Hello quick question. I am cd 28 have been inserting progesterone supp since 2 dpo's I am cd 28 today.Usually get my af on cd27-28. My BBT is still elevated this morning but I had slight brown spotting when I wiped last night (cd27) I inserted tapon last night thinking af was here. But this morning hardly anything spotting at all?? I also stopped taking th supp last night thinking af was here but after my high temp this morning I took another progesterone supp this morning.
Does anyone know if progesterone can cause a delayed af and higher bbt's around time of af? This is my first cycle using the progesterone. This is also my first cycle after a chemical pregnancy and the cycle b4 was miscarriage and a D&C.
Anyway help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am off to go buy some hpt's just in case.
Thank you

Hello..quick update took a hpt and bfp! So I guess the spotting could be implantation, although I have never experienced that. I have had 3 losses in the last year 5 in total. I also have a 2 year old. So here I go again. Wish me luck.

It is perfectly safe to take progesterone after you are pregnant. My doctor keeps me on it for the first 12 weeks. Then the ovaries quit producing it and the placenta takes over, so you don't need to after that point. I know b/c my ob/gyn just told me this today. Good luck!!!

Kristin...most OBs will keep you on progesterone for atleast 12 weeks. And then your placenta should be strong enough to take over. You Dr sometimes will take you off it a little sooner if they feel you dont need it anymore. Again..Good luck to you !!!

Hi Kristin- I took progesterone supp. up until 13 weeks of pregnancy. They are safe to use and won't harm or the baby! Good luck!

Hi Kristin! I also did progesterone suppositories from 4 weeks to 14 weeks of my pregnancy. I did 300mg per day of prometrium inserted vaginally. They were awesome b/c they were not messy like the wax bullets I'd used in prior, unsuccessful pregnancies. I actually had spotting too. I remember I got my bfp on Oct. 31 and then saw the dr. on Nov. 2....I was probably about 4weeks and 2 days along roughly. Anyways, I went to use the restroom before my appointment and wiped bright red blood. I lost it and was bawling when I went into the appt. So the dr. had my hcg drawn and we waited there to get the results. It was like 968 or something crazy like that. My progesterone was high like yours too which is great! Anyways, I had a tiny bit more spotting that day or the next and then it was done, so I believe it was implantation because my daughter is now 6 months old!!! Good luck to you, I so hope this is it!

Hi. I used progesterone supp. starting from day 1 of my pregnancy and I too had bleeding after about a month, 30 days pregnant. Mine was just attachment bleeding along with irritation with the supp. Maybe that is what yours is too.

Hey all: I just started taking prometrium 200 mg in the am and pm. I started right after ovulating. I've had 3 mc's so I requested the prometrium but don't know if I actually have low progesterone. I'm worried because I've heard that the extra progesterone could just prolong a mc...but then, I guess that's the risk you take, huh?
Kristen - how is everything?

stefkay - February 24th, 2009 11:50 AM

Dayanarella, I worried about that too but was told by a fertility specialist that if the pregnancy is going to fail it will regardless of the progesterone suppositories.
