Due Date

My last period was 29th April 2007 . I had a spot bleeding on 2nd May 2007 which was just a drop of blood . I went to doctor for check up and they did a pragnency check up for me and they have confirmed that I am Pragnent. The due data given for me is 17th Febraruary 2008. I just wanted to confirm why there is a more time after 9 months . As per my periods time my due date has to come to 29th of January 2008 but as per Scanning it is showing as 17th February 2008. Could you please confirm me why there is a diffrerence between the both.

When they calculate how many weeks pregnant you are, they count your last period as week 1, even though you weren't pregnant then. Then the week you ovulate is week 2. Then the week before your missed period is week 3. Then week 4 is generally when you find out you're pregnant. Then from there it goes up. It actually ends up being about 42 weeks since they count the first two weeks that you weren't actually pregnant at all. It is the easiest way they can figure your due date because people ovulate at different times. Hope this helps.
