I miscarried ten weeks ago. No sign of a period. Did ultrasound and was told there is matter left in me from m/c. Doctor said it was urgent that I came in might have to have surgery. Hormone levels are still dropping really slowly even after ten weeks. She said they should be '0'. If I needed a d&c shouldn't they have known that when I had the m/c? After ten weeks is this a really bad sign?Has anyone had this happen? Please, anyone??

Hi. I too experienced a complicated pregnancy. With my son, I bled after I had him for over 50 days! Crazy. I called and like you had an u/s done, and had to have an emergency d & c. It's a very quick procedure. They don't want anything left in there for fear of infection. You should be ok. I also had a miscarriage in Oct of 2004. It's so heartbreaking. I was 8 weeks along. I know what you are feeling. I had to go in the next day after I found out there wasn't a heartbeat and have a D & E. Basically the same as a D & C. My thoughts and prayers with you. As for the hormone levels, I don't know anything about that. Sorry. Best of luck to you in the future.

I don't think it's so unusual to still have beta levels in your system...I think there is a slight trace at all times..just not enough to be detected on a HPT.If there is still conceptual material it does need to be removed. Not to alarm you but better health care should have caught this, yes.Other than infection I don't think you need to worry.Do you have a temperature?
