Melissamom, if your period has'nt been back since you had your tube's done, then it might unlikely that you are pregnant, but better to be safe then sorry and do a test. Hope it come's out pos for. I had mine clipped in 2000, and have regreted getting it done ever since. My son was only 10 months old when I had it done, he's now 7 will be 8 in Jan. I've asked my hubby about me getting them reversed but he says no way. If it happens then thats fine but he does'nt won't me to have them reversed. Best of luck, let me know how you go.

Hi Christie:

Before you had your tubal ligation, were you informed of all these side effects that is possible after TL? And were you informed of POST TUBAL LIGATION SYNDROME?

My point is that I am trying to inform my fellow women out there that what we feel and go through after TL is real and most of the time - it goes undiagnosed - because there is no cure for PTLS and most doctors do not believe that it exists!

Are any of you gals out there aware that when our tubes are tied that it cuts off blood supplies to our ovaries? And it also cuts off the signal that our ovaries send to our brains? And once it dies, it stops producing the necessary estrogen and progesterone that our bodies need?

This is where early menopause sets in with all the other following complications:

Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome (PTLS) aka PTS is linked with:

* Castrative Menopause
* Severe Hormone Imbalance
* Ovarian Isolation (Post Hysterectomy, Post Tubal Ligation)
* Atrophic Ovaries
* Hormone Shock
* Increased Risk of Heart Disease
* Bone Loss and Osteoporosis
* Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB)
* PMS
* Endometriosis
* Adenomyosis
* Severe Pelvic Adhesions
* Misplacement of Female Organs
* Decreased Lactating Ability

SYMPTOMS OF POST TUBAL SYNDROME

Here is a link to a website that will be very helpful to everyone out there who has ever had a tubal ligation: tubal.org

Good luck to you all out there! But you should also consider looking into a reversal (if you can afford it). Most insurance will not cover it, so you have to look for the right doctors to back you up on this!

Shanta - October 12th, 2007 9:28 AM

hi mdawn: have you ever heard of PTLS? you should look into it! It is this dreadful syndrome that we develop after a tubal ligation! Godd luck.

Melissamom24 - October 12th, 2007 9:28 AM

Just wanted to update that I did take a test and it came out positive. I had some bloodwork Thursday and I have more coming up on Monday.

rttj2000 - October 14th, 2007 6:02 AM

Shanta, I have just read what you ahve put up about tubal ligation, I have 21 out of the 45 that you put up. I have regreted getting it done since 2001. Hubby won't let me get it reversed, plus we don't have the money. If I'd known about it before hand I would'nt have had it done. Melissamom, I hope it all goes well for, keep in touch on how things go.Congrats.

mdawn - October 14th, 2007 4:57 PM

Shanta, I have never heard of any of this before. I have learned so much since I have found this site. I wish I have been smart enough to search the web instead of trying to find any easy fix 7 yrs ago. I have had a terrible pain in my left side since I was 2 months pregnant with my last child, she will be 7 yrs old in Feb. Doctors have told me it is all in my head, they removed my gall bladder thinking that was the problem and that I was having phantom pains from having my gall bladder removed. My mother-in-law found an article this week that talked about pelvic congestion syndrome. I have all of the symptoms of it and will be going in a couple of weeks for a full physical. I hope that they can find the problem and fix it. My biggest fear is that the fix will be a hysterectomy, there goes the slightest chance of ever being pregnant again. My husband is sympathetic but has never had a desire to have kids so he can never fully understand how I feel. It is so nice to hear everyone's stories and to know that you are not alone. Will a reversal alleviate these symtoms? Good luck and God Bless to everyone!

MOMMIE416 - November 12th, 2007 5:15 AM

I JUST CAME ACROSS THIS WEBSITE AND FEEL SO MUCH BETTER TO KNOW THAT SO MANY OTHER WOMEN FEEL THE SAME. I AM 35 AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR THAT I HAVE MISSED PERIODS AND I AM CURRENTLY ABOUT 10 DAYS LATE WHICH IS EXTREMELY ABNORMAL FOR ME. WITH READING ALL OF THIS I WILL GO GET A TEST THIS MORNING!!! I HAD A TUBAL 12 YEARS AGO AND COMPLETELY REGRET IT. I DO NOW WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER BABY BUT HAVE SO MUCH TROUBLE TAKING BIRTH CONTROL THAT I REALLY DON'T WANT A FULL REVERSAL AND IVF IS JUST TOO EXPENSIVE. I HAVE READ ALOT OF COMMENTS AND NOW HAVE MANY QUESTIONS FOR MY DOCTOR. I WISH YOU ALL ALOT OF LUCK AND HAS ANYONE HEARD OF A LOW TUBAL OVUM TRANSFER? THIS PROCEDURE IS LIKE IVF WHERE YOUR EGGS ARE STIMULATED AND THEN RETRIEVED BUT THEN THE EGGS ARE JUST PUT BACK INTO THE FALLOPIAN TUBES AT THE LOW OPENING TOWARDS THE UTERUS AND THE COUPLE HAS NORMAL INTERCOURSE TIMED AT A DAY BEFORE THE TRANSFER AND A DAY AFTER TO ACHIEVE PREGNANCY. I HAVE NOT FOUND ANY CLINICS WHO PERFORM THE PROCEDURE BUT I HAVE SEEN LOTS OF INFO ONLINE. JUST TRY PUTTING LOW TUBAL OVUM TRANSFER INTO A SEARCH ENGINE AND SEE WHAT YOU GET. IF ANYONE FINDS OUT ANYTHING OR OTHER THINGS THAT MAY HELP WITH GETTING PREGNANT AFTER A TUBAL, PLEASE POST IT.--(GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL AND I WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU ALL)

msdee - November 29th, 2007 12:04 AM

hi! i just had twins on june 8,2007 and my son jayden passed away on august 25, i had a tubal when i had them ,and now i regret it ,i know a new baby won't replace him but i feel it will fill a little of the void.

Nonblondmom - December 1st, 2007 10:03 AM

I had my tubal ligation in OCT. 2003 with my third child. I had to have cesareans with all of them so I was afraid to have to go through major surgery again....so with my third child my doc. cut, tied and cauterized my tubes. Now I fear I may be about six weeks pregnant....I took a hpt...came out neg. but I showed negative with my second child until I went to docs.....I have an appt. on DEC. 7th....I want to finally know what is "up" with my body. I am never late unless I was preggo...I am not having morning sickness but with my last baby I had NO MORNING SICKNESS whatsoever with her...the strange thing is.....I am squeezing what looks like COLOSTRUM from my breasts!!!!!!!! I haven't nursed for years in fact with my last one I never nursed because I had to work out of home. I NEED to know whats up, anyone having the same problem like me? Oh and I am very sensitive to smells.....I am just afraid that if I have a neg. hpt at home now that may be ectopic.....I even called planned parenthood and the nurse said hpt may not show up pos. I will let you all know next week when my appt comes up....I hope that it isnt serious....like cancer, etc. Baby dust to all ttc......i wasnt, but now I think I wouldnt mind giving pregnancy another go......

ggd6979 - December 8th, 2007 12:38 PM

I had my tubes clamped with the fallope rings in 2002 & found out that I was between 5-6 wks pregnant around the first of Dec. 07. However, I did have a miscarriage shortly after we found out. So, it is possible and my OB/GYN told me that the chances are about 1 in every 250.

telly - December 19th, 2007 5:33 PM

I to had my tubes burned and constantly having kicking in my stomach, sleeping a lot and wondering if i am pregnant or have fibroid tumors that can be moving around making me feel as though i am pregnant

Chantelle0811 - January 3rd, 2008 11:09 PM

I am 23 years old and had a tubal ligation 3 months ago. I am now naseaus, have sore breasts, and have highly irregular periods. I am late for my period although it has started three times and lasted about ten minutes each time very light flow though. I am worried because my husband does not want anymore kids. What do you think??

rttj2000 - January 4th, 2008 1:02 AM

Hi chantelle, It might be best if you get a test and see, sounds like you might be. And I think if you pregnant your hubby might understand, because you did'nt get pregnant to hurt him, these things happen. And Telly have you done a test to see.

djwebb - January 11th, 2008 11:22 AM

I don't know about being pregnant or not. I have two little girls, 5 and 2 and I had my tubes tied 2 years ago after my last child. I regretted it the moment I was out of surgery. I am remarried and all I want is a baby with him. I just had a clip placed on my tubes, the yare not cut or burned or anything, do you think i could get pregnant. I feel tired, and my breast are sore and growing, i felt sick the last three days. I took one test yesterday evening and it was negative, but is it always right??? i can't remember if i had my period last month and i am still waiting for january!!! I hope it doesn't come! pls let me know what you girls think!

rttj2000 - January 13th, 2008 9:10 PM

djwebb. When is AF due this month. If your feeling sick and tried, and your boobs are sore, then maybe you might be pregnant. But don't get your hopes up to soon. I am like you I've been wanting to have another baby for the last 7 years, but hubby says no. I had my tubes clipped in 2000 when our son was 10 months old, the biggest regret I've ever done. But it can happen, wait and see if you get AF this month, and if you don't go and see your doc. Best of luck, hope you are.

Lise in BC - January 21st, 2008 5:18 PM

Yes it can happen as it happened to my son's friend's Mom. I had a tubal (not sure what kind) in September 2001. My period is regular however the first day of my last period was November 22, 2007. I have several pregnancy symptoms: tingely and very sore breasts, pink discharge 3 weeks ago, fatique, and just a little bit of nausea. I have taken 2 tests both being negative. However, the EPT tests have not worked well for me so I do not trust. I will do one more EPT this Friday as I well and if no period the I am off to the doctor. I will keep posted. :)
