I had a nurse call and tell me that my downs syndrome levels were abnormal and they scheduled me for an ultrasound a few days later. The ultrasound turned out fine, and I found out it was a girl (19 weeks). Should I be concerned? I know that these tests have a lot of false positives but I am still scared!! They didn't even tell me the ratio or anything!!

My initial blood test for Downs came back as "positive" too. I went in for an ultrasound for dating to be sure they did the test during the correct weeks (if they do it too early or too late, it's inaccurate). We repeated the test and got "negative" results the second time. If they have real concerns or see anything on the ultrasound that is indicative of Downs... they will probably suggest you have an amnio done. An amnio has some slight risks, but it is also the sure fire way to know if the baby is healthy or not.
