Hi DANIELLA -- Well, in my attempt to not obsess as much, I stopped carrying around my "cycle calendar" everywhere I go a while back . So, let me see what I have on my regular calendar regarding my lh surge and a/f. From what I can tell I am getting a/f on or around 14 days after I presume I have ovulated based on the OPK. As I mentioned in the past, I will often have two days with a + OPK so I would count following the 2nd + result. Here is how many days I got a/f after the LH Surge was detected and how long my cycle was for the cycles I have had so far this year: Jan/Feb = 13 days after w/a 34 day cycle. Feb/Mar = 14 days after w/a 37 day cycle. Mar/April = 14 days after w/a 31 day cycle. April/May - 14 days after w/a 31 day cycle. May/June = 16 but most likely 15 days after (this was when I only had 5 strips left and was only able to test up to the first +opk - most likely I would have had a + the next day too which still would have made it 15 days) and had a 34 day cycle. Does this help? I feel like my cycles have been looking pretty good. That ia assuming I am ovulating when I see the surge. This is my 3rd month of taking my BBT in the morning. The first two months it did appear like I had the therman shift after presumed ovulation. What are your thoughts? Dawn

HELENE -- My insurance really is not that bad. I actually changed to my husbands because the monthly premiums are less then us each carrying single coverage and it will be a huge benefit when I do get pregnant. All I will have to pay is a $10 co-pay for the first office visit and NOTHING after that. With my single insurance I had to pay a $250 deductible and $1,000 out of pocket before stuff would be covered at 100%. So we will definitely be saving money. My new clinic is great, very efficient, access to my test results online and able to email my doctors. The issue is that all I really need to go in for right now is my annual pap and my regular doctor CAN do that. I do not have to see the OB's for that. My only thought was I intend to work with the OB's once I do get pg so I saw this as an opportunity to get in there and start a relationship. But that is OK, my time will come. I will see my new doctor at the end of July and will have all this cycle information to share and she can make an assessment of things. I do agree that the US sucks for maternity leave. They do not even call it that here. It falls under Short Term "Disability". I get 4 weeks paid at 60% for a vaginal and 6 weeks for a c-section. But there is a 2 week waiting period to get that pay. Also, I can take 12 weeks off for FMLA but that is not paid. I will have to use my PTO to pay for any premiums I pay and to have any income during that time. Pretty lame :-( Dawn

Hey Dawn- Yup.. your regular doctor can do everything an OB can aside from the extensive testing. Even a regular doctor can send you for hormone testing without any problems. Anyhow, just make sure at your apt. you tell your doc what you'd like and ask all the questions you can. You really dont need to go to an OB until your pregnant, so you should be fine. At least your getting a pap done and can talk to the doctor. Thats a great start!! AND your getting AF roughly 14 days after ovulation. Your doctor can test to make sure exactly the dates since the OPK's are only an estimate... but, not sure if thats covered. Anyhow... whens your apt.?? I gotta go in for my pap on the 27th.

Helene, I was on paid maternity leave after having my daughter Destinee. It was around 60-70% . It was really nice to have that whole year and still get paid. I did not return back to work though, when my daughter was a year we concieved my son.

LeraeAllyn - June 22nd, 2006 12:10 PM

DANIELLA - My appt is scheduled for July 27th at 3pm. They did put me on a waiting list and will call me if there is a cancellation and can get me in sooner. But like I said, I am fine with that timing. That gives us this month to TTC and if not then I will not have my period when I go on the 27th. I am going to be armed with all the information I have been keeping track of since January about my cycles, OPK, Temp etc etc. and see what her take is on things. Since I know my thyroid and prolactin levels are normal, i guess the next thing to check is if I am getting all the right hormones for ovulation. The FSH, LH, and so on. One thing that I am noticing is I feel like I am getting a cold or at least stuffed up around the time I am going to ovulate. I think that has happened at least twice and now today I am stuffed up and feeling a little sore throat coming on. Anyone else experience this? I do not think I will be due to ovulate until early next week but maybe I should start my OPK tests sooner. I was thinking tomorrow or Saturday - maybe tomorrow for sure....Dawn

Hi ladies, i got my doppler today and its the coolest thing. I don't think I could ever survive through a pregnancy without one. I found heartbeat within minutes and Im only 9 weeks 5 days. I guess it helps that I used one before and got used to the positions where baby is hanging out at different stages (it took me 4 hours to find Treya's first time). Heartbeat was 165bpm this evening a little slower then earlier at 175bpm. I recommend one to anyone that is a nervous wreck during pregnancy like myself.

Bee99 - June 22nd, 2006 11:57 PM

HELENE like coda said if you work for the government you get paid not any other jobs though that I know of but you do get up 12 months off where they have to take you back I actually quit and said on my last day Im never comming back (all in fun and was rubbing it in) but I did and they called it maternity leave anyway and took me back full time.

Daniella - June 23rd, 2006 5:35 AM

Dawn- Thats great you have all your questions ready at hand for your doctor. If you show determination, it will push your doctor to get down to business much more. My apt. is on the 27th as well. She's just going to check to make sure everything looks OK from giving birth and take a pap, etc. I am also going to ask about birth control. My only question is... I thought you have to start birth control on the first day of your period. Well, it can sometimes take months to get that first AF after giving birth, so I wonder what she is going to do. I know they wont jump start an AF with provera just to get someone on birth control... hmmm. I also think I am going to give up breast feeding. My diet has been horrible since I gave birth and I hate having to watch everything I eat. I think I weigh less right now then before I got pregnant. Anyhow, I am just on the verge of giving up. It seems JD is so much more content with formula anyhow. He doesn't fuss at all with it and he sleeps great. Where it seems so many things I eat make JD fussy and he doesn't sleep long and cries more. I've been mixing both lately and has been working good. At least that way he is still getting some of my milk... but, since I am not exclusively breat feeding, Im not expressing as much and it takes longer and longer to get less now. My best advice to anyone that is TTC or is preggo right now is when you do get pregnant and/or deliver, make sure you dont have any long term guest visits for the first month. Its OK to have visitors to stop by and leave, but when they stay the night things start to get screwed up. The first month, (espcially that first 2 weeks) really needs to be just the baby and you (and of course hubby). Just get settled in and then have visitors. It will make life much easier. lol.

Bee99 - June 23rd, 2006 7:31 PM

DANIELLA Yeah thats was always my question DH said did you take the pill yet I said oh I forgot (it would have been my first) he said thats a good start then I remembered that like you said you have to wait for a/f. This pill I will be taking if taken right that is inside 1 hr each day has a 96% rate DH told his work that three girls will be away tonight they are going to dysney on ice with MIL guys being guys were talking it up "So big night hey" nudge nudge OMG men he rekons 9 months apart would be too close I told him it would be actually 10. No we are not going back for any more but I got to tell you this pill and me have not done much for the stats.

Daniella - June 25th, 2006 9:31 AM

Bee- HAHA!! Thats too funny! Although, it would actually be 11 months for the earliest. Your actually pregnant for 10 months and another month (for the earliest) for the pregnancy hormones to get out of your system to ovulate again. lol... There is no such thing as 9 months apart unless the second was born early. So, what do they do if you have to get AF first before you start the pill? Do you hang on to it until AF comes and pray you dont ovulate first. I know that it is a very tiny chance to ovulate before that first AF after giving birth. Very tiny!! That is why they call that first AF "the warning period"... lol.. Anyhow, lately I've been having a lot of cm lately. Have no idea what that is about. Its like I have to wear a pad for it. I know it cant still be from having the baby because he was born 7 weeks ago and everything finally went back to normal and now this. I did have some weird spotting on the 11th which I figured was just old preggo stuff finishing out. BUt, now I'm wondering if that was indeed AF and now I am ovulating. I have been using my ovulation scope and got a big fern on the 18th and only trans. since. So, that wouldn't make sense unless I ovulated only 10 days after the spotting. I guess we will see if I get AF in 2 weeks from now. At least hubby isn't around so I cant get pregnant if this is ovulation cm. If not, I wonder why I'm so wet (sorry TMI).... Gosh, I never really thought too much about this before. Hey anyone else here NOT getting the forum in your Email lately when someone posts?? I had to go on the site to check since they aren't coming in my Email. Weird! ____Helene- Again... Part 6?? lol

Bee99 - June 25th, 2006 9:44 PM

yeah 11 months ...and yeah I waited am waiting for af to take pill. I think they tell you to use protection actually doesnt say anything in the instuctions about what to do b4 you begin taking them. Cant explain cm maybe it was a/f.

Daniella - June 26th, 2006 12:33 AM

Bee- you shouldn't ovulate before your first AF after having a baby... so, that is probably why its OK to wait for the first one to take the pill... but, man.. I know some woman dont get that first AF for months. Naw, cm wasn't AF, but maybe ovulation (unless thats what you meant) if my spotting was. But, once again... gotta love trying to figure out your body when trying to get back on track. Hey Bee- are you getting the forum notices in your Email inbox?? ____Everyone else- How you had a great weekend!!!

Daniella - June 26th, 2006 12:36 AM

LeraeAllyn - June 26th, 2006 11:00 AM

DANIELLA - Wow, I was out sick on Friday (my tell tale runny nose turned into a full blown head cold - which, by the way, for three months it a row on either CD13 or CD14, I have had the starts of a headcold and sore throat - figure that one out) and did not get to the library to check the forum. Thought there would be allot more posts since my last one on Thursday. I am looking forward to my doc appt on July 27th that is for sure. Today is CD17 and from what I can tell I have not ovulated yet. Temps are still in the low range and I did my first OPK test last night. Will continue this week and see. I am guessing my cold slowed things down a smidge. Hopefully this can be our month, we will see. So, you may stop breastfeeding hugh? I am sure that would be fine, it is allot to watch your diet for 9 months and then have to continue to do so after baby is born. Sounds like Little John likes formula and you knwo he is getting enough nutrition. Have to do what works best for you both. I think you are so right about not having allot of people around in the beginning - So right :-) Dawn
