Connie- My appointment is at 2:30, so I will update you sometime after that.

Mimi- I've been there and done that about 8 weeks ago, and it was a waste of time. I got the run-around routine. They did do a blood test, but they didn't check for hCG, they checked my other hormones, which were all normal. So yeah, I'm not 7 weeks late, as of right now, I am 15 weeks and 4 days late, and I still have no answers. I'm having an ultrasound done later today, so hopefully I will get some answers as to what is going on.

I had my doctors app. today, and they checked my thyroid, and did a blood test and they came back negative. She wants to see me in two weeks for a check up. Im not sure as to what blood test she did.

Hey everyone, I told you that I would inform you about what I found out today whether it was good news or bad news. I went in for the trans-vaginal ultrasound this afternoon and I was right all along. I had a feeling that I was pregnant. You have no idea how incredibly happy I am right now. All I can say is that nobody knows your body more than you do. If you feel that you might be pregnant and doctors and tests keep saying otherwise, you need to keep pushing your doctor for an ultrasound because if it wasn‘t for the ultrasound, then I would have never found out because all my tests kept saying negative. At one time I actually thought that I was experiencing a phantom pregnancy because I got my period last week and so I thought that my body was tricking me into believing that I was actually pregnant when in fact I wasn’t, but I am definitely pregnant. When I went in to have the ultrasound done, I informed the tech that I had got my period and that I thought that I wasn’t pregnant, but she went a head with the ultrasound, and there it was, clear as day. After the ultrasound I had an appointment to see my doctor and I told her that I had got my period the week before and that I though that something was wrong, but she assured me that everything was fine because the ultrasound showed a healthy and progressing pregnancy. She then went on to say that although it is uncommon, some women do have a period at some point in their pregnancy and some women have them throughout their entire pregnancy. I was under the impression that if you do have your period that it means that you’re not pregnant. My period was shorter than it normally is, but other than that, it was normal. She assured me that everything was fine and progressing the way it should be and that I have nothing to worry about. The ultrasound confirmed that I am 15 ½ weeks pregnant. The only thing that makes me mad about this whole situation is that it took over 15 weeks to find out what was going on. I was so ready to give up and just agree with the previous test results, but something told me to keep pushing for answers and I’m glad I did. I didn’t think it was possible to find out the sex this early, but it appears that I am having a girl. I guess trans-vaginal ultrasounds are visibly clearer than regular ultrasounds? I’ve always wanted a little girl though, and I’m looking forward to motherhood and the idea of having a daughter. I’m due on October 1st. I knew that something was going on since all my blood work came back normal. To me, something just didn’t add up because I have never been late before. Like I said, I had a feeling that I was pregnant, and I was definitely right. I would just like you thank all of you for your comments and your concern, because I really appreciate it. And for everyone else, all I can say is hang in there and try to be positive because you never know. If you think something is going on, then you should definitely keep pushing your doctor for answers until you get a clear answer as to what is going on.

Oh My God Mandy. I had been following this stream for a while now, from the shadows I guess because I'm only thinking of the idea and I haven't really tried to get pregnant. Anyway, your story was absolutely amazing...there are not many people like you (strong willed) People are always gullable to doctors and I'm glad you never gave up. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope to hear your weeks to come.

Congratulations Mandy! Trust your instincts, that is the best medicine.

Heather - April 13th, 2005 8:40 PM

I am so happy for you! Can I imagine what a relief it for you to finally have an answer. Good thoughts to you and your baby girl!!

Becca - April 14th, 2005 9:42 AM

Mandy, that is GREAT!! I am so happy for you. I went to the doctor yesterday and they did every test in the book on me. Everything came out fine. I have a blood test done and it to was negative. I have to go back in two weeks. I am hoping that they do a pelvic exam and check for cysts. That is like the only thing other than being pregnant that it could be. Has anyone ever heard of the hook effect happening with blood tests too? I dont think that could be possible, they measured the amount of HCG yesterday for me, and she said everything came our negative. She said she wanted to see me in two weeks. Its weird though, I still feel like I am going to start my (.). Every now and then. Its not all day. It come and goes. I have lower cramps, that dont get several they are like a dull ache. Its weird. I am scheduled to see My doctor again on the 27th. Keep in touch. Any one ever had neg. blood and urine tests and you turned out to pregnant?

Yvonne - April 14th, 2005 11:39 AM

Mandy, CONGRATULATIONS!!! & BEST OF LUCK!!! I've been keeping up with your story. I just want to say Thank You for sharing your story. You've givin me HOPE. I am 22 and have started trying a few months ago. I am now 3 1/2 weeks late. I've taken at least 10 hpt. All neg. I havn't gone to the docs yet because i figure they'll just give me the run around as well. I'm trying to patiently wait for a few more weeks. I was wondering if when you went to the doctors were they able to Explain WHY all the test were always neg for you???

Becca - April 14th, 2005 1:09 PM

Yvonne, sometimes women dont produce the hormone in their urine. Thats the only reason. THe thing that gets me is when the blood tests come back neg., and come to find out they are pregnant.

connie - April 14th, 2005 4:13 PM

Congratulations Mandy!!!!!!! My husband had deleted this site out of my favorites this morning. I was frantic to find out what your results were. I couldn't remember what site it was. Thank the Lord I found it by typing in neg. home preg. tests. I reconized one of the threads and there it was! I am so happy for you. May God bless you and your miracle!!!!!!!!
Love,
Connie

Mandy - April 14th, 2005 5:30 PM

Becca- All of my urine tests and blood tests came out negative, and I am definitely pregnant. I don't know why it happens, but it is definitely possible to get negatives on both and still turn out to be pregnant.

Kath - April 14th, 2005 6:17 PM

Mandi,
Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you. Good for you for not believing the tests against the odds. I can only imagine how hard that was for you.

Alexa - April 14th, 2005 7:55 PM

WOW!!!! What an incredible story. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. I've been following this threat for weeks. More addictive than a soap opera. I'm kind of sad it's come to an end, but congratulations!!! I'm so glad you got the answer you wanted.

Alexa - April 14th, 2005 7:56 PM

Oops I meant thread, not threat. lol.

Connie - April 15th, 2005 11:24 AM

I am not going to be on here for a while. No real need except to follow up on everyone. As far as my daughter goes, she had gotten her period finally, was really sick a few days and now feels much better but a sore throat now. I told her Mandy's story and she said she didn't think she herself could be preg. anymore cuz she got her period. Her period was much different this time. If anything developes I will let you all know. Thanks for letting me pop in and out and put in my 2 cents.
Blessings to you all.
Connie
