What Is Postpartum, And What Causes It?

I know this probably sounds really dumb, but my best friend is 17 and she is pregnant for the first time, I am the same age but I, nor her know much about postpartum. Can anyone on here help us out? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As far as I know postpartum depression is depression that comes after having a baby. As far as what causes it, I am unsure. HOpe this helps....(:

It is depression caused after having the baby. This website offers information about it. Try reading up on it. It can be pretty serious, so I would suggest talking to your doctor.

To Kris, I asked this question becasue my best friend is pregnant and I am trying to help her out the best I can. She is about 7 months along and had asked her Dr. what postpartum is....but the Dr. just says it's depression and she should not worry about it...I know that it's basically depression...but I was just trying to find out more about it so that I can help Kayla, and I did not know that this website has info on it about postpartum. My friend Kayla, is due in march, and she is having a girl. Thanks for you advice overall anyhow.
