Ovulation & TTC After M/C Part 5 !

Dawn- hubby and I had sex one night during the time I got pregnant... exactly 13 days after that night my HCG was 134. You ovulate for 2 days... I believe that we conceived on the 2nd day of ovulation... Anyhow, so yea.. 13 days after conception my HCG was 134. That same day right before I got my blood drawn I took an HPT that detect at 20. It came back so light I almost threw it out until right when I was about tossing it in the trash I noticed a few pink specs where the second line would be... I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but then I realized that as light as it is, its there. ANYHOW... so, I thought my HCG was probably at 25 and hubby thought it would be 50, so it was a huge surprise when the lab came back at 134. __Lavendar- the funny thing is dh and I always used lube and we ran out here in Japan since we would buy it in the states and had to go without.... just needed to have hubby work me up more before jumping into things, lol (sorry TMI) and thats when I got pregnant. I don't think it was a coincidence either because the few times we were lucky was when we ran out. The littlest things can make such a difference.. YET, if there is no way to do without then yea.. its best to use lube that works with sperm and not against. So, good luck with that!!! __Cbella- Oh, ok... are you using any OPK's as well?? The scope worked the best for me seeing that I'm military and never wake up at the same time every morning to do the temps and the surge strips was confussing and would show ovulation too late, etc.. but the scope gave me like a 3 day window and never failed me.. but, some didn't do well with the scope, so its all what works for you. Lets hope it wont matter here soon and you don't have to worry about tracking it anymore. hehe. :) ___Coda- How you doing girl?? I sure hope your taking it easy. If I didn't just give birth, I'd go down under to visit you and make sure all is well. :) ___Helene- hows the nausea pills working for ya?? __MelissaK- your doctor didn't give you birth control right after the surgery to make sure there isn't any possible way to have implantion occur in the uterus?? Sure dont want to hurt that healing uterus anymore right now.. gotta get it in great standards for when everything is all healed and can hold a pregnancy to term. :) Bet your pretty excited that everything is done and now its only around the corner to try. :) |

Yikes, sorry about the typos again. I type without looking at the keyboard, so I nearly typed that whole thing while mulit-tasking with the baby. Guess I should read what I just typed before I send. lol |

DANIELLA - So if I get the gist of what you are saying about your experience it is this. The HPT you took that was supposed to detect 20 mIU of HCG barely gave you a visible line. Even though the blood test came back that you were at 134 HCG? So what you are saying is there is still hope for me? I think you are right - like when I used the First Response tests I got nothing as well. Well I think you may be right. Today is CD33 -- today is 15days post the LH surge I saw on CD18 (May 25) and no sign of a/f. My temp was 98.05 this morning and I had to get up at 3am to be this morning AGAIN!!!! I am giving myseld until Sunday to see if a/f shows up and if not will test again ...... I am feeling happy at the moment but still wearing a pad just in case. Dawn |

Dawn- you never know... 14 days after ovulation/conception should show up positive on a test.. that is if you know the exact date. Since hubby and I only had sex the one night we cant really screw that up. lol.. so we knew our due date from the moment we found out we were pregnant. Anyhow, you aren't 100% sure and it may be early. So, yea.. if you haven't had any spotting yet, bleeding, etc. then yes there is still hope. hehe. My only other thought is maybe implantion did occur but for some reason it didn't take and so AF is delayed and causing not enough HCG to show up. IF that makes any sense. Anyhow, lets hope thats not the case and you will have a BFP here soon. When are you going to test again?? I am so excited for the possiblity. Gosh, that would be so absolutely neat!! Good luck |

DANIELLA -- Well, I looked back at the timing of my last cycles and I always got a/f 14 days after the LH Surge. If I had two days with a + OPK, I would get a/f 14 days after the 2nd + Strip. Today would be 14 days from a 2nd + Strip had I had more of the tests to use on CD19. So I am feeling farely good about my chances at the moment. Plus it is always possible that I got the surge but an egg did not pop out until a day or two later ..... I think my peak fertile day (judging by cm, was May 26, the day after the surge I saw) we BD on May 21, 22, 24, 25 and 26th that week. I just hope that my test was defective or something and I will see something this weekend. If no a/f by tomorrow I may test tomorrow or Sunday. What do you think? Dawn |

HELP!! Everyone-- I was surfing the net for info on my low bbt. It is has been in the 96s and hasn't gotten over 97.8 and I am near the end of my cycle. I started pulling up info on hypothyroidism--now I have panicked myself into thinking I have this condition and that I am doomed to have multiple m/c's. Here is what I experience that fall into the symptoms of hypothyroidism: low bbt, frequently cold, irregular periods, lot of hair shedding. I think my doc said he was going to test for "hormonal issues" but I am not sure which issues. Does anyone have any information on this? I am freaking out. I am due to ttc at the end of June/early July--but I don't want to get pg and have another m/c if the m/c can be prevented (like if I do have hypothyroidism) HELP! |

LAVENDAR -- OK, take a breath. And now another one. If you are genuinely concerned that this might be an issue for you, getting your thyroid checked is a simple blood test. I would talk to your doctor, find out what hormone testing he was thinking of doing and then tell him or her your concerns about possibly having this. The last thing you want to do is get yourself all worked up about this for nothing. The internet is great but sometimes does lead to self-diagnosis that may be incorrect. Talk to your doctor about all your concerns and questions. That is what they are there for. Hang in there and if you are not comfortable then you do not have to ttc this month, right? Dawn |

The Internet can be evil... Try not to do searches on such a broad thing.. .you can fit into hundreds of categories. On another note, it doesn't hurt to have your hormones chec as I posted a few back with that site, etc. Also, my normal average temp is 97.2 Each person has "their" temp. When my temp is 98+ then I am starting a fever. 98.6 doesn't mean everyone, thats just an average... You just have to know your own average. Anyhow, I'm sure all will be fine. If I had to guess, your condition sounds exactly like mine (and my sisters) in which you don't produce enough progesterone... Hey, any chance your athletic?? They say athletic woman are more prone to this. Not always, but it can have an affect. If so, its easily treated. My sister had no luck trying for 9 years, went on birth control to regulate her hormones, purposely missed a dose and got pregnant right away. Then had to do progesterone supplements up until 12 weeks. I went on progesterone supplements 13 days after conception and was the first pregnancy I kept to term. |

Hey - I can not believe I forgot to mention this. One day this week I had that very mysterious metal taste in my mouth. Yet another sign that things could be going my way this time around. Oh and I am waking up hungry (only had that the last time I was pg) --- Still no signs of a/f here either. Cross your fingers everyone. If I happen to test on Saturday I will try to get over to the library to log on and let you know the results. Because I am sure you are all just biting your nails in anticipation right? Ha Ha - Just kidding. But I know we are all rooting for each other on this quest for children. My mom did tell me recently that she felt a "Twinkle" in the air. That is what she calls babies to be. Dawn :-) |

Dawn--I AM biting my nails to know if you are pg! It gives us all hope and that is so important! Ok everyone--I am totally neurotic, I know it. :) I called my doc and asked if he tested me for hypothyroidism. They had and said I was normal (as normal as I can be I guess, ha ha). I really like my new doc--when I found out I was pg, I was seeing another doc in a large practice. He never really remembered me--when I went in for my first scan, the tech told me it might not be viable--so I had to wait 2 hours to talk to the doc about it, then they charged me for another visit. One day they told me the pg wasnt viable--then another day that my quants were fine--then the next day a doc I had never even met or heard of before said she didn't think the pg was "workin' out for me". When I started bleeding I called the doc and he asked me if it was my first pg--he didn't even know who I was! I had to go through the whole story again! Anyway--just had to get that out. My new doc is just by himself--no other docs, and the nurses are amazing!! |

Daniella--I am not athletic, I don't even work out on a regular basis--it's pretty sad. I am really thin though, so that probably explains why I am cold a lot of the time. According to the online bmi calculator my bmi is 19.4 which is on the low end of what they call "normal". My new doc said to let him know as soon as possible if I get pg again so that he can start me off of progesterone. So he must be thinking the same thing you and your doctor went through. Thanks! I feel better!!! |

LAVENDAR -- Well, thank you :-) I was just being silly about people biting their nails ... HA HA. I have to say right now that I do not feel well. Kinda ooozy or something. Could just be my work making me sick as I am sick of being here today but could be something else. I did some calculations and let's just say I did not spit out an egg until 5/27 and it can take up to 10 days to implant in the uterus. That would mean things just started rolling in there early this week. Could be very possible that testing on Thursday was too soon. I know my neighbor tested on a friday and got nothing and then again on Sunday or Monday and it was + I am still hoping for the best. As for you, I am glad your thyroid is OK and that you have found a doctor you connect with. That is very important. I too will be starting with a new group of OB's when this pregnancy happens. I was working with a group of midwives the first time but have since changed to my DH insurance and the midwives are not covered by it. I hope I connect with one of the 5 OB's at that office. It is the same place as where the midwives were so I know they can share my history from the m/c in October. Change sucks but I think that things happen for a reason. Dawn |

Dawn- it goes by how many days since ovulation... dont try to do the guessing with implantion, etc... because ovuation is 2 days.. it has to be fetilized in the tube by the time it reaches the uterus... HCG actually starts from the beginning.. so, it doesn't matter when it actually implants. Anyhow... it could have still been early though since you weren't 100% sure when you did ovulate. PLUS, your temp is still up and most off all AF hasn't showed yet. What is the longest time possible for AF? Today you said?? So, if still no AF by the weekend you should definitely test. Cant wait to hear!! |

Lavendar- that is just so wonderful that you found a good doc. It makes all the difference in the world. Are they going to run test right after AF? and then again about 16 days later to see if ovuation occured? |

DANIELLA - You are right, I saw an LH Surge on 5/25 but may not have actually ovulated until 5/27 & maybe conception did not happen until a day later. Egg can live 12-24hours. I think I am still good. Like I said, I have been getting a/f 14 days after the LH surge. That would put today as the latest I would have expected to get it and there is no sign of it. I was just on www.americanpregnancy.org and the pregnancy calculator puts me at 3 wks 6 days right now. it notes that some woman have no symptoms at this time but some experience mild cramping and increased discharge. That is exactly how I feel. The site also says that week 4 is the earliest you can detect with a HPT. It notes that some woman can take 2-3 weeks to produce enough of the pregnancy hormone for it to be detected. All in all, I am feeling very optimistic that the 6th cycle may have been lucky for me just like Coda and Helene. Speaking of those two - where are you girls and HOW are you? Dawn |
