I see the Doctor on Wednesday morning, so hopefully I will have some answers soon. I will let you all know

Mandy - May 30th, 2005 4:00 AM

To Dominique- I had 2 blood tests done, the first one my doctor didn't check my hCG level for some unexplained reason. She only checked my hormones to make sure everything was working the way it should be, which they were. I had a blood test done in the ER, and that was negative. I guess some women just don't produce the hormone or enough of it for it to show a positive result? I tried all kinds of different hpt's, all of which were negative. I thought that maybe it was because of the brand that I was using, but I tried a lot of different brands and got the same result. I was starting to doubt that I was actually pregnant, but at the same time I couldn't ignore all the symptoms that I was experiencing. I had to have a physical last month, and I saw a different doctor and I was asking her questions about pregnancy tests, and she informed me that once you're a few months into your pregnancy that hpt's show negative because your levels decline to a point where they are undetectable on a hpt. I never knew that, and I was surprised that all the other doctors I saw never took that into consideration. As I said before, if it wasn't for the ultrasound I would have never found out. I was trying to get pregnant, but now that I am, I couldn't be any happier. I have always pictured myself having kids one day. I'm loving every minute of being pregnant. I started feeling the baby kick a few weeks ago and it is so amazing. Right now I am 22 weeks. I'm due Oct. 1st. Just hang in there and hopefully you can get to the bottom of your situation and get some answers.

MANDY- I haven't gotten my results yet, but I have gotten what I *believe* is my period. Last night it was just a little, very clear red blood, and then it went back to white, normal discharge, but today I have gotten what seems to ba a normal period except a little more brown than normal. The only problem with this is that I have been pregnant once before and when I was about 9 and a half weeks pregnant (but I had no idea) I had a period. I didnt find out I was pregnant until a month later. I terminated that pregnancy for a number of reasons, but this time I will happily keep the baby. I am in a better place now, both physically and mentally. I will see what the tests say on Thursday, but I also want to see how this "period" comes along. I want to see if it acts like a normal period or if it's short and light. Also, my breasts are not swollen nor do they hurt anymore (which is not normal for me during my period. they usually get really big). I am now wondering if I'm pregnant since they DON'T hurt and they aren't swollen. I also have headaches and pimples. I just found out today that pimples are a sign too. I never ever get pimples but now I have a number of them. I had frequent urination for a little over a week around the same time when my breasts were still swollen and sore. My face is clearing up too. It's almost like I had all of the symptoms and then they all went away.
Although I dont want to be pregnant, somehow I do. I cant quite explain it. I would like to wait another two years before I have kids or at LEAST get married first. I will keep you updated on the results and I will make sure to see what the actual number is (on my HCG level). I have heard that a 4 is considered "bordeline pregnant" and you should retest, but do you or anyone else know what is a normal number if you are NOT pregnant? I guess I will ask the doc when I call. Anyway, you guys are great and so is this forum. It has been VERY VERY helpful and I have learned a lot of new things. You know Mandy, you are a perfect example of the fact that nobody knows your body better than you do.

Mandy - June 1st, 2005 3:25 AM

Dominique- I wouldn't worry too much about getting your period. I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was almost 16 weeks along, and the week before I found out, I got my period and I thought for sure I wasn't pregnant, but obviously I was wrong. I got my period about 2 weeks ago, but it was nothing like my normal period. It was a lot lighter and shorter. It only lasted 2 days, and it definitely wasn't red in color, it was more of a pink color. For almost 4 months I didn't have a period at all, then I finally got it, and then I skipped a month and then had one about 2 weeks ago. It's weird. For some reason some women just happen to get their periods while they're pregnant. Most of the websites that I've looked at claim that you cannot get your period while you're pregnant, but it is possible. Usually they are shorter and lighter, but I've read stories about women who got their period and it was no different than their normal period. Every women is different I guess. You never know. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you get the answer you're looking for.

Well I had my Doctors appt. this morning and he was going to send me for an ultrasound....When he called the Gyno he was told that no u/s was nessacary. HPT is the best indicator. BS I thought, but what are you going do? The Doc did an internal and said my uterus was not really swollen. He told me to do another HPT and if the result was NEG not to worry...you're not pregnant but nothing is wrong. Did the HPT and surprize surprize it was NEG. I have decided that I have to accept the fact that I am not pregnant and get over it. Given that I am going to stop with this thread as it only fosters my misguided hope.I want to thank you all for listening and for your advice and prayers. Good luck to you all.

Cristin - June 1st, 2005 12:40 PM

I would go get a Beta HCG!!! That will determine for sure if you are pregnant.

Dominique - June 1st, 2005 2:15 PM

Mandy- I think this is a regular period because it is acting like one. I think it's too heavy for me to be pregnant. I'm afraid I cant compare to the last time I was pregnant since I didnt know that I was pregnant when I had the period. I just called for my test results but the doc was unavailable. I will post again as soon as she calls back. I didnt want to be pregnant but now that I think I'm not I want to.:-)

Dominique - June 2nd, 2005 12:44 AM

Mandy-I got my blood test back and was negative. I am a bit disappointed but yet releived. My boyfriend was a bit disappointed too. My mom was happy though. Anyway, I will get back to you if something should change or if I am in fact in your situation and I am pregnant anyway. I don't think so though because even my breasts have stopped hurting completely now. I was so convinced that I was pregnant that I even talked to my belly and referred to it as my little peanut. I guess I just got WAY ahead of myself. Agin, thanks for a great forum everybody and I hope you all get the results that you want, whatever they may be.

I know that I may not be as late as some of you but I am working onto three weeks late and I am never later for af. I've been charting because I am trying to get pregnant and every chart where it tells me that I am going to get af I do but this time I didn't. I had a blood test done two days after I figured I implanted negative. I have been getting positive opks with very dark lines (I read on peeonastick.com that some women have used these as pregnancy tests) but negative hpts. I have sore breasts on and off morning sickness almost very day in some form tons of clear cm I get headaches usually once a day my stomach is really bloated and I am consinpated. I really hope that I am pregnant and I am glad that I am not alone in this. I've been tccing for 19 months.

Gwen - June 2nd, 2005 11:57 AM

Well, my wait is over, I got my period today. It has been 8 weeks since my last one (so I skipped last month). Although I wasn't trying to have a baby (I was on birth control pill, which made this even more weird), I have to admit that I'm pretty disappointed. I'm in my mid 30s and would really like to have a child, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Good luck to the rest of you!

Shannon L - June 6th, 2005 7:53 PM

Mandy, I have not started my period in over two months. Did you just go to your doctor and ask for a v/u/s or did they request that you get one. Also did you ever have a blood test done to check your hcg? If you could help answer any questions i would truly appreciate it.

Mandy - June 7th, 2005 12:05 AM

Shannon L- I went to my family doctor when I was about 8 weeks late and since the blood work that she checked came back normal, she referred me to an OBGYN to have a trans-vaginal ultrasound done. I had two different blood tests done and neither or them were done to check for hCG. They were done to check my other hormones to make sure they were functioning right, which they all were. I have no idea why they never checked for hCG, I still question myself about that to this day. Since all my tests were negative, and I was never on birth control, and since everything else came back normal I was referred to have the vaginal ultrasound done. Most doctors don't like to do ultrasounds unless you have a positive pregnancy test, so I guess I was lucky to finally get one done.

Shannon L - June 7th, 2005 1:00 AM

Mandy, the reason why I was asking was my last period was march 22. I have taken 4 hpt all neg. I'm only 21 and have no Ins. I am going to Planned Parenthood on Thursday and I called & asked them if they would give me a blood test and they said they would. They said that they send it to a lab and it could take a week or so for the results. I've been waiting long enough already, a week more will not hurt. Thanks for the reply. Congratulations with the baby girl!!!!

rav - June 7th, 2005 9:01 AM

I am not pregnant! My period was on time (instead of arriving that morning it came 9pm...oh what torture) and i did the blood test which was negative but i will tell you ladies out there....PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS ARE VERY MUCH like the symptoms you get when your about to get your period...JUST GET A BLOOD TEST AND CALL IT A DAY..please dont be like me and waste your money on the HTP's.

Suzette - June 7th, 2005 1:07 PM

OH I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS GONNA HELP BUT MIGHT MAKE U FEEL LIKE UR NOT ALONE, I HAVE THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENING ALL TEST SAY NEGATIVE, I HAVE REALLY BAD BACKACHE, MY BOOBS HURT AND THEY NEVER, EVER HURT BEFORE, I HAVE CRAMPS, NAUEATED, NEVER THROW UP THOUGH, I FIND MYSELF SLEEPING ALL THE TIME NOW, SOME SMELLS MAKE ME WANT TO PUKE. I USE TO BE ON THE DEPO SHOT AND I'VE READ THAT IF ITS STILL IN YOUR SYSTEM IT MIGHT MAKE THE HORMONES LOW AND WOMEN WHO WERE ON THE SHOT NEVER ACTUALLY KNOW THEY ARE PREGNANT UNTIL A COUPLE OF MONTHS.

Steph - June 7th, 2005 3:46 PM
