Hello all! I am new to the site and I find so much comfort in knowing that there are so many of you out there experiencing the same thing I am. I am 7w,3d pregnant and found out on Friday that my progesterone level was at 11, which is extremely low. My doctor is considering this a high risk pregnancy b/c of what happened my last pregnancy. Therefore, he did an u/s at 6w,4d and said that I was showing to only be 5w, 5d pregnant. I wasn't that scared at first b/c I thought that maybe my dates were off as to when I concevied, but then when we got the results of the levels back, I've been freaking out ever since. He put me on prometrium, 200 mg a day. I am hoping that this will raise my levels and I will have a safe pregnancy. I am so scared of miscarrying. I have never had a miscarriage before, so I'm not even sure of what to expect. The good thing is that we saw a strong heartbeat on the u/s and I have had no spotting or bleeding. I have another u/s on Wednesday and I am so nervous waiting on this. The suspense is killing me!! I hope everything turns out well for me, and all of you too.

Went to the fertility doctor today and he did blood test and a sonogram. He is saying that I am a little over 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. My HCG levels are doing great increasing each week...my progesterone is increasing but very slowly and I am still going to be taking 4 x's a day the vaginal progesterone capsules 200 mgs and he also suggested that I make an appointment with my OB/GYN so I have that appointment on 7-13 and I have to go back to the fertiliy doctor on 7-12 for blood test. My progesterone level right now is at 13.3. Anyone know what the levels should be at this stage or a website that I can look on?

Hi Nives, that's great! The prog. should be around 20 but mine was at 9 or so and now it's up to 34! I am now 10 weeks and using the vag. supposotories 1x a day now, was 2x. So don't worry, as long as it's going up and your hcg is going up, I think you'll be ok...

Thank you again Dani! I greatly appreciate it. What vaginal suppositories are you on? Have you heard about the injections? I am wondering which is better to do...the doctor didn't mention anything to me about that but my aunt has a friend that is doing that. I also forget to mention that the doctor did a sonogram today also and I heard the heartbeat......Strong!! I am praying each night!!!

Nives, I strongly reccomend the progesterone injections. I have been on them since I was 6 weeks now I am 13 and I have had absolutely no complications. My levels are where the doc wants them. You have to have someone help you with the injections because it is difficult to do yourself. it is very thick and hard to push into the muscle. They did not give me the option of injections or suppositories, they told me the injections were the quickest most effective way of getting the projesterone.

I am comfortable taking the capsules right now. I am not a fan of needles but if it came down to it, I would do it. I wanted to know if anyone has like a pale yellow discharge also from the progesterone capsules. Does anyone else feel like they are going to the bathroom 100 x's a day? I also have mild brown spotting only when I wipe myself.

Dani - July 6th, 2005 5:35 PM

I was on Crinone gel 8%. I do feel like I go pee about 100x but AT NIGHT!!!!

Nives-I have been following your posts and want to tell you how so very sorry I am for the pain you have experienced with your last pregnancies. I can't imagine losing a baby. I have had two misscarriages but they both occurred during the later part of first trimester. It was still very painful but I can't imagine having my baby alive for 8 days and then losing it. My thoughts and prayers are with you. As far as your question on progesterone, my doctor said the ranges can be from 9 to 47 for the first trimester and because this range is so grand, she only worries when it is in the 9 level if you are having other symptoms like spotting or cramping. About your discharge when you wipe-is this happening when you bare down for a bowel movement or with urination only or both. I know that's quite a personal question but the reason I say this is that if the placenta that is starting to form is over the opening of the Cervix, which at this early stage is very common, you can bleed when you bare down, cough, squat or have intercourse. This happened to me on my first pregnancy and the placenta eventually moved out of the way as the uterus gets bigger. Also, I have quite a bit of discharge taking the progesterone supplement but it shouldn't be yellow. You may have a yeast infection(on progesterone you are more suseptible to these) and this can also cause spotting(happened to me too,) so maybe you should check with your doctor on the color. Consitency wise though, progesterone does cause more of it-ain't it lovely. My worry for me always stems from the fact that my discharge is very watery looking, sometimes that is all it looks like and I am worried I am leaking amniotic fluid. I have been checked twice for this but luckily so far, everything looks good. Anyways, hope this helps and good luck to you!!

I have been taking the progesterone shots for about a week now. Has anyone gotten a numb 'behind' from them? There is one spot that I can literally pinch and I can't feel it. This spot is not in the spot the shots are given, but in the area.

Thanks!

tonya - July 7th, 2005 8:45 AM

Jen- The numb feeling will go away, I had it for about two weeks when I first started

Jen531 - July 7th, 2005 10:54 AM

Thank you Tonya!

Well, I went to the doctor on Wednesday and my worst fears came true. They did an u/s and found that the baby had no cardiac activity and I had massive bleeding internally. So they scheduled me for a D&C yesterday. I'm so emotional right now and I don't know how to feel about all of this. Everyone says "well it just means that something was wrong with the baby" or "at least it was early on in the pregnancy" but none of that makes me feel any better. It doesn't mean that the hurt is any less because of that....I wanted this baby very badly. I'm just so scared now of trying again b/c I don't know if I can emotionally handle this again. I had no complications in my pregnancy with my son until the very end, so I figured everything would be the same with this one. It's almost like I thought that a miscarriage could not happen to me. My mom had 3 kids and all of them were totally normal pregnancies. I guess every woman's body is different though. They told me that the next time I get pregnant, to come in as soon as I suspect and they will put me on the prometrium pills again for my low progersterone. But I'm skeptical of if that will even help. I don't know...I'm just so bummed right now. Does any know how long I should wait before trying again??? My doctor told me 2-3 months. They would like me to have 2 regular period cycles. That almost seems too soon to me, but I don't know. I figured it would be more like 6 months or something. Well good luck to the rest of you. I hope your outcomes all turn out better than mine! Hopefully my spirits will pick up soon!

Lea - July 8th, 2005 11:16 AM

Amber...I had a m/c and d&c in Feb at about 7weeks too. The dr told me that the wait time varies from dr to dr and from person to person. She personally suggested at least 2 cycles, but that most dr would recommend 3 cycles. However, she had dr's who had personally waited only 1 cycle before ttc again.

I think the point she stressed over and over to me was not focusing on a specific number of cycles or months, but that my husband and I wait until we were both emotionally ready to try again. She felt that was more important than anything else.

Amber - July 8th, 2005 1:23 PM

Thanks Lea! I think you are right, we should try again when it feels right for us. It's almost like part of me wants to try again really soon b/c I want to have another baby so bad. But then another part of me is scared that the same thing will happen again. I think maybe I should take a little time to make sure my body has completely recovered, and my emtional well being as well.

Nives - July 8th, 2005 1:47 PM

Okay for those of you that take the vaginal capsules.......when you take them do you lay down???? Also does it feel like it oozes out of you????

Dani - July 8th, 2005 6:14 PM

I am so sorry to hear that Amber, I hope you recover soon and will be ok. Good luck for your future ttc.
