I sent the tissue from my third m/c out for testing. There are only a few labs that do the test. We are still waiting for results. Our lab said it would take 6 weeks since they are trying to grow tissue. If it comes back postive for a genetic problem then we will be doing karotyping testing on both me and my husband.

I lost Sophia on 8/11/05 at 34 weeks and I did the testing. But they didn't find anything wrong with the placenta or my blood and she was a healthy baby girl.

I also had the fetus sent for pathology and testing. It was my first pregnancy--11 1/2 weeks. The doctor said they normally don't test after a first m/c but I was so distraught thinking that I may have done something to cause it (totally did not realize that couldn't be further from the truth). I wouldn't say the doctor was supportive but told me that 1.) they probably wouldn't be able to find anything and 2.) it would be costly and most likely insurance wouldn't cover it. I asked for it to be sent anyway. I have mixed emotions about doing it. I found out that it was a girl and that there was a chromonsonal abnormality. I'm glad to know that it was not something that I did to cause it and realize that it probably won't happen again if I do get pregnant again--however, knowing it was a girl and my husband really wanted a girl, makes it harder, I think, for him to handle this all. At least now I don't have to always wonder. Good luck.
