I am 21 weeks and was told my placenta was low at my midpregnancy ultrasound. After, I was also told by an acquaintance not to exercise, have intercourse or lift heavy objects. My OB didn't tell me that, just that I'm low and they are going to do another ultrasound in 5 weeks. II was just wandering if any of you have been in this situation. I am kinda freaking out about it now. Hopefully next ultrasound it will be higher.

My 21 week ultrasound also showed a low lying placenta and I was NOT advised to restrict my activities unless I experience bleeding. I am in my 28 week now and have just undergone another ultrasound (to check the placenta among other things). It is still low, but the doctors don't seem to be terribly worried about it. They will check again at week 36 and would recommend a C-section if it hasn't gone up by then.

Allison, I also found out at my 20 wk that I had low lying placenta. It wasn't touching the cervix, but was closer to it than they would like. Good news is that I am now in week 32 and at my 30 wk u/s it had slightly stretched up so I think in over 90% of cases it will move away from the cervix. I wasn't told to restrict my activities, but when I started spotting after sex one day at around 26 weeks, my doctor told me pelvic rest for the remainder. It sucks, but I don't mind if it will keep baby safe. Anyway, I wish you luck. I'm sure it will move and all will be okay.

I had a low laying placenta. And i didnt really lift anything heavy but i was stressed out.In the end my placenta ripped and i had a emergency c-sectin at 30 Weeks.. My advice to you would be to take it easy.. no long walks, no stress, and eat good..good luck

Mine was low at 20 weeks and at my 25th week check up it had gone up. but i have been on bed rest. now i am 28 weeks and been having contractions and went to the hospital because baby wasn't moving. they gave me two shots to stop the contractions and i am now 1 cm dilated. this is my third baby.

I was just told by my OB by phone or on my answering machine, that I shouldn't have intercourse and only light exercise. My heart goes out to all you guys, I had no idea low placenta could cause pre-mature labor.

went for anatomy u/s on friday and was also told "your placenta is a little low, we'll do another u/s in the 8th month to see if it's corrected itself." I didn't get special instructions and they didn't seem to concerned at all.
