I've heard of this happening before, so I'm not surprised by that. I just have a hard time processing it. I had my 4th daughter on June 24, 2007. At 39 weeks I'd had an u/s just to check positioning. During that u/s (not the first one I had btw) the tech and I discovered a completely separate sac from my daughter that had 2 fetal poles in it. (All 3 babies were connected to the same placenta, two were in one sac and my surviving daughter was in a separate sac.) The tech guessed they had stopped developing about 9 weeks but were never reabsorbed. I had several u/s's early on because I had an anterior placenta and the midwives had a hard time finding my baby's heartbeat. Those u/s's never showed these babies. I just get stuck on the - You have one healthy baby and should be happy for that - part. No one has said that to me, it's just my way of thinking. The same way I didn't deal with my c/s's for years. This makes me wonder though if there were others that I lost during my other pregnancies. To top this off, I became pregnant (we were TTC) last February and miscarried at about 9 weeks due to blighted ovum. We want to try again, but we are waiting for my husband to get another job.
