tknueven-- My losses were all later in pregnancy (between 15-22 wks). The research shows that the shot helps those with later losses(I have no idea why). I started the shot around 13 weeks. I still lost one while doing the progesterone injections but we weren't going to leave anything out. From what I remember, the suppositories help strength the uterus/wall or something for those with earlier losses or have low levels of progesterone.

Regarding the ureaplasma (bacteria), I actually noticed it. I requested copies of all the pathologies and noticed infection in 3 of them. I then asked my doctor about it and she thought that was really interesting that it was there in 3 pregnancies. The first loss they didn't look for it. I guess in 1999 they really didn't know anything about Ureaplasma. One loss looks like it was due to the MTHFR.

Oh, I had four different doctors over the course of pregnancies due to relocating and such. They might have noticed if I had the same doctor.........who knows.

Cassboyd---Just an fyi. I was pregnant 3 times in 3 years and then all of a sudden, nothing. It took me 2.5 years to get pregnant again. Then 3 more in two years. I truly do not know why, but the OB said a high protein diet helps. Does it? I really don;t know but I tried it.

Thanks for everyones answers. I have one more question for all you that have taken progesterone. HOw many milligrams were you on and for the heparin or lovenox how much did your doctor have you on? Thanks

soloporfe - June 20th, 2009 8:10 PM

I understand there is some risk of getting mercury or metals from a fish source. I found a DHA supplement specifically for pregnancy/nursing that is from a seaweed source, so no contamination. I'm so sorry for your recent loss.

My Lovenox is 40 mL/ 1x a day by injection, and my progesterone (Prometrium) was 200 mg/ 2x a day by suppository through week 12 of pregnancy.

Blessings,
Debbie

tknueven - My lovenox shots were 30mg once a day (and I still got a superficial blood clot!). But last week I switched to Heparin (I'm 36 weeks now) and I have to "shoot up" 2x a day with 10,000 (ml?) each. Just until birth, then afterwards I can switch back to Lovenox for 6 weeks.

ArmyWife73 - June 22nd, 2009 2:41 PM

tknueven - LOL I don't even know what dosage Heparin I'm on, 'ml' doesn't seem right, but it's 10,000 "somethings". One whole little vial, twice a day. Good thing I'm not a doctor!

Fad - June 23rd, 2009 2:42 AM

Armywife, please can you tell me what other medications other than the Heparin 10,000 are you talking ?

ArmyWife73 - June 24th, 2009 3:30 PM

Fad - I'm supposed to be taking 3mg Folic acid, but I think I'm taking less, around 2 or so. I take a Folgard everyday which has folic acid, B6 and B12, along with the heparin. I'm supposed to be taking Iron as well (for mild anemia) but I usually forget that, along with the baby aspirin. So much stuff to remember! Heparin shots are a pain, Lovenox are so much more convenient!

Fad - June 25th, 2009 3:58 AM

Thanks Armywife, and wish you all the best.

ArmyWife73 - July 2nd, 2009 1:05 PM

Fad - I was wrong on the dosage of Heparin - I inject 10,000U/ml twice daily. Well - when I can remember anyway. Looking forward to going back to the Lovenox after the birth, it's so much more simple. 2 weeks until my due date! Holy crap!

ArmyWife73,
I wanted to let you know that I am now 31 weeks pregnant and I wanted to thank you for your encouragement when you were 20 weeks. I am so excited I am having a little girl. Is your doctor going to induce you?

ArmyWife73 - September 1st, 2009 8:38 AM

Oooops guess I forgot to update on here - I gave birth to a perfect, happy, healthy baby girl on July 13 by emergency c-section. 6lbs 8.4oz, and 18in. She's now 7 weeks old and so beautiful, I wish I could post pics on here! All the worry I went through, all the meds I was taking, and everything turned out perfectly.

Nate_B - September 1st, 2009 8:43 AM

congrats ArmyWife. My wife is currently between 15 and 16 weeks and everything looks great! Due date is Feb.19th so still a ways to go, but we are excited. Very soon, I too will be able to feel the baby kicking...I can't wait!

M_Cherry - September 1st, 2009 3:55 PM

I just found out that I have a MTHFR mutation, hetero C. My story ... I miscarried in December 2008 at 6 weeks and my doctor did not run tests since it was an early miscarriage and my first pregnancy. I got pregnant again early February 2009. My son was still born on August 10th at 29 weeks. My doctor did not know what happened since my pregnancy was going normal, but she ran a lot of blood work after I delivered my son. I called the doctor to get my test results and found out about the MTHFR and have started researching like crazy for information prior to my follow-up with the doctor on September 11th. This forum has given me so much information. I am scared to death by some of your stories, but also see hope in carrying to term. This has been the most difficult thing my husband and I have ever had to deal with. Keep all the stories coming and congratulations to everyone.

Meredith

M_Cherry, I am SO sorry for your loss, I can't imagine what you must be going through but please keep hope that there are many positive outcomes, just read my post from yesterday. Hopefully your Dr will get you on the right meds, they're pretty simple, usually Vits B6, B12, extra folic acid, maybe Lovenox shots once you get pregnant. I'll be thinking of you and hoping that you get everything worked out!!

Hello to everyone,

Iam so excited to find this group. We have been trying for number two for over 4 years now, and have been down all avenues ( clomid IUI, IVf and even adoption )and all without a single pregancy. My IVF Doc recently ordered more tests and has told me that I have high homocysteine levels. He has run the test again to check this result and to check for the MTHFR gene defect- I'm awaiting these results..
we are currently on folic acid tablets 5mg and i will need to be on a daily injection if and when we become pregant. Has anyone had the same problems ? My doc is suggesting my homocysteine levels are causing implation failure.
My fist pregancy was uneventful until 3rd trimester when I was hospitalised with pre- eclampsia ( My son is now 9 and perfect - Well as perfect as 9 year old can be ... LOL ) My Doc is suggesting that this was related to this issue and that any further pregancies if any would likly to be at higher risk .
From what I have been reading it seems that you can have FTHFR and not have high homocysteine levels, but can any one tell me if I can have high homocysteine levels and not have the genitic mutation?
I am so excited to be able to talk to others who are having similar problems -
Thank you all
