I am in the same boat. I went to my first prenatal visit and I had some spotting. My nurse practioner ordered a sonogram to make sure everything was okay. I was measuring five and half weeks when I should have been 6.5 wks. They did some blood work and my progesterone level was 9.6. I was started on Prochieve to raise my levels. I have another sonogram in 2 wks. Hopefully everything with be okay.

Well, my beta was doubling so my RE gave me P4 supplements. They did increase my P4 levels, but my beta dropped and I am m/c. Next cycle I am using supplements starting at 3dpo!

I'm 35 today and after 1 normal pregnancy 13 years ago and 2 miscarriages. I am 8 wks pregnant today, on Wednesday we found out that we are having twins. My progesterone level last week was 5.5 so the dr. put me on suppositories when i had blood drawn yesterday they said my level only went up a point and my hormone levels aren't doubling like they would like so i have to go back in Monday and I doubled my intake of the supp. is there anything else other than medically that i can do that can hopefully save my pregnency??

...tweety, am very sorry. i suppose it wasn't a viable pregnancy. don't think that if you took the progesterone at 3 dpo it may have not happened, what i'm trying to say it sounds like you may blame yourself and that is not the case. prochieve is a good progesterone vaginal gel. i highly recommend it. i use it too.

...sarah, hope everything will be fine when you go for your sonogram. you may have ovulated later than you thought.

....goldsmith, I read that the herb Vitex can prevent miscarriage. maybe you'd like to do research on it? keep on with the progesterone, the hcg still has time to double.

Hi everybody, I'm so grateful for this site. This is my first time on, as far as I know, progesterone is healthy for our bodies, and has been in use for some time without harm to the fetus. I've had two miscarriages and the dr wants me to get an early test for pregnancy this time around so that she can test my progesterone levels early. I'm nervous too, but your comments are giving me hope. Does anyone know how often we should test our progesterone levels, and around which time of our cycle? good luck everyone, there's definitely a positive energy between us all that is reassuring!

hi lavender. in the menstrual cycle progesterone testing is done mid luteal phase and some doctors suggest going more than once in that cycle. Mid luteal varies from woman to woman. Some women have 10 days, 11, 12, 13, etc. how long is yours? if you can learn that then go in the middle of it, a few days before that and a few days after that to get a better idea of how progesterone fluctuates and if your levels are ok.

p.s lavender, best wishes. keep telling yourself that even if your progesterone is low your doctor will prescribe supplementation for you.

Hi, see my story above.
After almost 5 weeks of bleeding I had the D&C yesterday. We thought it wouldn't be necessary this time, but the hcg didn't drop. I hope I can finally move on now.

I just wanted to share two things I recently learned:
Get your thyroid checked. TSH is normal from 0.4 - 4 but if you have progestrone problems it should be under 2, preferably around 1. If it is higher, it might block progestrone production.

If you are taking progesterone vaginal creme, your blood progestrone level might stay low, because the progesterone is absorbed by the cervix right away. That means the baby might get enough, even if the levels don't increase much.

Hope that helps.

I am about 5 weeks pregnant & I have been spotting since two days after conception. We had an ultrasound last Friday & the doctor was able to see a gestational sac. He told me that a lot of women spot during their first trimester. I did more labs on Monday & my progesterone level is at a 9. I have to do more labs tomorrow morning & I will speak to the doctor tomorrow afternoon. I am so worried about this. I miscarried a little over a year ago & this will be our first child. Does anyone know if it's too late for the doctor to start me on the supplements & will the baby be ok if we use them?

robwaldrep, you should take the progesterone. It doesn't hurt and it's worth trying. Hope all is well.

Hi everyone. I am 6 weeks pregnant and have been on prometrium and cronin since 4 weeks. My HCG levels are great, but progesterone has fluctuated from 9 to 19 to 17.5 at my last appointment last Wednesday. I am praying (of course) that everything is tracking along a somewhat normal course, but I am not sure. Your comments have helped tremendously. I have not had any spotting and only a few pregnancy symptoms (i.e. tiredness, tender breasts). Is anyone both on cronine and prometrium?
Thanks!

alliekat10 - July 24th, 2006 12:36 PM

I need some reassurance...On 7/18/06, my hcg was 1061 and my progesterone was 14.8. I took another blood test on 07/21/06 and my hcg was 1961 and progesterone was 10.6. I started taking 200 mg of prometrium last night and am going to see the doctor this afternoon. I have had 3 mc's and the nurse did not seem optimistic...or maybe I'm just paranoid :( HELP! Carolyn

Cybil - July 25th, 2006 4:08 PM

I am 24 years old and i have two healthy children with which I had text book pregnancies. When I got married and my husband (who is not my boys' father) and I tried having a baby we got pregnant fine and everything was fine, with no reason at all, I went to my 16 week check up and our baby had passed. All the doctor said was sorry. We got pregnant again and had a miscarriage at 4 weeks. I am currently 10 weeks pregnant now. We went to a new doctor who found that my progesterone is very low. It was 6.2 at 5 weeks. I am currently on Prometrium, and yes after 5 weeks I am still quite nauseated and tired, however, my level is up to 10.8 as of today. I have had 3 ultrasounds all with fetal heart tones and my little bean is doing fine. I even heard the heartbeat yesterday at my appointment from the outside with the doppler and it was 160-165! My doctor does not seem to be concerned and he is very optimistic as are my husband and I. I get my blood drawn again thursday along with another ultrasound so I'll let you know. I am very suprised to see how many of us are in the same situation. We all will be fine:)

Allie have you gone for your third beta. Keep taking your progesterone. We're hoping the best for you and baby.

anonymous99 - August 7th, 2006 2:29 PM

iveigail, even though, from the women I speak to on this message board: http://www.ovusoft.com/
take both, Crinone is excellent and stays concentrated in the uterine lining. From what I know about it, this alone should be enough. I suppose it can't hurt to take both. The Prometrium goes into your bloodstream, the Crinone stays concentrated in the lining, most of it.

Alliekat, how are things going?
