I took a hpt on Dec. 25 and it was positive, then on Dec. 27th I started spotting, I called the doctor on the 28th and they sent me for blood test that showed my hcg levels were not rising and I was having a miscarriage. I have been spotting since and I have taken a few hpt's and they are still showing positive. HELP!!!

The pregnancy hormones can sometimes take a while before they can get back to zero, so a test could show positive for a while. You may want to tell your doctor that you are still spotting, my doctor removed the excess tissue from me, and it stopped the bleeding within a few days. He said that that is what makes the bleeding continue. Good luck!

A HPT detects HCG levels at 40 and up.. and the hormones are most likely still at or above this level..Sorry to hear of your loss.

It still says positive now after that long? I had a D&E at the end of Jan and my tests say negative. I don't know if it's different with a regular mc. Have you been ttc?

I wonder why women are so afraid of the D&C?Natural or surgical..both are miscarriages. The D&C removes all conceptual material and allows your body to return to normal much quicker.Chances are even if you miscarry "naturally" you won't expel everything and still need the D&C.You would be asleep for the procedure which takes about 10mins. TRaces of HCG vary among women, also dependant on how far along the pregnancy was.
