Hey all. Your stories have been incredibly touching and educating. I have a 3 yr old little girl and my husband and I just found out that we are pregnant. I am about 4-5 wks. I never really paid attention to all the details before, with my daughter I mean. I had one miscarriage before her and it was incredibly traumatic. I still think about it more often than I thought I would all these years later. Everything seems to be going well so far but my first blood test came back with prog at 23.3 which they said was good but my HcG was 86.4 which they said was low. I am trying to figure out what the levels are supposed to be at 4-5 wks. I ovulate early and I know I conceived on January 15th so Sunday will be 5 wks since conception. I just tool my second set of tests and i am waiting to hear back. they said that they would like to see the levels in the high 1000 to 2000 range. does anyone have any insight. should I be concerned. I am just so nervous because I remember how aweful it was and I am terrified to go through it again.

Here's my situation, can anyone relate with a similiar case. The DPO are obviouisly off but here's my HCG levels, at 17 DPO HCG was 294, at 21 DPO 924, at 28 DPO 2683 and 35 DPO 4560. My numbers started out good but then did not continue to double within the 'normal' timeframe. At my first u/s (sac measured 6 weeks) we could not see a baby. Five days later I had another u/s and expected to be scheduling a D&C but we saw a baby and heartbeat, baby measured six weeks. We are very causiously optimistic and will go back in two weeks for another u/s. My doctor has been VERy supportive and would not consider a D&C after the first u/s because he said you just never know, and he was right. We're not out of the woods yet obviously but I was curious if anyone else had really slow rising betas and went on to have a normal pregnancy and most of all a healthy baby.

I am also in same boat, as per 1st day of my last period I should be 8 week pregnant but my ultrasound and HCG levels shows I am between 3-4 weeks. I took blood test today morning again and will find out next week what’s going on. I have still not lost my faith but I have definitely lost faith in the way American Health system works. I found out that I am pregnant at 5th week when I met my physician she conformed JUST by URINE test - in spite of me asking her to do HCG she didn’t do it, she referred me to OB and they were not ready to see me till 8th week, I asked them too about HCG testing they said you don’t need HCG test and they don’t do it they just do ultrasound. Now on my 8th week appointment they are telling me that from ultra sound I am only between 3-4 weeks pregnant and ordered HCG test, IT is so dumb of SUTTER medical group. I don’t want this to happen another women. It is hard for someone to build a dream and then find out the ugly reality

Good News.... my miscarriage is complete... YEY! Im glad thats all over with. Pregnancy Test comes out negitive. I hope u girls are all doing ok.

LauraP- have they retested your progesterone to see if they went down or sustained,etc.? 23 is really good!!! __M__ hey, what about your progesterone?? have they done any testing with that?? HCG and progesterone work together... taking progesterone supplements can increase your HCG.. Just something to look into. :) Good luck! __Hope- the same thing happened with mine. I knew I had to be about 7-8 weeks and the ultrasound showed 4 weeks... and when I was at 12 weeks, the ultrasound showed 7 weeks. Wasn't growing much, heart stayed at a flicker for 3 weeks and never got better and then finally stopped. Ended up having a D&C... yes, the best thing to do is to keep checking your HCG along with the ultrasound. My HCG stopped doubling like it was supposed to and like it did in the beginning.

well, I started bleeding saturday morning ( went off the progesterone on tuesday) but very very little - just when i wipe. sometimes its a very light pink but most of the time its a very dark yellow/brown colour, or none at all. I tried all week last week to get hold of my doc and couldn't, so i'm gonna take your previous advice daniella and go to the e.r. cos they still haven't ruled out ectopic and i am having light cramps. I finally told my dad (he's a doc himself and trained for 2 years in gynecology before switching to anesthesiology) and he said that some people don't feel an ectopic until it bursts, so he wants me monitored. Luckily, i found out that my insurance has there own private emergency room, with the gynecology section operating 24/7, so i won't have to wait a million hours. My husbands not keen on me getting a d&c cos he still has hope that something is there.....well, pray for me. so hoew are you all doing?

Britney- I thought they seen 3 sacs in your uterus?? If so, why would you think ectopic?? Just wondering.... Oh wow, I really hope you get some answers. Have they done anymore retesting your HCG?? WHy did you stop the progesterone?? If you stop them cold turkey (before 12 weeks.. but, usually before 10 weeks) you will force a miscarriage. Once you start them, you have to keep taking them until the baby can produce it on his/her own, which is about 10 weeks, but completely by 12 weeks. Also, you can get a pink discharge from the progesterone which is normal. Not sure about the brown.... yet, like we were saying.. if they did see 3 sacs, you may be miscarrying one or 2 of them... so, you never know.. one could make it.. but DONT stop the progesterone. Its keep the lining of your uterus thick, and right now (especially since your bleeding) you need it as thick as possible. Yea, I would go to the ER and say hey, "I want another ultrasound and my quants taken ASAP".. Good luck!!!!!! :) Post after... I'll be praying for you!!

Hi Daniella... well the news is not so good, i was good and ectopic. The fact that they didn't pick it up earlier is astounding as i had a 5 by 5 CENTIMETRE (not mm) sac , with a fetus inside in my right tube and measured 9 weeks. the doctors were in shock that it hadn't burst and that i wasn't feeling any pain. but the tube was completely damaged beyond repair and they had to remove it. We used literally the top doctor in the country for this (protectsia of my dad). he said he would have done a laparoscopy 3 weeks ago and that it was obvious that those three dots were nothing, taking into account my hcg levels. Basically, i had a bit of a negligent doc. So this new one told us to call him the second we know we're pregnant again(G-d willing), and he'll monitor it straight through. Pray for us to get pregnant soon! and good luck Daniella and all the other mums to be. and as a P.S to anyone out there who is in the same situation, ie, they don't see any normal looking developement inside the uterus GET IT CHECKED WITH THE HIGHEST MACHINES POSSIBLE!!! my old docs one was a piece of junk. leatn from my mistake!

Britney- Wow!!!! I am so glad that it didn't rupture. I was 7 weeks in my right tube when it ruptured... lost 5.5 pints of blood, my blood pressure was 69/16 and almost lost my life. The only difference is, I had no idea I was pregnant (unlike you)... Your doctor sounds like an idoit and could have put you in danger (heck, he did). That makes me angry... the plus side is that tube was probably not working properly anyhow, hence the fact that it got stuck in it.... but you have another one!! Did they scope that one to see how well it is?? When I had my right tube removed they said my left tube was text book perfect. Well... I got pregnant 3 times in 3 years after the surgery. Yea, I lost 2 of the 3, but tube unrelated... and the 3rd I am now 28 weeks preggo today. So, don't lose hope!!!! As I said before, and will say again... my last pregnancy I got pregnant from ovulating from my right ovary (I assume they left your ovary)... and my left tube sucked in the egg and I coceived that way. So, even without that tube, your other tube can take that egg in. :) Its like a vaccumm. lol... Well, I am glad you finally found out everything you need to know. I am horribly sorry for what you had to go through. Stay strong woman!!!! You will be blessed!!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss -- I understand completely what you're going through. I had two ectopics in my left side and now finally had my left tube removed -- we're trying to get pregnant again, but I'm SO scared of going through this again. Daniella, did they tell you that although your remaining tube looked good, you were still at a higher risk of ectopic simply because you had one?

Julie- no, not at all.... of course each time I got pregnant after the surgery... I had to go in right away to make sure it was in the uterus... but, my chances of another ectopic weren't any different then a standard woman. My right tube probably just had issues but, like I said, when I had the right one removed they said my left one was text book perfect. Although, each time I felt pain... I would freak out. lol... only normal when you almost lost your life and have gone thru this. Did they tell you how your other one looked?? If they couldn't find out when you had your surgery... they can do that dye thing..... where they give you dye and then xray your tube(s) to see how well its flowing. Just something to look into if you want to know how well its working. :)

Yes, they did the dye x-ray thing after my first ectopic and my right side looked great! And, your story is so encouraging!!! I had two doctors tell me that you don't need to ovulate from one side to get pregnant on that side, but I was pretty skeptical until I heard it worked for you! Thanks for sharing.

Julie- yea, my doctor said the same thing and I didn't really believe it until it happened. It was 100% fact that my right ovary spit out the egg on my last pregnancy. lol. The ovary and tube aren't connected and the tube(s) are constantly moving... plus the tubes have a sucking motion like a vacuum and if the ovary spits out an egg the one tube you have remaining can suck it in. The wonders of a female body. LOL> At least you know that your remaining tube is working just fine. :)

Thanks for all your comments ladies. Its amazing how much support you can get from people you don't know! I'm starting to feel alot better. The incisions don't hurt but they full your abdomen up with carbon dioxide and the only way to get rid of it is by it getting absorbed back into your blood, and then you breathe it out. so right now i'm very gasy, but thats all that hurts. I'm just so relieved this whole ordeal is over. they didn't do a d&c, but i'm not bleeding heavier than a regular period, since there are no remnants of pregnancy in my uterus. Daniella, did you get your hcg levels checked until zero after your laparoscopy? cos thay didn't tell me to. i will anyway cos i wanna know when i ovulate next. the doctor checked my left tube and said it looked perfect. he did say though that my chances of having another ectopic are more than a woman who hasn't had - 15% chance. BUT....its still 85% that it won't, so lets be cautious but look on the bright side. JULIE.... I'm so sorry you had to go thru this too. how long ago was it? I really hope you get pregnant again soon.... at least we know we can get pregnant. thats alot of the problem solved! good luck!

Hello Ladies.... HI Danielle... Sorry I haven't been around for a while. (school, Kids, and work...lol) I just wanted to drop a few cooments for Britney and Julie. Danielle is absolutely right the female body is quite amazing. In the last 2.5 years, I myself have had one tube rupture from ectopic and left horribly damaged, and the other rupture from heterotopic ( one in tube , one in uterine) and lost both embryo /f etuses and my tube. Had to have a blood transfusion, and lost mt tube. I woke to the doctor telling me after almost losing my life twice from this situation, that because I only had one tube left the was so severly damaged I will not be abble to concieve ever again ....... WELL..... By the grace of GOD HIMSELF.... I have the the most absolutely beautiful 3 month old daugher in the world. MY pregnancy was quite the battle I was told I was going to mis-carry 3 different times by different doctors. But I help out hope and kept my chin up. And to my delight her she is. Anything is possible if you want it badly enough. And will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Don't give up, it will work out for you eventually.

hi all just sending you an update.. if you all remember me lol my hcg level was low a while back at 270! well i went back and my numbers more than doubled at 697!! so right now my dr's are not too worried. they are just having me go back at 7 weeks pregnant which i hit 6weeks 1day today. I am excited and if i am estimating right my hcg levels should now be over 5000. Thanks all for your support. My 1st appt is Feb 22nd.
