I'm now 30 weeks into my first pregnancy and was told I have a low lying placenta about 6 weeks ago. I'm completely freaking out now and I'm reading way too much on the subject, which is only worrying me more. My latest fear is placenta abrutio, when the placenta detaches from the uterus. Can someone help calm me down?

I had this same problem with my first child. Its called something like placenta previa (not sure if thats the correct spelling) dont get over worked up. Mine moved before the end of my pregnancy. My sister and mother both had this problem and it corrected itself in my sisters case as for my mother no U/S were available back then so she was unaware until she delivered the placenta before my brother. Hope this helps.

Hello to you both; Had my 19 week u/s and was also told that my placenta was low. It is not placenta previa (where the placenta covers the cervix), at least in my case. I read that in most cases, the placenta goes up by itself, when the uterus stretches. Renay, try not to freak out (I know it's hard); they may put you on bedrest, but you're already further along. When is your next u/s?
