I had my baby 2 months ago and suffered a 3rd degree tear which was repeared in theatre. Im still in a great deal of pain and at the moment i am really constipated. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to burst my stitches after 2 months?

KAREN, I HADE MY SON 2 MONTHS AGO AND ALSO HAD A 3RD DEGREE TEAR. IM DOING FINE NOW. I HAVENT HAD ANY PAIN SINCE ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS AFTER HAVING HIM. I DID FRACTURE MY TAILBONE THOUGH AND THAT STILL HURTS A BIT. CALL YOUR DOCTOR, WHAT DID HE/SHE SAY AT YOUR FOLLOW UP VISIT??

hi mc, thanks, my gp said everything was fine and healing well, but could expect pain for about 6 months or so, but i was worried that as i have constipation, and if i push or strain, how likely am i to rip my tear

How do you know what degree the tear was? I wasn't told this.

Try taking a stool softener.

YES KAREN TRY TAKING A STOOL SOFTENER. (WHEN I WAS IN THE HOSPIATL THEY GAVE ME SOME TO TAKE AND IT WORKED GREAT) ALSO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. I ALSO STOPPED TAKING MY IRON PILLS FOR A WHILE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY MADE MY BM HARD.
JILL- THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU WHAT DEGREE YOUR TEAR WAS IN THE HOSPITAL- AND AT YOUR FOLLOWUP VISIT. :-))

for the constipation drink TONS of fluids and try eating more fiber (i eat a high fiber cereal) and fruit like apples and grapes. i had bad constipation for like a month, i'm almost 3 months postpartum, and only now is it going away. if you're desperate try glycerin suppositories, they won't upset your stomach or cause cramps like laxatives and softeners. constipation CAN make little tears around that hole. are you bleeding when you poo? i doubt you're tearing out you're stitches.

i did bleed a little bit when i had a bm last week, it now sometimes feels like a bit of air can go from my back passage through my vaginal wall, i have been taking lactulose occasionally and was given fibregel by my doctor. If i do have a little tear around that hole, does that heal itself of does it need stitched??
