I had an elected D&E at 19 weeks after months of heavy bleeding, constant threats of miscarrage (a suspected loss early on as we may have been having twins) the possibility of abnormalities due to prescription drugs taken (by my partner) during conception, all put together made our pregnancy extremely traumatic for us both and I in particular found it difficult mentally to take on. Although I thought I was making the right decision at the time this was mainly due to the fact that if I didn't have the termination that day I would have to travel over 200 miles from my home town to get a termination from 19 weeks onwards and I didn't want to be in a strange place away from family to do this. However I now really regret my decision as the anguish and upset before is nothing compared to the pain and loss now and miss my little boy so much. My loving partner and I want to try again as soon as possible, but don't know when is a good time to start. My D&E was on 3/9/09. I would be very grateful for any advice given.

Hi Suzeeo, I am so sorry for everything you are going through. It obviously was your gut instinct to go with that decision to do the D&E so just stick with that and in time, you will find peace with it. And just love on the little guy you have now as much as you can! I had a D&C on August 31st 2009, I was 11 weeks pregnant but the baby had stopped growing at 7 weeks. We were told to wait for one full menstrual cycle before we started to try again. I would imagine the same would go with a D&E. How many cycles have you had since then? If you have had a few then know that you are definitely healed. So as long as you feel emotionally up to it, I would say go for it!! Good luck!
