Hello. I was wondering if my girlfriend is pregnant? She is currently about 8 days late on her period. She finished her last cycle on the 22nd of last month. The day before that we had unprotected sex however I pulled out before anything got in. However I have heard of "pre-cum" possibly getting women pregnant. Anyway she says she's feeling "cramps" but maybe she's just fooling herself. She's been through a lot of stress in the past month with finals and going on a trip by herself to Korea. Not to mention stressing over whether or not she is pregnant. Also she just let me know that she recently got an eye infection and took some medications for that....but this was already after she was about 2 days late. She also experiences white discharge frequently....does this mean she'll start her period? Should she take home preg. test? Is it possible she could be pregnant? Thanks, and any help is very much appreciated.

OK, yes it is possible for her to be pregnant, it is also possible that the stress of worrying is causing her not to have her period. She should take a home pregnancy test, if it's negative, she should wait 1 week then take another if that one is negative she needs to make a doctors appointment so that she can get a blood test and possibly an ultrasound. Even if the tests are negative there is a chance she might be pregnant. Although, something to be considered, generally it's unlikely to get pregnant on your period or directly before or directly after. Stress can be a huge factor when your period is late, and this could be the problem causing her late period. Good luck!

My girlfriend is currently 6 weeks and 5 days late. We had sex approx. 5 times since her last period, all with a condom. She thought one broke, although I'm 95% sure it didn't, so she took two birth control pills 36-48 hours after that time we had sex. She normally does not take bcp's but has them. She has no symptons of being pregnant other than the fact her stomach has been feeling like she is going to get her period, but then she doesn't. That has happened on and off for the last week.
Also, she had been exercising almost everyday (running a mile or two), has been under a lot of stress and completely changed her diet (used to eat a lot of fast food, not eats very healthy food).
She took a pregnancy test last Saturday (four days ago) which was negative and refuses to take another one, but swears she feels fine. She said she will not take another test until the time her period is due next month, which seems absurd.
What does everyone think are the odds she is pregnant? Remember, no sympton, took two bcp's out of nowhere, safe sex each and every time (condoms)changed diet, test negative, stress, exercising. Thank you all so much.

I just wanted to say to you all that I am in the same boat right now, Im a few days late neg hpt. But also I didnt have a period for about nine months last year and I went to the doctor because I also had swollen breasts with milk. They did tests and found out I had a pituitary tumor in my head and it was causing the nilk and the missed period and also weight gain etc. So maybe some of you should go to the doctor and bring this up. Its very common and very treatable. I am on meds for it now and have a regular period. If you dont have a period because of a pituitary tumor its because it makes you infertile, so if you guys want to have baby's get this checked out so you can get on the meds and be fertile again. Just a thought

Anyone? Please help. See above thank you.

Not all women get pregnancy symptoms and some only get a few. You should encourage your girlfriend to try another HPT and if negative, have her doctor run a blood test to rule out pregnancy. If she is pregnant right now, she needs to start getting prenatal care. But, also, it could be that the lifestyle changes you mentioned are causing her to be really late. Your best bet to finding out what's going on would be for her to talk to her GYN. Hope this helps and good luck!

Morgan to Concerned Boyfriend2 - June 29th, 2005 3:46 PM

It is normal for a woman not to have her period after just one lifestyle change, add to that multiple lifestyle changes and there is a very high chance that the lifestyle changes are causing the missed period. She should test again, if it's negative, it will be ok for her to wait until the time when she expects her next period, but that is not the best idea. She should make an appointment with her doctor to get a blood test done, and possibly an ultrasound to rule out pregnancy. Good luck

There are only a few ways to chart your ovulation day, by temperature, chart your temperature everyday at the same time everyday, and when the temp. starts to rise, that is approximately when you are ovulating. The other way is the ovulation test strips, which work the same way as a HPT. If you went to the doctors and did a pregnancy test that came out negative more then likely you are not pregnant, the tests used by most doctors are highly sensative. If you take a HPT that comes out negative, wait 1 week and take another. If that one is negative too go to the doctor for a blood test, if that is negative, request an ultrasound. There is a chance of ectopic pregnancy (where the fertilized egg hasn't reach the uterus and is still in your falopian tube). That's pretty much all you can do but wait. Give your self at least 1 week in between taking HPT, and don't stress about it, the more you worry the less likely you are to start.

My husband and I decided that we are ready to try to have a baby. I stopped taking birth control after my last period and my period was due on the 27th or 28th. I still haven't started and I have been nauseaus several times a day for the last week or so. Is this just a symptom of stopping birth control? I've taken one HPT on what was supposed to be the first day of my period and it was neg. Just curious. I have also started taking prenatal vitamins since they say you should start 3 months before you want to get pregnant. I guess these could also be a reason for the nausea but I have been taking them for a month. Just curious as to whether or not anyone else has had this happen when they first stopped taking birth control. Thanks and God Bless!

Morgan to Kat - June 30th, 2005 5:48 PM

I had the same problem. I stopped birth control in May, and my period was 3 weeks late, then in June it was 2 days early with 4 days of spotting over the last 2 weeks. I was on 5 different types of birth control over the last 2 years though. According to my doctor, it can take up to 6 months for your cycle to go back to normal after stopping birth control, but you normally start ovulating again right away. Most women who stop birth control can get pregnant in the first month, but usually it takes a little longer. You could be pregnant, or it could just be your body trying to get back to normal after stopping birth control. Wait a week and take another HPT, if that's negative and you still haven't had your period go to the doctor and have a blood test and possibly a ultrasound. Good luck!!!

Meagen - June 30th, 2005 9:00 PM

I am so happy to have wondered across this site! I recently stopped birth control, about 2-3 months ago. My period in May was really late, then in June I barely had a period, and I've been spotting for a while. I feel like I'm about to start my period, but I've already had one this month, but it was really light. Is there a chance I could be pregnant? We've been using protection, but even condoms are 100%. Thank you for any help.
