Hi everyone,
First, I am sorry for your losses. I have experienced two miscarriages and know the pain of loss. I want to share my story briefly with those looking for some happy endings - especially for those with MTHFR gene mutations.

I remember looking at the forums and seeking some glimpse of hope after my losses and feeling sad to see not so many "good news" stories that would give me some hope. I decided if I had success with my pregnancy, that I would return to do so...

And I have! After two back-to-back miscarriages, I have a beautiful baby girl.

Quick history: I have one wonderful son Andrew born without issue, then two miscarriages in a row. I was tested along with my second angel baby, a baby girl with no chromosomal abnormalities. My testing showed that I was homozygeous MTHFR (double mutation) - apparently the type that could potentially cause issues with pregnancies.

I spoke with three doctors for recommendations on next steps: 1) a blood doc, 2) my OB 3) a perinatologist - I made the decision to go w/extra folic acid and baby aspirin. They suggested I try one more time w/o heparin - and perhaps try heparin if I had another miscarriage.

After recieving counseling for my losses and lots of family love and support, my husband and I tried again. We were blessed with our daughter Lauren 10 months ago. She and her brother are doing great.

I still take my folic acid every day. I also take a baby aspirin. This may seem silly, but every time I take it - even now - I am grateful. I am grateful to my doctors for their support and for those little pills that I believe helped me and my daughter through the pregnancy.

Another happy story - unrelated but worth sharing. I was pregnant at the same time of two other friends who both struggled for 2-4 years to get pregnant after miscarriages. They both have beautiful healthy babies after getting pregnant naturally. Good things can happen even after the depth of loss and pain of losing a child during pregnancy. Blessings to all of you.
