Hi,
This might sound like a really dumb question, but I have to ask. Can being overweight delay getting a positive hpt? I am a large woman (size 24-26) of 23 and am having all kinds of pregnancy symptoms. I have skipped a period and am tired all the time, my breasts and nipples have expanded and I have visible blue veins, etc but keep getting negetive hpts. Can being overweight cause you to not get a positive hpt for longer than most people?

Not a dumb question at all...I was asking myself that today. Glad that I am not alone. I am a size 18 and experiencing many pregnancy symptoms. I am irregular, so its hard to say exactly when I am late...but, my breasts hurt, the veins are more prominent, and are fuller, I am extremely tired, nausea, etc. I have a 3 yr old, so I have been through it once. Only problem is...numerous negative hpts and 2 negative urine tests at the dr's. I have an appt. with an OBYGN tomorrow morning and I am going to request a blood test. Please keep informed as will I. Good Luck!!!

I don't think so - May 8th, 2005 11:38 PM

I know many women of all different sizes that couldn't get a postive pregnant test. If your pregnancy hormones is too low or if you are having periods( pregancy bleeding) you are more likely to get a negative.
