Low HCG Numbers

Hello, I have no idea how far along I am. My doctor does not seem very optimistic since my HCG was 33 on 1/9 and 37 on 1/11. But I am trying to stay hopeful. I go back again today, so we will see. |

Just popping in to say HI & just remind everyone to never lose HOPE & FAITH! After a rough road in July & August, resulting in miscarriage, we just kept praying that our little miracle would come & it looks like it has. I am now 10 1/2 weeks pregnant & so far, so good! Saw the baby's heartbeat on 12/22 & again on 1/13. Due to have another scan on Friday to get some measurements. Can't wait to get past the 12 week hump, but it's looking pretty good so far. All of my previous misses have been around 8-9 weeks (I've had 5). So, I can sympathize with many of you, but the main thing is to stay positive & know that when the time is right it will happen for you! Baby Dust Sprinkles to Everyone XOXO...& thanks to all of you regulars out there for your kind words & support. |

Hi, I've posted here several times before. I've had 2 miscarriages--last one in Sept. Its very difficult being the one around here w/ no child. I keep getting invited to baby showers. The doctor put me on Clomid. I just dinished the first cycle. I got my AF on Thursday. It was very depressing. I know---everyone tells me---its just the first round. Yes, but it feels like its just one disappointment after another. I have to stay positive. I just want to be pregnant. I just want others to understand, but they don't. They all have children. I feel so obsessed with this. I just want one of my own that looks a little like my husband and a little like me. I have so much love and affection waiting for it. I just hope I don't have to wait years and years. Good luck to all of you. Anyone ever been on clomid? What were your results? |

Hello, this is my second time posting here. I posted last in December when my HCG numbers were low. My low numbers ended up in a miscarriage. I am going to try my fifth and last attempt at IVF in March. For those of you with low HCG numbers don't give up hope. When I met with my doctor after my miscarriage he said that he has had women with reallly low HCG numbers who have ended up being pregnant with twins. So please ladies don't give up hope. I am hoping and praying that March will be the lucky month for me. The rest of you are in my thoughts and prayers. |

lesnj, i don't know if this will help you or not, but i thought i'd share my story. Especially since I'm just sitting at home waiting to go to my 4 o'clock appt to get an injection of methotrexate. This is because I was just diagnosed yesterday with an ectopic pregnancy. I really hope and pray that this is not what's going on with you, but your situation sounds a lot like mine and I know how frustrating it was for me the last week. According to my dates, I should be 8 wks today (last LMP was 12/14). I went to the doctor on Tuesday, 1/31 because I had some spotting over the weekend and had a vaginal u/s in which there was no sac, no heartbeat, nothing. At that time, I should've been 6 wks 6 days which means something should've showed up. I was sooooo upset. My doctor told me that I would probably miscarry and I would start bleeding in a few days. Well I started bleeding that day and it did not stop until this past Sunday. I'd also had cramping off and on, sometimes pretty bad. I had bloodwork done to check my hcg levels and it came back 1853. I went back that following Thursday (48 hrs later) for more bloodwork to see if the numbers would go up or down. I expected them to go down since I figured the bleeding and cramping meant that my body was going through the process of miscarriage. However, the number went up to 2494. And then it went up again on Monday to 3974. Yes, the hcg level went up instead of down, but at the same time, did not double as it should have if this was a healthy pregnancy. I was confused, frustrated, and scared all at the same time. I wanted to be excited, but I just didn't know what is going on, and neither did my dr. When I went back yesterday for another vaginal ultrasound, there was still nothing. I was sent to a radiologist for a more detailed u/s and they confirmed an ectopic pregnancy. Like I said I’m scheduled to get the methotrexate injection in about an hour. I’m having mixed emotions about my situation. I’m extremely sad about the loss of my little angel, but I need to get through this experience and come out healthy enough to try again. I really hope things work out for you. Never give up hope. Check out the website www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.-com. I read a lot of miracle stories three that gave me a lot of hope during the looooooooong wait. Good luck to you. |

nikki_j i am so sorry to hear about your situation. my prayers are with you. it's crazy the things we have to go through to have something so precious that others take for granted. thank you for that web stie it's really good. it gives me some hope but i guess i won't know for sure until i have my blood work back. there is something in my heart that tells me i am still pg. i could be wrong and that's ok but i really need to know for sure. my dr also thought it was an ectopic pregnancy but because my hcg dropped she dismissed that thought. |

Hi friends, |

Here's my situation, can anyone relate with a similiar case. The DPO are obviouisly off but here's my HCG levels, at 17 DPO HCG was 294, at 21 DPO 924, at 28 DPO 2683 and 35 DPO 4560. My numbers started out good but then did not continue to double within the 'normal' timeframe. At my first u/s (sac measured 6 weeks) we could not see a baby. Five days later I had another u/s and expected to be scheduling a D&C but we saw a baby and heartbeat, baby measured six weeks. We are very causiously optimistic and will go back in two weeks for another u/s. My doctor has been VERy supportive and would not consider a D&C after the first u/s because he said you just never know, and he was right. We're not out of the woods yet obviously but I was curious if anyone else had really slow rising betas and went on to have a normal pregnancy and most of all a healthy baby. |

My specialist said that they only see a heartbeat 1/2 of the time at 6 weeks so your 1st u/s was not surprising & seeing the heartbeat at your following u/s is a very good sign! I was told by my Dr. & also read it somewhere that the chances of miscarriage drop significantly after the HB is seen. Everyone's hcg levels increase at different rates...so don't worry. I would concentrate more on what the ultrasounds are showing. Just take it easy & take good care of yourself. Try not to worry ...I know, easier said than done but I'm excited about your little heartbeat, and you should be too! Good luck, I'll be praying for you & all of you in the same boat. XOXO |

Krissy, thanks so much for your email and your support and prayers. Believe me, I was so shocked yesterday when I saw that heart beat. My doctor isn't going to do any more betas because they're just stressing me out and he also said that u/s is the "tell all" now. I'll update back in two weeks. thanks again for your post and prayers! |

I have been reading this thread for a few months. I was really hoping I would be one of the lucky ones who could write a story of good news. However, my story does not end well. I am 25 yrs. old and I have a wonderful 3&1/2 year old son from my first marriage. My first pregnancy was uneventful. However, I have had three miscarriages since my new husband and I started trying to have a baby 9 months ago. Each time I have conceived easily (on the first try) but at nine weeks the ultrasounds have shown an empty sac measuring only 6 weeks. The first miscarriage was natural, the second I had a D&C, and I just found out about the third on Feb. 7th so we are waiting to see if things will happen naturally. With the last pregnancy my HCG was 33 at 4weeks3days but 3 days later it was 191 and 3 days after that it went up to 987. We thought the pregnancy might be viable because the numbers were rising appropriatly. However, an ultrasound at 9 weeks showed an empty sac measuring 6 weeks (just like the previous two mc). We are going to see a geneticist and a reproductive endocrinologist in a few weeks. Has anyone had a similar experience? How long does the workup take? What was the outcome? Is there any hope we will have another baby? |

I have been just told I am pregnant. when I told the nurse that I was having a period which was heavy and clotting. She then called me back and said I may have and ectopic pregnancy. I went for a blood test and another nurse called me and said by progesterone was good and my beta levels are rising. I am confused nbecause the first nurse prepared me for an ectopic and the second nurse gave me hope. I have stopped bleeding it was like a normal period. I have to go back for another test in two days. So right now I feel I have a 50/50 chance of a normal pregnacy. Or the two nurses dont know what they are talking about. Can anyone help? |
