the second one and it was 1971 which showed a 75% increase every 2 days and I am now 6 - 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. You need another level done, its difficult to tell from just those two tests because maybe there was a lab error or your body is a little different. I read 85% of women have their hcg levels double every 48-72 hours. That leaves 15% of women to not follow the norm. Good luck and keep us all posted on your progress.

Stacy, thank you for your reply. I did get the hcg levels test at the same place. I just got back from having them tested again. Now it is just a waiting game. I am not bleeding, but I do have very mild cramping. I'll let you know what the results say when I receive them later today. Thank you for you support.

Ok girls...well, I went today for another u/s and blood test. Still empty sac at 7 weeks 5 days. Its exact cause we did IVF. My hcg level is 27,626. Sac just keeps growing. I am having the dnc done today in 1 1/2 hrs. I just want it all over with. I am exhausted. Its only our first try w/ IVF though.....we we have plenty of tries left. Good luck to all of you.

Hey Jen,
Thank you for your response. the last time I was on the suppositories and I was in my fifth week so I still miscarried. Now the dr. that I see has me taking a lessor dose (100mg) but orally. I'm also on folic acid and baby aspirin. I'm still feeling a little bit pain (bearable) on my lower right side. Its just scary because I've miscarried every single year from 1994. I just got my count from my dr. today and my hcg was 1490 and prog. 7.4. see it's always low. I take more blood tomorrow and they are going to use those numbers to compare to see if my progesterone is my problem. They also took alot of test and cultures to look for infections, etc.... so please pray for me. I really need some hope.

Tamara..I am so sorry to hear that.. You will be in my prayers.. and please keep me posted on how you are doing! {{Big Hugz}}

Tamara - March 9th, 2005 10:52 PM

Amy...thank you so much. The dnc went great. Woke up with no pain and still no pain all day. Just very sleepy and of course I am bleeding, to be expected. I feel great about my decision, it was time. And I know someday soon I will have a little one. We are trying again after a normal period and we are putting 4 eggs in next time. So..I am excited. Thank you to all of you for posting....I really loved reading all of your stories...they really helped!!!

Tamara - March 11th, 2005 11:02 AM

I had my dnc done 2 days ago (wed). I was 7 weeks/5 days and still an empty sac with nothing at all inside and no heartbeat whatsoever. I asked for the dnc to get it all out so I could start over sooner. I was not even beginning to miscarry, the sac just kept growing! I dont have any pain or bleeding at all from my procedure. I am glad to move on and we are going to put 4 eggs in next time. (IVF). Good luck to all of you!

Patti - March 12th, 2005 6:23 PM

Thank you ladies! I feel like I can relate to what you all are going through! Each week seems like 5 years. I am 5 weeks pregnant and don't seem to be getting any answers. My labs are at 14 days dpo HCG 105 and progesterone 29, 16 dpo hcg 222 and progesterone 28, 18 dpo hcg 528 and progesterone 22. My dr does not want to put me on progesterone supp until I drop below 14. I don't have a lot of symptoms. Breast tenderness that comes and goes and I had pain in right ovary that seems to have gone away. This is my husband and my first pregnancy and I am so scared. I feel like I can't accomplish anything. I am obsessed with finding out! Please help!

Tamara - March 13th, 2005 12:49 PM

Patti, your hcg #'s are doubling like they are supposed to, so unless you have other concerns, I would enjoy your pregnancy!!! Mine were very low to start with, but kept doubling every 3 days. They were just low in the beginning. so far yours look great!
