I read a miscarriage occurs in the first 20 weeks but can it happen after that?

they call it a miscarriage if it happens before 20 weeks, if it happens after 20 weeks its called a still birth. you even have to fill out a birth and death certificate. and although it does happen after the 20th week, its not as common.

As Jo said, it's not all that common, but it does happen. I know a girl that lost her baby in her 5th month! Terrible! It happens 1:1000- 2 sperm penetrated the same egg and I guess it took that long for them to realize.
