I have a 6-week old 34-weeker that needs me to fortify my breast milk with Neosure formula. Because she was so early and I was so sick at the end of the pregnancy, we were seperated for a few days and my milk never fully came in. I average about 1 to 2 oz total per pumping session. I am taking fenugreek and vitamin B6 along with my prenatals. I decided not to try Reglan for various reasons. I pump about 6 times/day and recently read about power pumping where you pump for 10 minutes on, then 10 minutes off for an hour, once daily. Has anyone tried this and had any success?

Power pumping does work. I know that I have had spells where I didn't pump as much as I should and my supply would go down, and then my daughter would have a growth spurt. So, I would power pump and it would bring up my supply. It takes a few days, if not a week or more in some cases, but it works. Your body naturally does supply and demand. Just think, even adopting mothers can create a milk supply, so you definitely have an advantage on them. It may take a little extra work and pumping, but eventually it will all pan out. Oh, and be sure not to freak out when you get your menstrual cycles, because your milk will probably decrease each time. Good luck!
