I have been reading everyone's posts on here. This is really scaring me! I have had the Mirena for 3 and a half years! I have had nothing but complications with it and I hate it!! When I first got it I had a period non-stop for almost a year..and when I say non-stop I mean it. I would have maybe a 2 day break before my period would start again and then it would last for about 3 weeks!! They had to put me back on the pill along with Mirena to get my periods back regular and it worked. Once I came off the pill everything was fine! About 5 or 6 weeks ago my fiance was home for leave. I was on my period for about 4 days and it was normal but I haven't had a period since and my breasts have been hurting off and on like I'm pregnant. I've never had them hurt except when I was pregnant with my daughter. They have hurt so bad that getting a shower and having water on them hurt! I have had severe headaches, intolerable pains to where I couldn't even drive and they would bring tears in my eyes! I have also noticed that I'm more bloated than normal, have also had nausea and increased appetite on some days and decreased on others. I've been craving sweet pickles and Mexican food like CRAZY! I haven't taken a test yet. I can tell that my Mirena is moving around cause I will check it from time to time and notice that the knot the doctor put on strings is either too far out or isn't there cause it moved up! Not to mention when I tell people I'm on the Mirena they all told me they know a hand full of people that got pregnant on it. My daughter was a birth control baby. I'm also getting heartburn and I rarely get heartburn! I don't know what's going on but I do know that as soon as my fiance and I get married I am having it removed immediately! I like not having to worry about taking a pill or putting on a patch but I would much rather do that than deal with all these complications from the Mirena. I'm not suppose to have it removed til Jan 2012 but I'm not waiting any longer! Sex hasn't been the same. I can tell the difference. I feel like I'm pregnant. None of my clothes fit the same! I'm only 22 and having all these complications! This sucks!

I've read all this posts and am scared. I had the Mirena put in 12/08 due to fibroids, heavy periods, and I have 5 kids(3 biol., 2 step kids) and dont want any more. I have been having pregnancy symptoms-weight gain, cravings, extreme fatigue, and get this, movements(flutters, light kicks) in my stomach that are similar to when I had my other kids. What the hell is going on! I took two tests, one actually this morning and they both were negative. I called my OB and they said they would not see me until I had a positive test. But something isn't right. Believe I dont have this thing to want to be pregnant. I battled post-partum depression 07-08 from last pregnancy and don't want more kids. I dont know what to do and am scared. I thought today, maybe it is just gas, but something isnt right. I am going to call my PCP and got a blood test. This is too stressful. Anyone have any ideas

I have Mirena...i have had it about a year and a half now i am only 19 years old and have 2 kids my and my boyfriend are getting married when he gets home from basic training..he is the father of both my kids and we are not ready to have anymore...we are to young and still have to get a house...its been about 3 months since he left and im now having pregnencey symtoms again...well normal ones for me i think...im having really horriable cramps worse then normal and im sick to my stomach...one day i will eat all day and then the next i wont be hungey...i have headachs everyday and my stomach is starting to feel kinda hard and im really scared i need to kno if this is normal for mirena or if i should go back to my doctor...i went for the cramps and he said he didnt kno what was wrong and said that he thought the birthcontrol was in place but he didnt kno and i havent had any bleeding since my boyfriend is gone....i really need help!!!

I have had a pregnancy with the mirena. I was over a week late and took a test and it showed Negitive. I started to hurt really bad and went to the hospital. They did blood tests and I was 3 weeks pregnant.My Dr said that she has seen that the mirena will give you a false negitive. So if you are hurting really bad and the string have moved go to the er or to your obgyn.I lost my twins bc I had it remove to soon. I hope this help people out.

I have discovered several interesting facts since last times i posted here. I started to eat more and I started to make sure I get enough calories every day. I gained about two pounds and my period came back. it was perfectly on time! (every 30 days!) for three months! still i was worried about my extra fat, so I decided to experiment with my diet and went raw, I now eat fresh fruits and vegetables only. in three weeks I lost 8 pounds. so, now I know that "Mirena fat" (I called it so, thinking it was caused by the high dosage of hormons in Mirena)is removable! BUT! another thing I have learned was that MY PERIOD SToPPED AGAIN! so, it seems to me that when my weight is under 138lb, my period stoppes... confused...

Do some research on the mirena. There are many of these complaints from women and they aren't pregnant. But, like I said, do research. There are so many of these complaints I think they are just side effects. That's why I got the paragard instead of the mirena. It has no hormones and only a few side effects. I think the next side effects are hair loss. The mirena has had a lot of problems, most people get it removed after a year.

OK SO LIKE MANY OF YOU I ALSO AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE MIRENA! LATELY I HAVE BEEN HAVING SYMPTOMS OF PREGNANCY BUT IN MY CASE ITS MUCH COMPLICATED BECAUSE I HAVE PCOS. IVE BEEN FEELING MORE TIRESOME, MORE BACKACHE, MY STOMACHE IS BLOATED OR "ROUNDED" FEELING, AND EVERYTIME I BURP I FEEL A LITTLE ACID REFLUX OF HEARTBURN. I GO TO THE DR TOMORROW FOR A 3MONTH CK UP FOR THE MIRENA SO I GUESS I'LL HAVE THEM DO A TEST, BUT IM SCARED!! IF YOU GO TO THE MIRENA WEBSITE IT SAYS THIS PRODUCT IS 99.9% AND IM NOT SO SURE. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME HAVING THE MIRENA IN 1 YR. THE 1ST I HAD IT THEY ASKED TO DO A ULTRASOUND AT THE 3MO. CK UP AND FOUND THAT THE MIRENA FELL HALF WAY DOWN MY UTERUS. SO IM HOPING THAT IT WAS A DR ERROR WITH THE FIRST ONE AND THIS ONE WILL BE IN PLACE AND IM NOT PREGNANT. ANYONE HAVE ANY COMMENTS??

how common is pregnancy with mirena?

I am also having some trouble with IUDs. I've had it in for 3 months and I have yet to have a period or any sign of any bleeding. I just had my second child 4 months ago. But I have been having some BAD cramps every so often and a foul smell (sorry) and by brests have been very sensitive, and my husband says I look pregnent again ( in the stomach) I had lost 10 lbs and with in a couple weeks gained 13 lbs. I don't know what's going on . Any ideas????
FYI - I am not a large girl I'm 23 and skinny everywhere but my stomach....

I have had the IUD for 7 yr. now. I had it put in when my daughter was 3 mo. old she is now 7 yr. old. I can not tell you how many times I have thought I was pregnant with the IUD. I have not had a REAL, 7 day, once a mo., period for 7 years now. I have a little spotting for about 3 days every 6 to 8 mo. then nothing again for another 6 to 8 mo. I am right now with the same thought as you, again. I have the metallic taste, tender breast, sleepiness and mood changes. I have took a test so many times over the past 7 yr. that I am really not thinking I am prego this time but ya never know. So I will once again take the test. I just want to let you know in my thoughts concerning this IUD. It must make your body "THINK" it is prego. cause, like I said, I have done this way to many times. But don't second guess about it, TAKE THE TEST! The risk are to high not to find out for sure.

I am so glad to find out that I am not the only one out there. I already have an almost 2 year old daughter and I now feel preggo. I had the Mirena put in May 27th and I have had a period up intill 2 months ago. I did not start to worry until a friend asked if I was preggo. I have gained 20 pounds, I want to eat all the time, I have to run to the restroom more often, and I have back pain. I started to do some research and come to find out more women get preggo while on Mirena then what doctors lead us to think. I took 2 hpt and both were negative. I am going to the doctor tomorrow morning to have a blood test done. I will update.

Update!

The blood test was negative. I think I am going to have my Mirena taking out. All the stress and worry is not worth it. I would rather shell out the money every month for the pill.
