is been about 6 weeks since i gave birth, the last week or 2 i have noticed the bleeding went down a lot. But today i've noticed a lot more bleeding again, could it be my period returning so soon or is it supposed to be like this? i am breastfeeding a little, i thought that was supposed to postpone your period.

My DD i s 2.5 months now. I only BF and I got my first period when she was 5 weeks. I haven't gotten one since. With my other three kids I never got a period until well over the 5 month mark. Well, not between number one and two. I got PG again when my son was 4.5 months without ever having a period. You could also be bleeding more again if you did too much or strained yourself.

I exclusivly breast feed and got my period 6 weeks post partum. I only bled for three weeks after birth. From what I understand there is no "normal" with t his kind of thing.

I thought it was supposed to postpone it, but are you saying it slowed down and then came back heavy as if it never actually stopped?? If so, I would think that it's not your period if it never actually ended, just got heavy again. I got my 1st period almost 4-5 weeks after my delivery. I'm bottle/formula feeding though.

If you quit bleeding and then start up again around 4-6 weeks, it's because you're doing too much. I had the exact same thing, my doc said it's pretty normal and a lot of women think it's a period, but it's not. It's actually called a 6-week bleed. If you take it easy for a week (yeah yeah, easier said than done) it should quit again. If you haven't yet had your 6 week checked up, I'd ask your doc about it. But like I said, seems like it's pretty normal. Congrats on the babe! GL ~spam
