Tomorrow is our baby's due date. An ultrasound this week reported that our baby is in the 16th percentile for growth. Our ob is going to monitor the baby with weekly ultrasounds. They estimate the baby is 6' 8".
I'm unsure about what having a low percentage means and am very worried that there's something wrong with our baby. We haven't gotten much info from the Dr.-they just say she's smaller than expected. 16 just seems so low and I've read that babies with a 10% or less are diagnosed as having a disorder. Just looking for some more information-anyone that may have had a similar situation.

Well if your due date is tomorrow then weekly u/s won't be of any help whatsoever. I am ashamed of a dr. that instills worry in you at this point! 6.8 pounds is a fine healthy weight and please do not think otherwise! The difference between the 16th percentile and the 50th is not even a full pound. Healthy babies can weigh anywhere from 5.5 pounds and up. So please don't worry!!!

I agree with Skyeblue. It's so late for the dr to be telling you this and worrying you. My son was 6lbs. 10 oz. and girls tend to be a bit smaller (or so the percentile charts say.) I weighed 5lbs 1 oz at birth and I'm OK. Are you and/or your husband not very big people? My DH and I are 5'1" and 5'8" and our son (13 months old and 21 lbs and 29.5") usually falls in the 10th-50 percentile for height and weight but so would we, hahaha. I'm sure your baby girl is fine. Congratulations!

My dd was 6lbs 15 ozs and she is now 6 yrs old. Everything has to be taken into consideration. Her cousin has been 1 full year behind the "average" her whole life, she is 8 and completely normal. My MIL is 5', her brother is 5'6", her mother was 4'11", so being short is not uncommon on my husbands side of the family, even though both of us are above "average" height my daughter could take after them.
