Zuleika: After 4 m/c's I was tested and found to have MTHFR. I was put on Lovenox starting day 6 of my cycle. I was also put on a baby aspirin and folgard(vitamin with high dose of vitmin B's and folic acid). Your body breaks down the folic acid so your body isn't absorbing it like it should. I will be 8 wks pg on Monday and maintaining with these meds so far. I do have a friend who also has MTHFR but because she hemorrhaged after a D&C she was only able to take the folgard and is expecting in April. From what I read it is recommended to stay on baby asa and the folgard because it can cause issues with heart disease as you get older. There isn't a lot of information out on MTHFR- What does your OB mean with the mutations have no medical value. I would question his plan just simply with the fact of the 3 m/c's. Hope this helps some. londa, minnesota/US |

Zuleika, Actually look at the positive here in that you were actually able to find out that you DO have these mutations. So many women have losses and never get an explanation. I have MTHFR and was also put on Lovenox and had my daughter this past July. I am sorry but you need to find a new dr. Is this a regular OB, a general practitioner or what? Having all of these mutations also complicates it further. Just having both mutations of MTHFR should qualify you for blood thinners during a pregnancy. I was on them and mine is only a single mutation. I strongly believe that a lot of dr's don't know that much about these things yet as it is still fairly new. No, baby aspirin alone is not the answer to your issues. I know you have a child already but I did a lot of research on this and it seems that many women with these mutations have children early on and the mutations become more problematic as they get older. You can and will have a baby just don't waste any time and find a new dr...possible a RE (reproductive endocrinologist) if you can or a fertility specialist who has knowledge of clotting disorders and recurrent pregnancy loss. |
