hey everyone well heres my story im 18yrs old and at the end of nov.o6 i found out i was pregnant by the doc. a few months b4 i was noticing that there was something wrong w.me, i was always tired, had a pain where my kidney is, going to the bathroom way more then im use to and a lil weight gain, so i kept taking home tests and they all came back neg so i decided to go to the doc, she took a blood test and said it came back positive but my count was low so it was an early preg. i didnt see how that was possible seeing how the guy i was seeing and i hadnt had sex since sept. so the night i found out i told him, we ended up well having sex, the next night i started to bleed very lil though so i thought ok i had weird periods the past couple months that only lasted a couple days and were very light so this will be another one, the next couple days after it got worse i called my doc and she told me to come in and take another blood test to see if i lost the baby, so i did, she said i miscarried i was extremely upset, cause i was looking forward to it, but since then my stomach as grown so much its crazy, i mean i know after a miscarriage u still gain weight but not that much, i mean some say i look like im 5 to 6 months preg. i keep going to the docs and every test comes back neg. i got an ultrasound done but they wouldnt let me see it and they said they cant see anything at all and it came out blurry, i still get nautious and get sick, im always tired, still have the pains, stomach keeps growing, smells and some tastes dont agree w.me anymore, im always cravin things that i hate, im getting to the point that idk wat to do, they tested my sugar and for thyroid but everything is ok, sometimes i think that im still pregnant, or that when they said i was originally pregnant i wasnt and that maybe that night i did get pregnant, if thats the case then id be 3 months now and not 5 im getting really scared my stomach is hard like i would be and not just fat i mean if i was just gainin weight it would be all over not just my stomach, does anyone have an opinon on wats going on, is it possible that im still pregnant, thanks for listening im just really sick of docs and ppl thinking im crazy when u can see that im not

Hi confusedgurl,
It is not too early for a blood test i found out i was preg when i was 4 weeks along, But didn't have poss HPT till 5-6wks along, It is also possible to get HPT that can dectect lower amounts of HCG, I know firstresponce can detect HCG over 15. So you may have to wait a few days for a + result,

Good Luck

I think I might be pregnant, I am 19 days over due on my period, and it is always on time any other month. Me and my boyfriend have been trying for a baby since November 2006, and we both think that we have achieved it this time. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests at the doctors but both have came back negative. I have gone over the signs of pregnancy and have experianced nearly all of them. I feel in myself that I am pregnant, but with the negative tests, I dont know what to do now. Could it be possible that I am pregnant but just not enough of HCG to tell that I am.

LauraLynn - June 19th, 2007 3:27 PM

I also know what this is like. I'm now about 16 days late. Took a test at five days late--negative. Because I have had other complications and a history of irregular periods they've agreed to do an ultrasound. I'm a little worried. I thought I might have been pregnant last fall, but I don't think I was. I didn't have a period then for 11 weeks, and I should have known something then. After initially being tested at the doctor's office at a week late (urine), I never went back to the doctor, even after I didn't get my period for almost two more months. Had no pregnancy symptoms then except for being very tired and lots of frequent urination (but those things can also be from a hormone imbalance). I also had a little bit of breast pain and darker nipples. I got really sick (after 11 weeks late) and then started bleeding for a couple of weeks straight. I had lots of clotting then but never passed anything that looked like a fetus. For the next three months I had almost constant bleeding. In April and May I had two normal cycles (with lots of pain though). Now the same thing is happening all over again--absence of cycle that is...I hate this. I just want to have a baby like everyone else. I don't feel pregnant right now. Most people on this forum swear up and down that they are because they have all the symptoms. I guess I'm a little more sleepy than usual, but not that much. I have noticed some breast changes again, and I have slight lower abdominal pain and discharge off and on. If I were pregnant I'd be about six weeks along. Believe me, I want this just as much as everyone else here, but I am also trying to look at the facts. I don't want to get my hopes up because I've been so disappointed the times before. My husband and I have been believing God for a child of our own for a little while. I'm trying not to freak out. I feel fine. I don't feel like anything is wrong. I just don't want to be let down again. My appointment is June 25 for my sonogram. I guess I'll find out the answers I need then. Best wishes to everyone else here.

Hi, my name is Jess and i'm 17... in April I had unprotected sex with (my now ex) boyfriend.. two days after althought I didnt have any symptoms yet i just 'felt' I was pregnant... I waited to get my periods and I got them on time but they were really light and weird, and I still 'felt' like i was pregnant, I did 2 home pregnancy tests both in the morning about a week apart and they were both negative and so i thought 'oh ok, I must be imagining things' but then a month came by and i didn't get my periods; I got mine when I was 9 and have been totaly regular since i was 12... I kept thinking 'they will come soon....' but now i'm about 2 weeks late, and for the last couple weeks I've been feeling really sick, constipation, headaches, fatigue, nausia, mood swings, the whole works... and in the last 2 days I have lost 6kg from throwing up... I went to the doctor yesterday and did another urine test at the doctor and it was negative, she told me to come back in 2 weeks if i still didn't have my periods, but I still 'feel' pregnant.. I don't 'think' im pregnant, but I feel it.. today I took a day of school because I feel so sick, but just because I got a negative test the doctor shouldnt dismiss that SOMETHING isn't right... I really don't like doctors lol, but i looked on the internet and I would be week 9 or 10 by now if i was and apparently thats when it starts moving around and it can cause cramps, and this week I started getting cramps! I just don't know what I should do...

lisa mc - June 20th, 2007 4:21 PM

hi have any of ladies that think your pregnant come off birth control pill. i came of it in january and had normal periods for 2 months and then it all went weird. i went 3 months without a period and swore i was pregnant had all the signs done endless amounts of pregancy tests at home and at doctors and all came back negative. so me and partner went away to greece to have a break and af showed up the day i got there!!! the only explaination for the pregnancy symptoms was my body trying to become "normal" after years on the pill.

reneenay - June 22nd, 2007 2:32 PM

To LauraLynn, you can absolutely be pregnant and get negative results on tests...sounds like you're the one who needs to do more research. And why are you so angry and feeling the need to go after all the women who get negative tests so aggressively? YOU are the one that needs a reality check. There are many women out there who don't get a positive reading on pregnancy tests, EVEN quantitiative blood tests, until they are 3, 4, 5, even 6 months pregnant! Some NEVER get a positive test and give birth to healthy babies. BLOOD TESTS do lie! It all depends on the woman. Some women have lower hcg levels than others. Some test too early. Some only find out by doing an ultra-sound. Just because it is not the norm, doesn't mean it does not happen. Why don't you poke around a little more and do some research yourself before you go spouting off about what you think? All you managed to do was sound ignorant.

Apologises if this has already been covered but 2 years worth of entries is a hell of a lot to read through! I have read a large number of posts and feel I have alot in common with many of you. My husband and I have been trying for a baby for over 4 years now. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago and have been receiving fertilty treatment since (first of all Metformin and then Clomid). After 5 cycles of Clomid I finally found out I was pregnant in Jan of this year, only to lose the baby a few weeks later (I would have been around 6 weeks). After the initial HCG results being low but normal, I had a sudden dip and then they started to climb but not double. This led to some confusion at the hospital who were checking my HCG every 48hrs. Finally I was admitted as they suspected an ectopic pregnancy and then it was decided it was probably a missed miscarriage and I under went an ERPC.
My periods are normally very irregular and can be anything up to 9 months apart and 23 days long! Approximately 6 weeks after the ERPC I had a "normal" period, i.e. natural and 6 days long. After that nothing.
I then saw my consultant in May who said I could re start Clomid but only after an ultrasound. Few days later started feeling sick but put it down the side effects of Metformin. This continued for another 2 weeks, kept putting it down to the Metformin and as other symptoms started, nausea, vomiting, frequent urination, abdominal tightness etc. I kept telling myself it could all be attributed to other things. Because my periods are so infrequent I regularly use hpts and despite my symptoms they kept coming up negative so I kept telling myself something else must be causing it. After 4 weeks of this and symptoms not subsiding I decided to stop taking the metformin to see if the nausea would stop but it didn't. Whilst I was determined not to convince myself I was pregnant I couldn't explain my symptoms and the only time I had ever felt some of them was when I was pregnant in Jan. As my ultrasound was already booked I thought I'd put off seeing my doctor till after. U/s was "inconclusive", i.e. no definate sign of pregnancy but my uterus lining was thicker and there were no large cysts that would explain the symptoms although there were small ones consistent with having PCOS. Was sent for a blood test which came out negative. This was about 41/2 weeks since the last time dh and I had sex due to me feeling so sick and him working away so I had to be at least 4 weeks pregnant or not at all. Midwife at fertility clinic said blood tests are pretty accurate and to start Clomid. Still wasn't sure so went to see my family doctor, explained everything to her and her response was I could be having a false negative. She said she'd seen them before, with some women taking a good few months before they tested positive. I was very wary of trying to convince her that I was pregnant and let her come to her own conclusions. Because I had already had the u/s the week before, she said it ruled out the possiblity of it being a cyst and because the symptoms had gone on so long (5 weeks by then) it was very unlikely that it was a problem with my bowel as I wasn't ill enough). She's told me to wait 2 weeks and then test again and she's said to use a CLear Blue test as they're the only ones she trusts. she also confirmed my gut feeling which was NOT to start the clomid until I knew one way or the other.
So here I am, possibly 6 weeks pregnant ,possibly not. Obviously I desperately want it to turn out positive but equally I don't want to get my hopes up after what happened in Jan (all of you who have mc or are having fertility treatment will understand).
Whilst there seems to be a lot of evidence here that delayed or undetected positives are quite possible, does anyone know if PCOS or obesity can have any bearing on the matter (I'm probably about about a 100lbs over, mostly due to the hormone issues associated with PCOS)?
I desperately want to know one way or another so I can get on with the next stage of my life. The next two weeks are going to be unbearable and I'm not sure how I will cope if the symptoms don't subside and the test comes back negative again. I was relieved my doctor believed me but if I get another negative at 7-8 weeks, I worry how long she will be supportive after that?

Ladies, I am in the same boat as all of you! My husband and I TTC in May. We are both healthy 28-year-olds. I tracked my ovulation and we had intercourse every day for that whole week. My last period was May 3, and I haven't had one since. No spotting or anything. I am feeling more tired, moody, gassy, head achy, and hungrier than normal. I am getting up to pee 2 or 3 times a night. I have taken 5 HPT's and one qualitative blood test and all turned out negative. However, I am puzzled because I am very regular and have never missed a period in my life. After doing some research, I found out that a qualitative blood test is just about as accurate as a HPT, so it was basically pointless. Ladies, take my advice and If you are having puzzling results and think you are pregnant, request a quantitative test. Or better yet, request an ultra-sound if you are far enough along for an embryo to be detected. I am personally waiting until I miss another period and then I will start the HPT's again, until my appointment later next month. From the research I have done, we could all fall under one of these 4 categories: 1) We are pregnant, and have lower hcg levels than normal. 2) We are pregnant, but may have an embryo that is not viable, which will lead to an early miscarriage. 3) We have another medical condition that is throwing our cycles off (maybe cysts or an ectopic pregnancy). 4) We are just plain late. I am really starting to think that I could be pregnant. My period stopped right after TTC...coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. I can relate to all of you, especially with all of the confusion and frustration in all of this. I never imagined that this sort of thing happened until I stumbled upon the situation myself, and all of you. I wish you all the best, whether you wish to be pregnant or not. It's just nice to know that we are all in this together!

to kat101,
Hi Hun, I know how you feel i have POCOS!!, you sound very similar with the irrg periods. I could go up to 4 months with out one, but they only last up to 7 days. I had a m/c in march last year i was about 5 weeks along, I was taking metformine. I finally went to a fertility spec last October and he put me striaght onto Clomd, I fell Pregnant in Dec, I am now 31 weeks and so happy. I started of a bit overweight, (but we all know how hard it is to loose any), so if you do have extra weight i dont think it matters as long as you are healthy, I have had a healthy pregnancy, But keep your chin up hun, and you will get your lilttle miricle!!!!!!!
What i found helpfull was to keep my self busy, I went back to my horse riding and i had something else to worry about, even if its not sports related, even sewing or something will help put you mind at ease.
