I am now 6weeks and 5 days pregnant. This is my 6th pregnancy. I have had a total of 4 miscarriages. Last year I had 2 missed miscarriages. This time we are taking every precaution and I am doing the 100mg of progesterone supplements 2x a day. I just started having a brownish discharge a couple of days ago, and last night I started to bleed. I have a doctors appt. tomorrow, but already am expecting the worst. My husband and I just want to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. I don't know what is wrong with me.

With my first pregnancy, my progesterone level was at only 5 at almost six weeks. My doctor felt sure it would end in a miscarriage. I took the vaginal suppositories for about 4 weeks, and then my levels were fine. I delivered a very healthy baby. I just found out we're pregnant with our second, and my progesterone is only at 10 - supplements again, and lots of prayers. Miracles happen every day.

I myself have had a miscarriage due to low progesterone. I had a m/c on Sept. 26th. It lasted a week. I just found out two days ago that I am pregnant again. I didn't even have a period between the two. My doc nurse told me that the doc had put me on 100mg of prometrium 3x's a day because my progesterone was a little low. She told me that I sould not worry about it. I am very scared. What do you think she told me not to worry. I wonder how low is a little? Me and my husband want to be excited, but we are so nervous. I go back for more blood work on Friday. Please pray for us. Good luck to all.

For those of you who are struggling I just wanted to let you know that there is hope. I m/c last April at 12weeks with a very low prog. levels. they were low from the beginning and never went passed 10.6. After 2u/s, hearing and seeing the HB, I lost the pregnancy. I found out 2 weeks ago that I am finally pregnant again and this time my levels are much higher. My Doc is having me test now weekly but my prog. seems to stay at 38 and my HCG's are multiplying at a great rate. We have been trying to get pregnant for almost three years and this one seems to be a viable one. Good luck to all of you, hopefully you will be sharing your good news soon too.

Hello everyone. I miscarried a little over 5 weeks ago and just found out I am pregnant. My HcG levels came back today at 1,289 which puts me at 3-4 weeks. However my progesterone came back at a 1.9!!! Everything I have read says that this is extremely low. I just began taking progesterone to supplement but I am so concerned that my level is this low. Has anyone ever had a level this low and had a sucessful pregnancy?

Angie - November 22nd, 2005 10:47 AM

I've been going through the same thing w/low progesterone levels. I am 7 weeks pregnant and at 2 weeks my progesterone was 28.1 and my HCG was 316. I am currently 7 weeks and my HCG is 34,922 and my progesterone dropped to 14.8. My DR doesn't seem at all concerned. Which after reading these entries -- I am. Does this sound normal to anyone? I have been spotting since last Thursday, but have had two ultrasounds since then also. The babies h/b is really strong and beating 132 bpm. They said it measures right on schedule and everything looks great. Should I be concerned that the progesterone is low, should I be pushing for a supplement?

Cristina - November 22nd, 2005 5:24 PM

Angie - Yes, I think you should ask for progesterone supplements. Last week my level was at a scary 1.9 and after one week of supplements, it went to a 92.9. Humans have control over progesterone unlike HcG. I just got my HcG tests back too and they dropped which means I am going to miscarry. If you can prevent it, I would definitely do it! Good luck.

I am so glad to find this site as well! I am on my 5th pregnancy. 1st went perfect in 2001. 1 m/c in 2002, 1 in 2003. Then on 4th in 2004, Dr. found low progesterone levels at 6 weeks and put me on supplements. Have a healthy 1 year old boy. Pregnant again. Dates aren't matching up with LMP. Had US last Friday and sac measured 4 weeks. Low HCG levels but rising. Yesterday was 1374. Low progesterone 9.9 on Monday. On 50 mg supplements 2xday. Go for ultrasound tomorrow morning. Glad to see the good news on this site. I'm still 50/50 on whether this one is successful or not. No nausea. Tired and breast tenderness at times. Anyone had low progesterone levels and low rising HCGs and have a healthy baby to show for it?

Hi- I had written in October - few miscarriages, took progesterone til 14 weeks this time and hypothyroid.. Anyway, I had an ultrasound after triple screen showed baby had a high chance of trisomy 18. Ultrasound looked great and its a little boy, but then decided on amnio, also to be sure. That came back normal as well. I am still curious as to whether lower progesterone has an effect on the hormones that are looked at in a triple screen. The specialist did tell me that because my hormone levels were low, according to that blood test, that they'd have to keep a check to make sure baby is growing...placenta may not give him what he needs. Right now he is a week ahead of schedule, and I'm 21 weeks tomorow. Has anyone else had low prog. and a false positive triple screen? I'm mainly concerned now about baby's brain development. If its not one thing, its another. I'm a worrier. :)

Tracey - November 25th, 2005 11:54 AM

Kristina - I had a friend who got a false positive on the trisomy 18. She opted out of the amnio and she had a healthy 4 year old daughter. She doesn't have any progesterone issues. She's had 2 healthy children and no miscarriages but I hope this information puts you at ease a little.

Just some more words of encouragement. We ARE NOW 20 weeks, and going strong. We found out last week we are having a little girl, and everything looks normal. Hang in there to all, and know that there is hope for all us low progesterone girls!

Would appreciate any feedback possible! I have been on vaginal progesterone supplements since 7 dpo when my progesterone was 6.9. At 14 dpo (4 weeks), I had a positive pregnancy test HCG was 23 but progesterone was only 8.9. What do you think that means? I went in today -- 16 dpo for another round of tests. I feel like there is no hope since I was already on progesterone and the number is still so low.

I have had one m/c and one successful pregnancy.

This is my 2nd pregnancy. I miscarried at 9wks the first time. I'm now 5wks 6d preg and my progesterone test came back at 15.5. They put me on prometrium 200mg 1x per day. This is my first time being on this pill. Do you think this will help me? I notice that others are on 200 mg 2x per day. I have my first US next week. Wish me luck.

Sharon - January 10th, 2006 12:33 PM

What does a high 10.5 hCG level mean if I am trying to conceive?
