I will be 3 weeks late tomorrow. I have scheduled a blood test on Wednesday at 11:30. I will be out of work all day, but I will respond on Thursday. I hope everything turns out okay. Can a thyroid problem make you skip? I have not been diagnosed with a thyroid problem, but I noticed that alot of women say that when they have a blood test done that they also have there thyroid tested. Talk to you soon.

Mandy - April 7th, 2005 12:38 PM

To Becca- Yes, a thyroid problem can cause you to be late or cause you to skip your period all together. That was one of the first things they checked when they did my blood work. As I said before, the reason I’m having the ultrasound done is because all of my tests came back normal, and there seems to be no other reason besides pregnancy for me to not be getting my periods. Just hang in there and try to be positive because you never know.

To Connie- I’ve been reading other peoples posts on here as well hoping that they would update us on their situation, but they never do. I can assure you that after I have the ultrasound done, I will update you on what I find out. Also, I think that it’s great that you have been so supportive of your daughter. If only more mothers were like you. I can only imagine how scary it would be to be pregnant at such a young age.

Hey everyone. I hope to hear how everything goes for all of ya'll. I haven't had a normal period since november. I thought that there was no possiblity of me being pregnant. I have had 34 negative urinalysis's at a doctors office, and at a different doctors office I had a faint posititve. I am not sure if I want to be pregnant but my 22 year old husband wants me to be pregnant( I am only 18). I was told that if I don't get a period by the 18th of this month then I should go in and have another one done. I have almost all of the pregnancy signs... I read through what to expect when you're expecting and well looked back at the past 5 months and I noticed all the symptoms. I have had 2 doctors so sure that I was pregnant and given me a ua(urinalysis) that came up negative and they all changed there mind. So I am hoping that on the 18th I will find out if I am pregnant. My period was one day of spotting in February, on the 18th...the day it is suppossed to be. Ummmmm I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. I mean I didn't even think pregnancy was an option, but I knew something wasn't right about my body....didn't even know what until 2 of my friends, 2 doctors, and my husband all said that I am pregnant....but I will never know unless in 20 weeks I pop a baby outta me or the doctors look beyond uas and do some real doctor work. I will let you know and would love to know about all of you especially since I can't share this with my mom cause she is just now getting used to the fact that I got married. TTFN~Best wishes and Best of luck to all of ya'll.

i had the Depo injection in october to March, i have felt pregnant for a month or so now. my Depo injection was due on the 1March, idid not have it done. I have do lots of pregnancy test 3 have been positive faint lines and a few negative ones in between. I have been to the hospital yesterday fof a scan. The lady doing the scan said there was nothing wrong with me and eveything was fine. Iwhen i ask the important question of 'am i pregnant'she said she i am not allowed to tell you anything and with a smile said everthing looks fin. She said i would have to wait two weeks to hear any news from my GP.Are these new rules? dont i have a right to know now ? i dont know what to make of her comments.

Hi Mandy.
I have found your story so interesting, as I am going through something similar. I can't wait to hear your rsults on the 13th. All I know is that not so long ago these tests weren't even done, and people had babies just fine. I don't think that the pregnancy tests are as important as they're made out to be. I heard that 10% of women don't have the hcp levels to show on the tests but have perfect babies. I think God is bigger than all this and doctors don't know everything. Let us know what happens.

Becca - April 8th, 2005 9:09 AM

Rebecca, usually if you go to the doctor to find out your pregnant no only person that can tell you is the doctor. The ultrasound lady doesnt have the right to. This happened when my nieces mother was pregnant for the second time, they saw something on the ultrasound and she wasnt aloud to say anything. I am assuming this is what happened in your case. Your doctor will tell you the results. PrincessJasmine, if I were you next time I went to the doctor the next time I would ask for an ultrasound and/or a blood test. Your Hcg may not show up in your urine.

If I was to have a Thyriod problem would I still have cramps? They come and go, and are not painfull, still annoying. I keep thinking that maybe something is wrong with me other than pregnancy. I would be 6/7 weeks today. Which is 2/3 weeks past my (.). Im so confused. This has never happened to me before.

Connie - April 8th, 2005 10:47 AM

Hey all, a new development, my daughter had to be picked up from work yesterday because she almost passed out, nausea, cramps, backache.....she did get her period earlier in the morning. The only weird thing is that she is more sick feeling now that she got her period than before. She is going to get a refill on her b/c pills today to start on Sunday. Anybody out there taken test all neg. get a period and still turn up preg. ?

Becca - April 8th, 2005 10:52 AM

Connie, I have read on some of the other forums where that has happened. Some women had what they thought was their (.) and come to find out they were pregnant. They also went to the doctor and had blood and urine tests performed and all came out neg., but they were pregnant. So it could happen. Maybe you should take her to another doctor. Was her (.) a normal (.)? Maybe there is something more seriously wrong with her. Keep in touch.

yes

Mandy - I've been checking in since early March and am thinking of you. I look forward to you finding some answers next week. I've got my fingers crossed!

Connie - from what I understand, lots of gals have periods during successful pregnancies. I've read that 50% of those who start bleeding will miscarry. That's what happened to me in December, at 8 weeks. It's possible that your daughter is miscarrying, considering the intensity of her cramps. For me, it was a taste of what labor pains are like when my body was working at expelling the gestational sac and then the placenta...fairly intense. It could be that she's not pregnant and her body has been thrown off and the system is sort of discombobulated. Or she might be pregnant and is fine, just one of those who bleed during pregnancy....scary, but for many women, it works out just fine. I'm just starting my first regular period after my 2nd m/c at 6wks. It will be good to let my body get back in the swing.... and looking toward future possibilities. I'm wishing the best for everyone here.

Connie - April 8th, 2005 1:35 PM

Thanks for your responses. My daughter is feeling a little better in the cramp department. Still feeling nausious. She said her period is quite a bit different than usual. Not exactly sure how much. She is going to get her pills refilled today, but has decided not to take them yet. Just to be on the safe side. We are trying to get in to see a doc about the dizzyness and stuff. Everyone is out today. Let you know how she progresses

connie - April 8th, 2005 1:37 PM

At this point finding out she was pregnant would be a relief. It is not fun wondering what in the heck is wrong with you. I've spent hours the past few days looking up medical symptoms to try to narrow things down. I think I am just getting more confused.

busywith4 - April 8th, 2005 1:53 PM

my friend used the hpt from the dollar tree and it was pos. Now she is about a week from delivery. When I was preg. with my last 11 years ago, I took one, it was pos. I now have an 11 yyear old daughter. I wonder what it is about certain women that no matter how many tests they take they still test negative. There has to be some kind of med. explaination. Doesn't there. I cannot believe how many neg.'s are out there that have turned out to be babies. Unbelievable!!!!!!!! I wish there was somewhere to find out. Anybody got a clue. I read the post that said about the hook effect. Couldn't find anything about it though.
Blessings to all.

Hey, I was looking up the Hook Effect and found this on an ICON 25hCG pregnancy test site. The information was interesting and may effect some of your test results.
Q: Is there any “hook” effect? If so, at what level of hCG? If not, what is the highest level of hCG tested?
A: The product provides the correct result up to 500,000 mIU hCG/mL.

Q: What part of the molecule is detected?
A: The product detects intact hCG.

Q: When is the best time of day to obtain a urine specimen for testing?
A: Urine specimens collected at any time of day may be used on ICON® 25 hCG tests. However, a first morning urine specimen is preferred if possible as it usually contains the highest concentration of hCG.

Q: If the test is used prior to the equilibration of the specimen and test to room temperature, is the result reliable?
A: No. The test and the specimen must equilibrate to room temperature (15 to 30° C) prior to testing.

Q: If too much or not enough of the specimen sample was added, is the result still reliable?
A: No, an incorrect amount of specimen sample can affect the test result. It should be repeated with a new test and the appropriate amount of sample.

These last 2 questions and answers really interested me. I don't know that we all have let our specimin and our test come to the same temp. before testing. Could be a factor, hmmm?

Becca - April 8th, 2005 3:16 PM

Connie, that was an interesting post you left. It really makes you think. All of the pregnancy calenders ask for the date of your first day of your last mentrual period. So they start calculating from that day. Could I have got pregnant right before my period started? And if so then how long would I have to wait to take a test? Thanks for your help
