Tara- remember sperm can live up to 8 days in the tube, so I wouldn't worry. In fact, most doctors give or take 2 weeks. Yea, they give you a 2 week window. So 5 days isn't bad at all. Plus, its only estimated measurements anyhow. Email me at Jarhead4me2@aol.com and I will give you my 7.5 week ultrasound pic. You can see where my dr. started and ended the measurements. OR, if you have my preggo journal link, its in the first pic under photos. Anyhow, we knew our exact date of conception. Had it down to about the minutes. LOL... even only had sex one day and the first measurements gave me a due date of May 11th. We knew the real due date was May 9th. So, it was 2 days behind. Then the next ultrasound measurements weeks later gave us a due date of May 8th. So 3 days earlier than the first scan. Anyhow, you can have a scan by 2 different people the same day and have the measurement days off. Once again, its only a guess. As long as the heartbeat is showing good, your HCG is doubling, and the fetal pole is growing, it all looks good! It may just have implanted a few days later than ya thought. No biggie! :) ___Helene- I started my slight morning sickness at about 8 weeks. I believe I threw up only twice. Then when I was in my 3rd trimester is when I got real morning sickness. I mean, I could hardly brush my teeth. The spell of anything (even my hubby, lol) would make me sick. My sense of spell was so hightened in the beginning, but got even worse towards the end of the pregnancy which made my sickness even worse. So, morning sickness can come whenever. It doesn't always have to be in the beginning of a pregnancy and it doesn't always have to happen. There is just no way of knowing and every pregnancy can be different. I just hope yours doesn't get worse as you get further like mine did. ALthought the second trimester was the best for sickness, but the worse for backache.

Wow, I don't know why I kept typing "spell" instead of "smell" LOL... Sorry bout that!

Tara - It is perfectly normal for the measeuements to be "off" for the exact reason that Daniella said - you don't know exactly when you ovulated or implanted (well, some people do, but for most of its just a guestimate). AT the first u/s they had me at 6w 4d and I was 6w 6d, and the last one I think I measured exactly the same as the date or a day off (11weeks) and the docs seemed surprised both times that I was so close, s it really is not expected that you be the same. That is a good strong heartbeat for where you are at, so don't worry too much. Dawn - when I plugged my temps into the computer program it used that "rule of thumb" thing to throw out a couple of high or low temps, so I wouldn;t get too concerned about one odd temp, especially as other factors can affect your temp (lack of sleep, stress, illness), Coda & Daniella - Today was a better day, no puking, but lots of heartburn and a few moments where I could have. I spoke to the doc tonight and she called in a prescription for Zofran for me once she realized that it has been 6 weeks of this, and not just the last two or three weeks (which for some reason was what she thought). Smells do get me - like today I had an office duty where i cover for the secretaries while they are at lunch and I had to close the adjoining door to the other office because the vestibule in between is where they keep their microwave and stuff and someone must have mixed their tuna in there and i t was making ill. Two days ago I had to do the same thing because someone heated up a lean cuisine that I am sure under normal cirumstances would have smelled great but that day I swear it smelled like ALPO dog food and I was almost gagging for real. I had a great lunch today - this awesome wrap that tasted great but about 20 minutes later nearly came up (I keep food down better at school because i would rather die than throw up in front of my students - but there may just come a day!). Actually what has really killed me the past few daysis the HEAT! Schools up north are not air conditioned so it is awful! ANd my room faces the east so it heats up horribly. The only good thing is that 2nd period I have a student who has epilepsy and his seizures are brought on by heat so we can move to the computer room which is air conditioned. Of course, I don't tell the other kids about the student's disability so when they ask I just say its because I am about to puke if I stay in the heat any longer, and trust me, one look at me and they believe it (even if they do not yet know why). But it is true that i feel sick form the heat - I even brought my 7 th period class to the other computer room today becaues it ws so miserable and I was feeling so evil from the heat and I was a total beeatch! Fortunately we had a nice little rainstorm tonight that has cooled things down slightly.

TARA I always measured behind and usound tech wanted to change due date Dr said what do they exect you to have looking at my size..(I dont know if your a dot or not) but thats what Dr reckon so I did measure behind and still had 6ld4..7ld3..7lb8 and 7ld5 so even when I measured behind I still had a healthy norm weight at the end. HOpe your not worring too much its prob more the case of what Daniella said anyway. Good luck.

Helene- Not sure if you know about the risk level of meds... but there are different levels, kinda like approved by the FDA, etc.. well, for nausea meds during a pregnancy I would take Metoclopramide 10 MG. 3 X a day as needed for nausea. Not too sure about Zofran's risk level.. Even though I can prescribe meds (although not to myself, lol) I don't deal too much with nausea meds for the type of patients I deal with. I would ask your dr. about what level that med is and if its better than Metoclopramide. :) I am (well, was) very hesitant at what I took during my pregnancy. Even Tums, lol. Yet, my heartburn was so bad, I actually had zantac prescribed and didn't take it until the last couple weeks when it was just so unbearable. You wouldn't think that would be very safe during pregnancy, although most meds say there hasn't been any proof of problems, but the benefits outweigh the risks. I was in so much pain with my heartburn. I think its pretty funny when I hear that the more heartburn you have the more hair the baby is born with... cuz, my baby came out with more hair then a monkey. LOL... OK, not really... but, he had a head full of blonde hair. I couldn't believe it. Then my dr. made a joke about how I must have had real bad heartburn. I laughed!

Bee99 - June 2nd, 2006 12:21 AM

I had real bad heart burn with Rochelle my first and she was bald for a year or more I thought she was never gonna grow hair. LOL

Daniella - June 2nd, 2006 1:12 AM

Yea, my mom said hers was real bad while she was pregnant with me, but I was pretty much bald until I was 2. LOL.. I thought for sure my son was going to be bald also, but not a chance in hell. lol... ANyhow... I think there is a difference with how bad is bad also. What is real bad heartburn to me, is sometimes even before I got pregnant. ALmost like I had an ulcer. That bad!! But, when I was pregnant (Especially towards the end) there just wasnt words to explain or compare how bad it was. It was like dying pain. I'm talking I felt like I was on fire just drinking water. I would be holding myself over the toilet heaving because it burned so bad... I seriously mean, no words can explain. So, when someone says to my dh and I, "well, I had real bad heartburn also" my dh just looks like, "I dont' think you really understand" lol... just because he knows how bad it was for me. I would have to lay on my left side, after polishing off a number of tums, couldn't move or shallow, just to try not to cry. So, I really think every woman has heartburn (even real bad heartburn) during a pregnancy, it just depends on HOW BAD. ya know! I just dont wish that pain I had on anyone, not even my worst enemy.

LeraeAllyn - June 2nd, 2006 9:02 AM

Goodmorning Everyone - I am totally chuckling this morning about the bald headed babies and lots of hair babies and heartburn. I've never had heartburn and I hope I don't after hearing Daniella's story - Good lord :-( HELENE - Today is 8 days post the LH Surge and my temp was 98.52 this morning. Lately I feel like I need to pee more and have slight sensations in my abdoman. BUT not to say that means anything as I have had that before with no luck. I still remain hopeful and the end of next week can not come soon enough. I am debating if I do get a BFP if I will tell many people this time. My family is coming to visit us the 2nd week of August. If I am pg then that will put me at a good 10-12 weeks at that point. That might be a good time to surprise them if I am and all goes well. But I am not sure I can resist telling my mom. And of course I will have to tell all of you. We will see how it all goes I guess. HELENE - No AC at your school? Poor thing. I am almost always cold at my job but not right now, cap sleeve shirt and still warm. I can tell my temp is up. We have central air in our house but have probably turned it on less then 10 times in the 3 yrs we have lived there. It stays pretty cool and I can tolerate it unless it hits 80 or gets really humid. --- Dawn

Bee- your too funny!! lol

Daniella - June 3rd, 2006 12:13 PM

Bee (and/or the other that had given birth)- how long after you gave birth did you get your first AF?? I bled good for the first couple days after have the little one... then had been light for the next couple weeks. Pretty much stopped for a week now. Then yesterday/today I started bleeding like a normal period again. So, I wonder if this is my first AF. I wouldn't think it to be this soon (4 weeks) after giving birth, especially since I'm breastfeeding, but never know so just wondering if it could be it.

coda - June 3rd, 2006 9:45 PM

Hi! I am feeling much beter these past two days. Yesterday I took a zofran and it wiped out the nausea and vomiting and I ate heartily. Today I felt good at firts but then had soem mild nausea but did not take anything as I only intend to take it if I am extremely ill.I am really hoping that I on't even have to take t again at all. Daniella - Two of my friends have taken zofran and both their babies are fine. My doctor said it is safe to take it up to 3x a day, although I have no intenion of doing so. Like I said, I only plan to take it again if I am sverely ill and unable to eat. I looked up that other drug you mentioned and they didn't have much info on it either - seems both of them dod not have intensive studies done, but both have been said to be unlikely to cause any defects. I had to laugh at all the heartburn stores myself. I have had horrible heartburn that realy felt like battery acid in my throat. I only started to have "agida'" in the past few years and trust me it was rare and quite mild compared to this. I wasn't too thrilled to hear that it gets even worse as this already sucks. I find that milk is by far the best cure. Actualy the best thing is to take 2 tums and drink a nice cold glass of milk. I don't know about that bleeding Daniella, but I wonder if it is just a part of that lochia stuff and maybe it just ebbs and flows. I reda that breast feeding can encourage a heavier flow, but i don;t know why it stopped and started again. I agree that it seems unlikely you got a/f that quickly. Today I finally went out and bought some new clothes as I have no shorts that fit (and it is geting HOT) and I ventured into the maternity shops figuring if I was going to buy some summer clothes I amy as well buy some that will expand with me. It was very hard for several reasons - I am short, plus sized, and while I am toobig for clothes n my non-maternity size, I am toosmall for cloths in my maternity size. It was quite depressing at first. The first few shorts and t-shirts I found looked like I was wearing shapeless potato sacks and I almost cried thinking oh God, not only am I going ot be sick for nine months straight but i am goign to be dressed like the fat lady at the circus. Then I finally found a pair of shorts that were tailored (not shaepless sacks) and a t-shirt and two tops that had shape t them and they look great. Funny thing is that in my normal, big clothes (bought a size up) peopel would just think I am packing on some pounds and wouldn't be sure if I was pregnant, but in the maternity tops I defintiely look pregnant! Scary! And I haven't even gained any actual pounds yet! (actuallyi t is kind of nice!). I also bought the best thing in the world - a "snoogle" which is justa big body pillow curved at top and bottom. I hadn'tplanned on buyin ot for another month or two, but I have been having the worst time sleeping on my side. I am a back sleeper, and I feel off-balance on my right side, and I have a herniated disc on my left side, so despite starting out the night on my side, I keep waking up on my back, and I needed somethign to "hold"me in place and preventing e from rolling over on my back in my sleep. I just tried it out before and it is soooo comfy. WHen I heldit up in the store, dh was standing behind me and said,"I'LL USE IT!" and the sales girl cracked up. I also bought preggie pop drops so we shall see.

Helene - June 3rd, 2006 10:29 PM

Okay, is it me or is anyone else unable to get the spell check to work on here anymore?

Helene - June 3rd, 2006 10:30 PM

Dawn - was that layette you bought called Malawi? I saw one in kids-r-us today that was adorable and that is what it is called and it sounded so familiar, like i had heard the name before.

Helene - June 3rd, 2006 10:31 PM

Oh yeah - Dawn - here's hoping that temp stays up!
