I am 19 5'4 and I have always been a tad bit under normal weight averages. My pre preg. weight stayed at the most 112 and was 110 when I got pregnant. Now I am 3 weeks away from delivery and I have gained 38lbs...I weigh 148! The most I had EVER weighed before was 120 and that was in a 36D. Now I am damn near a DD (only a B when I got preg. ) and EVERYTHING has gotten bigger on me, legs, belly, boobs, butt all of it! I was lucky not to get stretch marks extremely bad...well a week ago I noticed a few below my belly button... :( I am so so so scared that my body will be horrible after the baby...I do not want to go back so little as I was before my preg. I want to get about 118 or so and stay in a size 3-4 instead of 0-2 but still from 150lbs to 120 is 30 lbs to lose. I know the baby is some of it but I was wondering to all you moms who have been through this how much do you generally lose like right after your baby is born then still what does your belly look like...I am sure it will be pudgy...I just kinda want to know what to expect. THANKS!

You'll prob. drop 12-15 lbs. right after having the baby, but you're still gonna look pregnant. Your uterus takes up to 6 weeks to go back to pre-preg shape. I gained over 50 lbs. (went from 135 to 187) and I'm 4 weeks post-partum and I have 20 lbs. left to lose. I don't fit into any of my pre-preg clothes. It's a slow process. I'm trying to be patient!! Getting some new non-maternity clothes to fit my body helped a lot.

hey lakinallen for a minute there i couldve swore you were describing me...i'm 5'4 107 lbs pre pregnancy and i gained 38 pounds i'm now 6 weeks PP and i'm back down to my old size. i've been back in my 3-4 jeans for about 3 weeks now they're just a little tight in the hips since well a baby passed through them and they say it takes longer for them to get back if they do. basically it looked like i was 5 months pregnant for 2 days after my DS was born but after that the weight seemed to just melt off. i didn't have much of an appetite for the first week or so that may have been a factor. my belly is still a little pudgy and i'm 5 lbs from my pre preg weight and i'm hoping to keep that hehe. but other than that the weight wasn't a problem to get off it's the keeping it on but it's mainly in my hips and some in my belly.

Well dancr_grl that is really nice to hear 6 wk pp and in a 3-4! I hope I do get that lucky that quick! I am curious though did u get any stretch marks as a result of being so tiny then gaining almost 40lbs! If so can you see them worse after baby is here? I noticed a few in various places not bad but I am afraid they will be pp!?

I'm just over 5'7" & I started out pre preg. at 131, I ended up at about 164. By 2 weeks pp I had lost all but 7 lbs. Now, at 9 weeks pp, I'm about 5 lbs heavier, but all of my clothes fit for the most part. I'm attributing the extra weight to breast feeding. I also walked a lot throughout my entire pregnancy, 3-6 miles a day up until the day before my DS was born, so I'm sure that helped some too. I'm sure you'll be fine...good luck!!

i am 4 months pp, and have lost all the weight, however, i look completely different under clothes. wide hips...stretchmarks show more after birth so that sucks, my boobs have doubled to a size d and wont go down....and i excersise my butt off cause im getting married in 3 months....but nothing, ill loose weight but im just so much wider and pot bellyed....i think it just comes with the job so im trying to exept it....ive heard surgery is the only way.

well i have always been small 5'8" and 115 before i got pregnant i gained 45 pounds up to 163 when i delivered im 4 months pp and im kinda stuck at 130 which is not a bad weight for my height im ok where i am i just want my tummy to finish tonning lol everyone tells me i dont look like i was pregnant but i see it lol

SuzieQ - November 21st, 2006 9:54 AM

I'm 5'7" and used to weigh 142lbs. I gained 38lbs during pregnancy and only got a few stretch marks at 38 wks on my thighs. I'm 6wks pp and still weigh 165lbs, so I have 20 lbs to lose still. Also, and this really sucks!, after birth I got way more stretch marks on my butt and a few on my breasts. AND at 5wks pp, I noticed I have a few marks on my belly! I was so frustrated!

JELLY!!! I only gained 15 pounds and 2 weeks after dd was born, I lost 19. However, 7 weeks later, I gained 5! My hips are still wide, clothes are tight and my stomach is a jelly belly! SUCKS! If she wasn't so damn cute, I'd be mad, lol! I haven't exercised at all, so I'm sure that would help. I would like to lose 20 pounds, but would gladly settle for 10 and some "tonage". Good luck!

I am worried about this also. Im not to worried about loosing the weight, I am way more concerned about saggy skin. I watch way to much discovery health channel and allways see these really really obese people who drop like 200 lbs and then have the WORST sagging skin and get body lifts! I always see myself with the gross sagging skin hanging over my pants, and i DONT want that! I am 2 weeks away from my due date.....I am 5'9" and have gained aprx. 20lbs. I am planning to breast feed so that should help with the weight, I am soooo worried about the skin though! Does anyone have any advice or condolences on this? Thanks

Hey girls well I posted this original post and had my baby on the 4th a week ago today. I topped out at about 152lbs and now I am down to 133lbs. It sounds like alot but considering I was 110 pp I still have a ways to go to get into my old jeans. I am happy with my progress though I do not think it will be to bad to get to size. My hips and buttt are Alot thicker then I have ever had them and my boobs are HUGE but for my stomack it is not to to bad. I am ALOT pudgier then I have EVER been...I have some work to do there. My belly does not "hang" it just looks like I have a chubby pudge which is so so soft and squishy. I did get stretch marks on my belly but they are not as bad well as dark as i thought they would be. Overall I am content with my figure this early and think I worked myself up a bit. That and well looking at my baby girl and caring for her REALLY takes your mind off of yourself for a while. SHe is just so amazing and I would do it all (even my 33hrs of labor) over again if I had to!

lexa - December 15th, 2006 6:55 PM

Oh good god honey....33 hours of labor?!?! How on earth! I could never, congrats to you!

EricaLynn - December 15th, 2006 8:52 PM

33 hours is a looong time to be in labor...but if you think thats bad concider this....my mom was in labor with my sister for 56 hours....thats like two and a half days!! It is crazy to think some peoples labors last sooo long! Congrats on your new baby girl!

brookiesmama7 - May 31st, 2007 6:50 PM
