Herpes???

I am 35 years old and have been with my husband for 7 years. I just had a baby 10/18/07 via emergency c-section. My husband and I had sex two times (just two weeks ago) for the first time in like four months. Last week, I had a yeast infection and some sort of blistery, itchy rash above my (sorry) clitoral region. I went to the doctor and saw the nurse practitioner. She said it looked like herpes - that it could have been in my blood for years and that I never had an outbreak. She took my blood and a culture. She put me on Valtrex and gave me an ointment named lidocaine. I get the blood results tomorrow. I'm very scared. I wash my hands so much they bleed and am EXTREMELY careful around my baby. 1) Has anyone else been through this? 2) Is there any way it could be something else? 3) I'm starting to get really scared when I think I could have something else like HIV - Unless, is HIV a standard test when you're pregnant?

hi, I know here in nj, a pregnant woman had to sign a consent form for a hiv test.. This was in 2006. I had to sign it. They ask you. depends on your state. Now in NJ it is the law that all pregnant women be tested for HIV with/without her consent.
