What Does This Mean Exactly?

I posted on the third trimester board but I thought I'd get a quicker response here. So I went to the Dr today and she felt my belly and said that the baby weighs about 6 lbs. Does anyone know if it is really possible for them to tell just by feeling your belly? She also told me I was dialted to a one. So my qestion is what does that mean exactly? Is that normal to be a one at this point? Thanks! I am 36 weeks 2 days.

Nervous- they can sometimes make a pretty good guestimation of baby size but not always - I was dialated to 2cm at 36 weeks - everything will be fine if you have your baby anytime after 37 weeks - just relax and enjoy your final days of carrying yoru little one around on the inside - I am 24w 5 days and I am getting so excited! A friend of mine had her little boy on the 11th and that really got me excited- Good luck - everything will be great you'll see!

Nervous, Congrats first of all... being a mom is one of the most wonderful thing ever! Back to your question... my doctor guessed my babies weight at around 8 to 8.5 pounds and he ended up weighing 8 pounds 11 ounces... so he was pretty on track. Also, you could very well already be dilated to 1cm. I was about 2cm dilated and 100% effaced at the same point you are at now. Good luck... it could be very soon that you have your new lo.
