Hi ladies... well, I'm a little confused and I hope someone here can help. I went for my first ultrasound at 7 weeks 2 days and my doctor said "unfortunately this isn't a viable pregnancy" I was devastated. I spent three weeks planning and thinking I was going to have a Jan 2009 baby. I spent several $$$ on IUI and fertility drugs to conceive. But that part doesn't matter. My beta was 5,728. Well today I went in (it's been exactly 1 week since my last visit) and during my ultrasound my doctor said it looks like my body is absorbing the pregnancy. So I got my hcg levels back this afternoon and they are at 11,000. Obviously my body is not absorbing the pregnancy if my levels are rising. So my doc suggested ectopic. But is it possible, I've had NO bleeding, no cramps, no pain, (other than when I feel constipated) and today I'd be 8 weeks 2 days. Can ectopics go on that long with no pain? And during my first ultrasound, I SAW A BABY. So how could it be ectopic? what are symptoms I should have? am I in danger, or at risk of not having a successful pregnancy when I try again? I'm only 24 and I thought I was healthy!

Unfortunately, age and health have NOTHING to do with most miscarriages. Most of the time they are completely random so you have every right to believe you will have a healthy babe someday. But I am curious why your doctor thinks its not viable?

I'm not really sure why he said it's not viable during my first ultrasound. I remember looking over at the screen and seeing a baby, but not in a black blob (the sac?) I was too sad to ask why he was saying that.
