I had my progesterone level taken on day 21 as luteal phase defect was suspected. It turns out I was 3 weeks pregnant at the time. My level came back at 50.94 which I think is quite high for 3 weeks. I have had a previous miscarriage due to low progesterone levels and am now concerned about molar pregnancy. Perhaps I'm just paranoid. I can't get in to see my physician for 2 weeks. Any thoughts?

I am told that molar pregnancy are incredibly rare. I was checked for ectopic last week and they did all of my bloods.

My progesterone was 92 which is almost double what it should be at 12 weeks(ish). I was told though that this was more likely to indicate a strong healthy pregnancy as the progesterone is what feeds it.

Chances are that everything will be fine for you. Let us know how you get on.

I know there is a relationship between high HCG number and molar pgs...but is there that same kind of relationship with progesterone levels? Never heard of that. I had high hcg, low progesterone and had partial molar pg.

Hi Robin: how is your pregnancy coming along? Did everything turn out ok? I think you should have your hcg and prog levels taken again, and as early as 5 weeks maybe you can ask your doc about an u/s. Let us know how it turns out.

I was able to get in for an ultrasound and everyhting looks good. There's definitely no molar pregnancy but I have to go back in a week to make sure the baby is growing. My HCG levels are apparently quite high as well (20000 @ 22 DPO). My GP says the higher the better, but other sources I've read say high HCG can indicate Down's Syndrome. Does anyone have any info on that?

I never heard of Down's for elevated hcg's, but i heard of twins. Was there one bb or two on the ultrasound? Are you taking supplements of progesterone? This causes high levels of both. Also, if you're really concerned you can contact genetics at your hospital.

There was only one bb on the ultrasound and I am not taking progesterone supplements but my progesterone level is quite high on it's own. I don't have an appointment with an obs/gyn until the beginning of October and I'm not sure who to contact. I've read several studies saying that high hcg can indicate Down's. I'm not good at waiting. I so badly want a healthy baby!

Robin my progesterone is 66.1 on 7dpo and we are trying to get prego. What has happened since this post in August 2006. Sorry I'm new here.

Hi Nursectu,

We now have a beautiful, healthy baby following an excellent pregnancy. I highly recommend an early ultrasound if possible to put your mind at rest. Good luck!

Robin - Hi I know its like 2 yrs later but your post is the only one here similar to my case, my HCG was 1789 at 15dpo, quite high all I'm reading is an indicator of DS. Know I'm 19 weeks, and they found and echogenic focus on my baby's heart, which they same can be very normal, or an indicator of downs, so now I'm really worried. All my other triple screening and afp came normal.

Do you remember your hcg at 4 weeks? Thanks
