hi,
i've had all the signs of early pregnancy and decided to do a couple of home pregnancy tests that came back positive. It didnt surprise me since my period was a week late and that isn't always usual for me. I've made an appointment to see the local GP but am abit worried since we've only just moved to the area and have never been to this doctor before. And since i've never been pregnant before i have no idea what to do or ask??? any advice is appreciated

thanks

Probably just tell them that you just found out you are preggers and tell themyou don't know what to do next.

Congratulations! The first visit is mostly blood work, pap, urine test, blood pressure, and depending on how far they think you are, they might listen for the heartbeat and some will even do a vaginal ultrasound to help date the pregnancy. Things to ask would be about symptoms you are having and concerned about or need relief from. They will want to know a family history and will ask you some questions, make sure you know when your last period was. Its pretty straight foward.

Oh, I guess I should have said that because this is a new Dr. make sure you find out if he is going to be the peditrician for your baby too or does he just deliver. If he won't be you will have to find a Dr. for when your baby is born.
