[Original Post]

I am six weeks postpartum, last week was my hubby's birthday, we had some wine after dinner and got caught in the moment if you will. I am supposed to get my IUD this Friday, because I REALLY don't want to be pregnant again. He was supposed to pull out but didn't, what are the chances of getting pregnant again soon? I feel like a moron, ha ha, I so don't want to be pregnant right now, having a six week old and a toddler is enough ofr me:) I love babies but.. anyway, just wondering. Last thing I want is my doctor finding out I am and giving me a look like, "What're you a retard??" I am doing both bottle and breats by the way, but more bottle than breast as I don't seem to be making very much milk this time around.

I know this is an old post but it is very easy to get pregnant that soon after having a baby!!

Even though this post is old and the mom probably knows by now if she is pregnant or not, the chances of getting pregnant that soon after delivery are higher if the mom is not breastfeeding much. the only way breastfeeding is a fairly decent birth control method is if it is being done round the clock, including at night. once you start supplementing with formula or the baby is sleeping longer at night or all through the night and you are not nursing so much, you are much more likely to start ovulating again, and hence, able to get pregnant again also.
