Phew...just found out that you guys mived and caught up on my reading! Welcome to the new ladies, sorry that you have to be here, but find comfort in knowing we have all been there and it does get better. Hey, look at Daniella and Helene~! Glad to hear you BOTH are hanging in there. Nanabon, I am sorry, but self esteem issues are no excuses for possible unfaithfulness. Talk about with your wife...don't go looking for validation with strangers and play with fire! Especially, in your 1st year of marriage! Sorry to feel so strong about that, I just feel like he got caught and is making excuses to you. Too opinionated? i apologize. I am just hanging out to see where my cycle may be this month. I thought I noticed a change in cm but, i opk'ed 2 days in a row and the 2cd line was lighter than the control line which means a neg. Anywhoo, glad I found you ladies again!

Tansy - April 22nd, 2006 4:36 PM

Hi Christi, just thought I'd say keep going with the OPKs. I always used to get a + opk the day after I noticed a change in my CM but the month I got pregnant I had EWCM for three days with no positive OPK. On the third day I felt so sure I was about to get a peak I tested 3 times that day to no avail. That evening I got a weird tywinge on one side, did wnother opk when I got home (this was about 11.30 at night, way after you're supposed to test) and although I'd only tested a couple of hours earlier and got a negative result, the last time I tested it was positive! It was an odd cycle.

Christi2006 - April 22nd, 2006 7:13 PM

Tansy~the opk's seemed to work for me that is how i knew we were bd'ing at the right time the first time I got pregnant. The second time I had no clue, but that was 1 month after I m/c (naturally) and got pregnant again. I can usually feel when I am ovulating, but that month I didn't, had no idea I was pregnant, but just happened to find out 4 weeks along when I hpt'ed. I m/c that pregnancy on Jan 10th. I just had my 1st AF since d and c on April 6th. I think that my incling of ovulation this time around, is just a dream that my cycle might be back on schedule somewhat. Thanks for the encouragement!

lavinia - April 22nd, 2006 8:10 PM

Thanks Bee99, Tansy, good luck ttc I know what you mean about having no idea when u'll ovulate, I've heard u can ovulate anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks after the m/c. This last week has been really busy for me at work, very long hours & I think I may have already missed my ovulation. Have you been tracking your HCG levels to see if they've gone down?

Daniella - April 22nd, 2006 8:17 PM

Coda- well, its the 23rd here and still going strong. I even cleaned the house all day yesterday on my hands and knees trying to help things. Oh well!! _Helene- I walk more than 1/2 mile everyday. lol... and sex is almost every day, hehe.... I am taking the evening primrose oil orally now because the other day I opened up a gel capsule to rub the oil around my cervix and not only was my cervix pretty open (which we have known since I was 3 cm 2 weeks ago) but, I felt the little ones head. It scared the crap out of me. lol... So, needless to say, I am not going in there anymore. haha... Kinda wondering about sex now. I know they say it can't hurt up until the day you give birth, but his little head is sitting right there!!! So, I am a bit hesitant. Oh and Helene, its JDP the 3rd. ;) Calling him JD for short. Since my hubbys father was John, my hubby was Johnny, so he's not going to have any "John" type of sound in his name. LOL... So, just JD.

Daniella - April 22nd, 2006 8:17 PM

___Coda- ALso, I have gone through so many stages with my rings... In the first trimester and somewhat in the second I had to take my rings off because they would slip right off me. One day I was running to catch the train (yes pregnant) and it flew off my finger in the underpass where I almost lost it. So, I had to take them off so I wouldn't lose them. Then after I would fly my hands and feet would swell so much that I couldn't even turn my rings and that scared me. Now in the 3rd trimester, I go from having to take them off because they are too tight, to like today... where as I am typing, I am trying to keep them on because they want to slip off. So, I give up. I got my eyes checked a couple months ago and the eye doc wouldn't measure me for contacts until after JD is born because he said your eyes swell also. LOL... So, just hang in there.

Tansy - April 23rd, 2006 5:04 AM

Hi Christi, I know how frustrating it is not to know when ovulation is coming along. My first 2 miscarriages happened when I was actually on the pill and got breakthrough ovulation so I had no idea I was even ovulating at the time, then the last time I think I ovulated 5 weeks later, but my normal cycles were longer then. Just before I got pregnant this last time my cycles had shortened to 4 and a half/5 weeks so I have no idea what will happen. After my last m/c I just invested in a pack of internet cheapie opks and did them every day so I didn't miss it, which was helpful. Good luck waiting for O to arrive, I hope it doesn't take too long! Hi lavinia - Yes, I've been tracking my HCG levels. My GP didn;t seem especially bothered about tracking it so I have been doing an HPT every day and they've been getting gradually fainter. There's only a very pale line appearing now so my levels have trailed off quite quickly considering they were so high. Have you been tracking yours? I hope you didn't miss your ovulation - good luck TTC, it's so nice to have people to work though this with :)

Daniella - April 23rd, 2006 7:07 AM

Tansy- you should ovulate again once your HCG hits under 5... (yet, I'm pretty sure you know that)... so, hopefully it will be soon. It took my HCG to go from 9500 (the day I m/c) 4.5 weeks to get down to 5. At exactly 5 weeks post m/c is when I ovulated. So, only days after it was down to 5 I ovulated. I conceived without ever getting my first AF after miscarriage. So, technically my last AF was over a year ago. April 4th was the last time I had an AF. Seems like I've been pregnant for over a year. Wait, subtract the 5 weeks in between the 2 pregnacies and I have been pregnant that long. Yikes!! No wonder why I can't wait for him to come out of me. lol... ___Coda- think it is the 23rd every where in the world now, so that sucks. I was hope n'. ___Helene- (or anyone else interesting) the midwife at my hospital lent me a book to read and I am almost done with it. Its a very good book and I really think you would enjoy it. In fact, I keep thinking about you as I read it. You should look into it. Its called, "INA MAY'S guide to CHILDBIRTH" Its well worth reading. Let me know if you do. :)

Tansy - April 23rd, 2006 7:40 AM

Hi Daniella, I did know that but it always helps to have it confirmed. I've been keeping an eye on my HCG levels and today the line was hardly visible on a 10mlU (is that the right measurement?) test so I think my levels are dropping more quickly this time. I am so happy that you had such joy and success after your m/c - it's a real inspiration to me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I am as fortunate! Do you mind if I ask you a question? Were you actually trying to conceive again straight away or was it a happy accident? :)

Daniella - April 23rd, 2006 8:44 PM

Tansy- Yea I totally understand about still tracking ovulation. I did with the scope. Hubby and I would have loved to conceive right away, but we thought we just missed it because we were away for our jobs and didn't see each other until exactly the night we conceived when he got home. The 2 days before he came home my ovulation scope showed I was ovulating (or about to) so I thought for sure we missed it. We only had sex that one night also. 13 days later I decided to take a test... Why!? I don't really know. I think the only reason is because I had a metal taste in my mouth that I only had one other time in my life and that was when I found out I was pregnant last time. I was also on "provera" to jump start my period because it was 40 days after my D&C with no period yet. Well, I was given 7 pills, and I had a feeling if there was a slight chance we conceived, that ended the last pill would force a miscarriage... so, day 6 of 7 of the pill I decided to take a HPT. I didn't even see a second line and was tossing it in the trash when at the last second I seen a few pink specs in the second line. I thought it was my eyes playing tricks on me. This was even the 4 or 5 day early test and it was 13 days after conception so it should have been normal color, but it was real light, almost not there. I decided to call and ask if the "prover" would make me get a false positive and they said, no and to come in. Hubby and I went to the clinic shortly after and I thought my HCG would be about 20 or 25 since the test was an early test... and hubby thought 50.. To our surprise my HCG came back at 134. I got them checked 46 hours later and it was at 370. So definitely a new pregnacy. I have no idea why the test showed light. Funny thing is, on my last pregnancy it showed so dark and my HCG was hardly anything. I give up on the darkness/lightness of those test. Anyhow, we were definitely thrilled, (perhaps not joy) but concerned as well. We wanted to make sure it wasn't in the tube again. Since I only have one tube left, it makes it much worse. If I lose that then the only way to have a baby is IVF. And I don't much believe in that.

Daniella - April 23rd, 2006 8:49 PM

Tansy- does your test say it detects HCG at 10?? I know the 5 day early test detect at 20 and you still have a chance that it won't even pick that up. At least you know you are on your way down and just do lots of bding from here on out to about the next 2 weeks... Only have to every other night. ;) Good luck!! Also, since you are tracking ovulation as well... you might see that ovulation is coming. What would happen if you went to the clinic and ask if they can check your blood serum HCG levels?? Would they tell you NO?? Can you do it out of your own pocket??

Tansy - April 24th, 2006 4:35 AM

Hi Daniella, That's such a great story about how you found out you were pregnant again - I'm so happy that things worked out so well for you! I hope I have such a happy story one day, too. The tests I've been using are ones I bought in bulk online. I know it can be a bit of a gamble doing it that way but they're very cheap so really nothing ventured nothing gained! I had some at 20 sensitivity, some at 15 and some (just a few) at 10. I started with the 20 and moved to the 10 when the line got very faint. Today it just looks like an evap line, even with fmu. I suppose I could ask for my HCG to be tested, but the NHS isn't great here in the UK and I know they would kick up a fuss, plus sometimes you can't get blood tests done until a couple of weeks later. I have to admit, I am completely phobic of doctors because of some bad experiences I've had where operations have been screwed up and medications have been wrongly prescribed so if I *can* avoid going then I will, and recently I've spent half my life there! As long as the line disappears completely over the next couple of days I'm confident that levels are dropping. I'm trying charting for the first time as well as taking OPKs because I discovered through the issues that happened with the pregnancy that I tend to ovulate twice a cycle, at slightly different times (I had damage to one tube and ovary from cysts and it seems that causes one egg to release a while after the other. I've no idea why!) so I thought it might be interesting to see what charting shows. The only thing is, I keep having dreams about taking my temperature because it's on my mind that I have to do it when I wake, and then when I do wake up I can't work out if I've already taken it or not! You're right about the BDing, we've been looking forward to getting to that! :D

Daniella - April 24th, 2006 5:33 AM

Tansy- hmmm, that is a shame that you are in a situation where you almost feel bad to go seek medical attention. It should never come to that, but unfotunately it does far too often. Where in the UK are you?? Is there any way to "shop" for a good doctor?? Its just so sad that you feel the way you do. I know asking for a test can sometimes be a bit nerving, but its your body. You have to keep telling yourself that. This is your body and you deserve anything you want for/with it. At least you are ahead of the game and aren't ignorant when it comes to HCG, and such. That is good!! As far as ovulating twice in one cycle... I don't really believe in that. Even with ovarian cyst, cancer and/or tubal problems. The very rare chance of ovulating twice in a cycle is usually caused by hormone changes.. Yes, ovarian problems can result in that, but ovarian cyst are unlikely. If so, I couldn't see it happening more than once. To ovulate twice in one cycle ONE time is rear.. To happen again my mean needing to talk to a specialist. A lot of times it may seem like you ovulate twice where in reality the first time the egg never really fully expelled from the ovary but all the signs showed it did... but, then it really does shortly there after. The female body is a miracle in the works. hehe... Did they ever come to any kind of conclusion to why.what, perhaps, caused you to miscarry?? I know you said it wasn't your first m/c, and you m/c naturally.... so, my question is... have you ever given birth? How and what happened with your other loss(es)?

Tansy - April 24th, 2006 6:02 AM

Daniella, I never believed that it was possible to ovulate more than once a cycle either until I started taking notice of my body and asking questions! Some doctors point blank refuse to acknowledge that it's possible, but others have taken on board recent research that has shown it can happen. I have no idea why the damaged ovary would release an egg slightly later, I can only go by what the doctor and midwife suggested. I'm no medical expert, all I have to go by is my own body! I have never given birth. I have never been fortunate enough to carry a pregnancy beyond a few weeks. I miscarried twice while I was on the pill (I have a long history of health issues, one of which is endometriosis for which I was put on the pill. Sadly the hormone levels in the pill were never strong enough to suppress the bleeding enough to really help - the only high dose pill available in the UK that worked for me was withdrawn because not enough people used it, and he only remaining high dose kind just made me bleed non-stop) and I started getting breakthrough ovulation. I had a very early miscarriage last year in which my hormone levels just weren't increasing enough so the pregnancy 'wasn't viable'. This time, the baby stopped growing at 5 or 6 weeks and I started bleeding at 8 weeks. It turned out there was a twin which died earlier in the pregnancy too. I just feel like a medical mess :( I am just hoping that perhaps this last pregnancy has helped to clear the way for a healthy pregnancy in the future.

LeraeAllyn - April 24th, 2006 10:41 AM

Hi Everyone - Lots of activity on here since Friday. I just skimmed things looking for msgs directly to me. I was sick all weekend. Bad bad headcold. Used nearly a whole box of kleenex kind of weekend - I hate that. Did come to work today but wish I had not and might go home early. DANIELLA - Today is CD17 and yesterday I saw the LH Surge on my OPK. We may miss our chance this month though dammit. We BD on Friday night cuz I just new the LH surge was going to show up soon. BUT DH got too sensitive and did not do his business. I was pretty much out of it Saturday feeling like crap. We BD last night and that went well :-) Tried again this morning and that did not go well. I am so frustrated. I told DH that his part should be the easy part but you know how it goes sometimes. So I hope to mess around tonight and tomorrow just to make sure we got things covered. Especially if I see an + OPK this afternoon too. One month I did have a dark line two days in a row and the LH surge had to have just started yesterday. So that is where I am at. Good thing is it came around the same time - last month was CD17. As for you, I hope you have that baby soon. You could actually feel his head? Yikes. Oh and I know what the Zanibar theme is - taht might be Kidsline too. Cute - Dawn

LeraeAllyn - April 24th, 2006 11:49 AM

HELENE - I have yet to check out the book you have been referencing. I just hope that we did not blow it for this month. On Sunday I did not even attempt to take my temp since I was so congested and could not breath thru my nose even for 2 minutes to do it. This morning though my temp was over 98 degrees for the first time since I started checking it on 4/14. I am taking that as a sign that I am indeed ovulating now like the OPK indicated yesterday. I will be so bummed if we missed our chance this month. DH knows we will be doing our thing today when I get home again...So, any idea what your due date is yet? You are in your 9th week right? Dawn
