PLACENTAL ABRUPTION

Abigailsmommy, I am so so so very sorry for your loss. I just felt choked up reading your post. I cannot imagine what you must be feeling. I have not had a loss so late, although I've had several early losses (first trimester) and then went on to have my daughter this past summer. She was my first. So the doctors gave no clue or hypothesis as to what they think may have happened? Is a placental abruption like a blood clot in the placenta? I know there are many clotting disorders that often don't surface or become problematic till later (30s +) and that is why I ask. If you had your son with no complications I guarantee your next try will be a success! Don't give up, that's what my doc always told me. I'm sure they will watch you MUCH more closely (and examine the placenta via u/s) more often b/c of what happened. Good luck!!!! |

Abigails mommy....... I am so sorry for your loss. We all know how hard it i to lose a child...no matter how far we made it in our pgs. ALthough I can never imagine being a week away from delivering. I know a woman who had a placental abruption also withing a week or so of delivering...she went into terrible pain, went straight to the hopital and they delivered the baby. The baby does have some brain damage...but is alive and healthy. They now are pg with their second and due to deliver soon. You very well can have a another healthy pg with no problems...but your OB should be watching you and your placenta much closer. STEF...placental abruption is where the placenta tears away fromt he uterine wall and cuts of oxygen to the baby. That is why when it happens women lose the baby. It is such a terrible thing...I am So very sorry you had to go through this. One thing...I am not sure why they are making you wait a year to get pg again. Your body should be healed way before then, even your incision. Well..best of luck to you and your dh in ttc again and i will pray that you get a very healthy baby and pg next time !!! |

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND RESPONSES. STEF THE DOCTOR TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE PLACENTA AND SHE SAID THEY JUST WERE NOT SURE WHY THIS HAPPENED. NOT THE ANSWER I WAS LOOKING FOR. IT HAS BEEN VERY HARD ON US. I WAS 39 WEEKS AND WE WERE ALMOST THERE. THE WORST PART ABOUT IT HAPPENING SO LATE IS WE HAD EVERYTHING READY-HER BED AND ALL THE CLOTHES SHE HAD GOT FROM 2 BABY SHOWERS AND EVERYTHING ELSE I GOT. I HOPE WE WILL BE ABLE TO GET PREGNANT AGAIN AND IF I DO I WILL GO TO A HIGH RISK OB THIS TIME. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR REPLIES. |

Abby 's mom ,thanks . I know it's hard ,yesterday I went for my 8 weeks post partum check up. I spoke extensivly to my ob , This was my 3 c section she told me and I knew already but was hoping to start trying again after 9 months ,idealy even wait a year before getting pregnant , the uterus nees time to rest and after c section the wait is longer then vaginal delivery ,it is a major abdominal surgery , For me the great news was no sact tissue or adhesion ,I healed great from previous 2 c section. You probably know that after c section you are more prone on having placental issues but then again it depends , I told my ob I can never go another loss so I 'll do whatever it takes to assure a healthy pregnancy ,more check ups ( for me doppler of the umbilical cord) and at this point wait till sept and then star trying again. |

I wish you the best too. Keep me updated. I think i healed pretty well from the first c-section especially considering it was 7 years before I got pregnant again. I healed well this time too. So hopefully we can start TTC around the same time. Wishing baby dust for both of us. Just better outcomes this time around. |
