Sharon- That seems a bit long to have to wait. I had one miscarriage and then when I got pregnant again my dr started me on supplementation right away. Same with my third pregnancy. Unfortunately that one ended in miscarriage but I am planning to use progesterone when I conceive again. Every dr seems to have a different opinion. Good luck to you.

Sandra - I am also 37 and I'm due August 30th. I'm probably about 1 week further along than you. I'm on progesterone three times a day. My levels have ranged from 14.5 - 19. Last week, my symptoms completely disappeared. I was making myself sick. I happened to have a dr's appointment last friday (two days after the symptoms disappeared). They did an ultrasound and everything was fine. My symptoms came back two days later. They actually went away again today. It's so difficult not to read so much into every little twinge.

am in 9th week of pregnancy. my BETA HCG result 4000 is it OK?

Sandra - January 27th, 2005 3:31 PM

Update: My doctor did an ultrasound this morning (they managed to fit me in) and said that the fetus measured at 5wks 6 days. I about died because I should be 8 weeks 4 days. There was a good strong heartbeat and everthing looked normal for a 6 week pregnancy. He said that he has seen all kinds of weird things before. He also said that it is possible this is a separate pregnancy. Which would mean that I had a miscarriage and ovulated again before I had a period. I did some calculating and oddly enough this is very possible. I won't go into all the details...but let's just say that it is a possiblity. I am trying not to get my hopes up to much. They took my HCG levels today and will again on Saturday to see if it is doubling. I hope that this is the case. It would be a weird one if it was! Sharon- I would get a different doctors opinion. That seems silly they won't put you on progesterone. Good luck.

I had IUI done 1/21/05 and 1/22/05. The nurse said everything looked good but I won't know until I take a pregnancy test on Feb. 4. They put me on progesterone suppositories for 16 days. Doesn't progesterone delay your period? In other words, if I miss my period next month, it could be due to the progesterone and not pregnancy, correct?

Carmela - January 27th, 2005 4:25 PM

What are the side effects from taking progesterone suppositories? I had IUI done last weekend and I started taking progesterone the same day. For the last few days, I have been nauseous and vomiting. Did any of you experience this when taking progesterone suppositories?

Sandra - January 27th, 2005 6:47 PM

Carmela- Don't worry so much about missing your period. If you discover you are pregnant then your doctor will most likely have you continue with the progesterone. If you are not then they will have you discontinue using the progesterone. Your hormone levels will drop and you should have a period.
I use the progesterone suppositories and do not have the problem with nausea and vomitting. I would check with your doctor. Hormones react differently in everyone. Good Luck. I hope you get a pregnancy out of this!

Becky- How are things going? Any news?

Lisa- Thanks for your input!

Sandra and everyone, thank you to all of you who have prayed for me and asked about me. I have terrific news. I had my US today and we saw a 7 week baby with a terrific heartbeat and healthy yolk sac!!. I couldn't believe my eyes when the image came up on the machine. I was just so positive that I would be leaving the doctors office crying. Do you know the same thing must have happened to me as did you. I took an ovulation prediction test and thought I should be 8 weeks pregnant and that it would be a blighted ovum but thank god everything looks okay. I am soo glad that you got to see the heartbeat as well. I know that the both of us will be holding our breaths until week 13 but one thing that makes me feel so much better is the fact that now that we have seen the heartbeats, our chances are terrific for having a healthy full-term pregnancy. My progesterone level was fabulous-28.5 and the doctor said as long as it doesn't go below 10.9 in the first trimester then they are happy. For those women who were asking about high progesterone levels, my doctor showed me the graph that they go by and their range for the 1st trimester is from 11.0 to something like 50 or more so there is quite a high range for that. Sandra thanks so much for asking about me and I am just so happy for you as well. Everybody hang in there and I will continue to pray for all and hope that week 13 comes very fast for all of us!

hey i am a IVF patient and today i went in for a blood test and my progesterone level was 28 what does that mean? i go in a week from today for a pregnancy test.

Ashley - January 28th, 2005 2:27 AM

Hi. This site has been so helpful for me. Good luck to all of you. I have a couple of questions I hope someone could help me with. I started using 50 mg progesterone suppositories twice a day on Monday (24th). I am 6 weeks 3 days. At 5 wks 2 days, my progesterone was 7.5. Have any of you had or heard of someone who had a successful pregnancy with a progesterone level that low? Also, have the suppositories made any of you spot? I had a little bit of spotting yesterday, just once, and was hoping it's due to vaginal irritation and not a sign of impending miscarriage. I go back to the Dr. Monday for a repeat progesterone test...Here's hoping for better numbers!!! And no more spotting!!!

Aussie - January 28th, 2005 3:00 AM

Nisha, this level indicates a strong ovulation.

nisha - January 28th, 2005 12:03 PM

hey its me again....well as for me i get my periods rarly so i was on BC pills then started all my meds for a ivf patient. i have had ivf done in oct and was not successful embryo tranfer on day 3. well i just recently did it again last week and this time used a frozen embryo and had it go to blastocyst stage and now its been 8 days, my progesterone was tested yesterday and it was 28 what does that mean? when my transfer was done inoct progesterone level was only like 10-12 and was not pregnant. with my level beinbg higher this time does it mean i am pregnant? i have to go for a preg test next thurs.....

Tina - January 28th, 2005 12:14 PM

Ashley- I have heard of levels that low and lower maintaining a pregnancy. Every dr seems to have a different threshold of comfort regarding prog levels. Hang in there and try not to worry (yeah right!)

Pamela - January 28th, 2005 3:04 PM

Sandra - Thanks so much for responding. Any information is helpful, considering we have been trying to conceive for 14 months. This was my first time trying IUI. Everything looked good: ovulating from Clomid (1 egg), hubbie's sperm count (28 after being washed). I feel weird because I have pregnancy symptoms, but it seems too soon to feel this way, so I was looking for something else that may be causing my nausea, vomitting, and abdominal cramps everyday. I would definitely hope it's due to pregnancy and not due to suppositories. Wish me luck!!
