what should your progestorone be on the 21st day of your cycle. if day 1 is the first day you start to bleed. i am trying to get pregnant and have had blood tests taken on this day?

I have spent the last hour reading these stories. I thought I would share my own. At 26 I became pregnant. At 6 weeks my progesterone was 12.2. I was put on 100mg prometrium, twice daily. At 7.5 weeks, we got a good heartrate on baby. Things were looking very normal. I had read that progesterone had little more than a placebo effect; I had two prior healthy pregnancies (albeit in my early 30's); and was worried about the stuff I had read re: trans-gender complications (and the big warning on the pill bottle that said don't take while pregnant). So, I stopped taking the drug at 8.5 weeks. My baby died at 10 weeks. I had no bleeding, but did notice a sudden lack of pregnancy signs. The D&C was bad. The guilt I carry is worse.

I am now pregnant and at 5.0 weeks and have a VERY low progesterone 7.84. I am religiously taking the prometrium, but I am afraid this pregnancy is already doomed. I read that anything under 10 can't make it. Does it have to be 10 all the time, or if you get it up to before miscarriage can it still work. I now think I should have been taking this since ovulation.
Anyway...I believe that my failure to continue with the prometrium the first time ended my pregnancy and I AM CONVICNCED the converse is true. It can save a pregnancy that is only failing because of lack of progesterone. So, keep the failth and keep taking those pills!

Any advice on my current situation. Has anyone ever recovered from an early level under 10?

I am 8 weeks, dr called today to say my progesterone is very low and wants to put me on supplements. I have not had any bleeding, spotting, cramps, nothing. Is there any questions I should ask the dr when I go on thursday. Anything will help,I am at at a complete loss. Thank you

Julie-The levels for progesterone for first trimester range from 9-47 so you are not too low. How long have you been taking the progesterone? Be adamant about having your doctor check your levels each weeks so that they can increase your dose right away. I think that If you are having no spotting or cramping that your level is sufficient. Remeber, these numbers are just averages-they are not set in stone. That is why the range is so great. Every person's pregnancy is different and this may well be a sufficient level for your body. Hang in there and just be real adamant on your care. Call your doctor anytime you have a concern. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I went for a u/s yesterday they told me that I'm only 6 weeks pregnant and that the baby's heartbeat just started about an hour or so before my appointment. They also said that they couldn't see a yolk sac and want me to come back next week for another u/s. I'm scared out of my mind

My doctor told me that my progestorone level had not increased from my 1st bloodwork on Mon. to a 2nd on that wed. of the same week. I just went back today and won't know until tomorrow. The waiting is killing me. He didn't tell me what my level was. I'm about 4ish weeks pregnant. No spotting or cramping. Is this normal for the progestorone # not to change in 2 day period?

Good Morning
I am happy to hear so many women with similar issues. I just recently did a transfer. I had a blood test done yesterday. The progesterone was 31. My Doctor told to stay on the progesterone, hopefully, I will get pregnant. I plan to continue to fast and pray because I know God has been so good to me. Good luck to you all. God Bless and remember, without faith, it is impossible to please God. You must have faith.

The dr. told me that I'm probably going to miscarry. I'm going to just sit around and wait for it to happen. My progestorone level is only 2.5 but my Hcg level is in the 4000's and rising...Please somebody help. Any suggestions.

Nicole - June 3rd, 2005 10:27 AM

Ooops there a typo in my last post. I meant that I'm not going to just sit here and wait for a miscarriage...

nicole...i hope this all works out for you. i posted about my situation and here's my update. my hcg continues to rise and rise but my progesterone is low. it also went from 8.9 to 4.6 but now it's back up to 5.5. confusing...i read though, that progesterone levels fluctuate all day long and that they are highest at bedtime and lowest in the morning. so, my 4.4 was at 9:30 am and the 8.9 was at 5 pm. they wanted me to take crinone (a progesterone supplement) but i really don't want to do that. i have a healthy 21 month old and never had all these tests so i think maybe i am just a low progesterone girl! did they recommend this for you? good luck!

Thanks Donna, it's nice to know someone is having the same problem. When I was pregnant with my son, I had no problems and there was really never any question of a miscarriage. My doctor says that he's not going to give me anything for this pregnancy. It makes me feel hopeless. So I took matters upon myself. I talked to another doctor and she told me to buy progestorone cream, so I bought some and she also suggested dring Wild Yam Root in tea or water during the day. So I am doing everything possible and trying to take it easy. I have my ultrasound on monday-fingers crossed!!! Good luck to you as well, how far along are you??

donna - June 3rd, 2005 9:36 PM

nicole, i am 6 weeks and had a sonogram yesterday and they saw a strong heartbeat. good luck to you. it does feel good to know that someone else has the same thing going on! this is a great website!

I am going through the same thing, my prog. went down from 14 to 9.6. my doc put me on crinone 8% 2x a day to bring it up. This is my first pregnancy and I am soooo nervous that I will m/c. I saw her again yesterday and she said it is very common that this happens and the cream will help bring up my prog. levels. My HcG went from 78 to 2,466 in a week so that is a good sign, I hope!

It helps to know I'm not alone. I had my first child at 19. Kayla is now 6. I had no problems at all with that pregnancy, other than I was too young. We were shocked to be pregnant since we always used condoms. My husband and I started trying to concieve when she was 2 1/2. After trying for 9 months, with no luck, I went to the doctor. He ran blood tests and said my progesterone level was 0.43. Basically non-existent.
He put me on Clomid and 3months later I was pregnant. I didn't need any drugs durring the pregnancy. Emma is now 18mths. I never went back on the pill. We decided if I get pregnant again that would be great, but figured I would need Clomid again to concieve. I got pregnant again on my own. However, I miscarried last week. I was 11wks pregnant but the baby had passed at 5wks. I needed a D&C. What I was wondering was whether I should have been on Progesterone Therapy while pregnant. They never checked my levels. But I feel it was probably the reason for the miscarriage, since they never found any problems with the baby. What do you think?
