yeah it could be a hormonal imbalance because I thought I was pregnant last year and all 4 of the tests I took came back negative. I went to the hospital and they tested to see if I was pregnant and come to find out I wasn't. The doctor told me that the reason why my period could have stopped was because of a cist on my ovaries or my hormones were unbalanced. He then sent me to a woman's doctor and come to find out my hormones were unbalanced. The doctor then put me on birth control to regulate my periods. She put me on birth control for 6 months and then I was off them. My periods however have not been regular since last year. So if I ever do end up pregnant, I won't know for a long time.

My period was due 5 days ago, I am feeling bloated all of the time, and my stomach feels really sore, ,I have a took a preganancy test it was negative Could I be pregnant..

Yes guest, there could be a possiblity that you are pregnant because according to professionals, you should take a pregnancy test 7 to 10 days after your missed period because this is the most accuate time(s) to take a home pregnancy test. They also say that is you do not wish to wait, go to the hospital, or at another heath care place and get a blood test because blood test can detect the pregnancy hormone faster.

Wanted to throw my story out there as well and hope someone can help me out...

The first day of my last period was July 23 and there's a chance I could have gotten pregnant on August 5. Ever since August 6, I have had major lower abdominal cramps, frequent urination, fatigue/tiredness, headaches, mood swings, some breast tenderness, heartburn, backaches, slight weight gain/feeling bloated, change in appetite (I'm currently sitting here at 1:30 in the morning drinking strawberry lime soda and eating Fritos dipped in cold jalapeno cheese dip. Explain that one!)... I've taken several hpts and all have come out negative: however, I had a pregnancy once previously and had several negative hpts. It wasn't until day 38 LMP that I got a positive and shortly thereafter, the Dr. confirmed it. This, you'll note, is day 34 LMP and I'm getting antsy.

I'm in college and I have insurance through my dad's workplace, but I don't want to go to the Dr. at this point unless I really have to because they'd flip. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

Finding this site has been very reassuring to me. Thanks also for everyone being willing to share their stories!

according to most doctors, if you think you are pregnant, you should wait 7 to 10 days after your missed period to take a pregnancy test.

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 3 months. Ever since I gave birth to my stillborn son at 9 months gestation... I have been using a ovulation predictor kit and it showed I was going to ovulate when I should've, and Dr. took blood and it showed I was going to ovulate normally. So this month I really had a good feeling that we got it right. I ovulated on the 6th of August... on the 18th I got a negative urine test at the Dr. my period was due until the 20th though. so when my period didn't come (never been anything but normal and on time) I took two clear blue easy's on the 21st. BOTH came up positive. Went to the Dr. yesterday and had a urine test to confirm the pregnancy, it came up negative. I am totally confused, so on the way home from the Dr., stopped and bought a fact plus pregnancy test. IT CAME UP POSITIVE!!! How can this be? I have lots of pregnancy syptoms: my breasts feel fuller, constant need to pee, headaches, white discharge, increased appetite and naseousness in the morning. The Dr. took blood yesterday so we can know for sure but I am still waiting for the test results to come back. What could possibly cause 3 HPT's to come back positive if I am not preggo? The Dr. office says that their tests are very sensitive. I am 5 days passed my period, it shouldv'e come up positive if I was pregnant. Has anyone ever had this happen to them or heard of this? I have never had such confusion with pregnancy tests before.

If you had a postive result, you are pregnant. It is very common to get a false negative, but it is VERY uncommon to get a false positive. It could just be the timing, also drinking a lot of fluids before taking a urine test can dilute the hormones and cause a false negative. I would go back to the doctor and explain the positive pregnancy tests, make an appointment for first thing in the morning, when the hormones are in a higher concentration in your urine, and don't drink a lot of fluids before taking the urine test. Also, request a blood test. I don't think an ultrasound would show anything at this point, but I'm not sure about it. Good luck and congratulations!! I really hope all goes well for you, I had a miscarriage a few weeks ago, and I was devestated, I just can't imagine how you felt.

Renee - August 25th, 2005 5:57 PM

This one will really throw you guys for a loop. Got the results back from my blood test from yesterday and it was 9. 9 is not a 100% indication of pregnancy, it should've been higher than that, so they told me to come back in today and get more blood to see whether or not it's coming up or down. Now it's at 4. After all this my period finally starts today, which I originally thought was a miscarriage. My Dr. is a really great Dr. who takes his time to explain everything that is going on with your body, whether it's past "working hours" or not. He says that what happened is that initially the sperm fertilized my egg, but that they just never implanted in my uterus, for that small time I was technically pregnant the way that my body saw it which would be the reason for the syptoms I was having. Weird huh? It' s better this way than if I had a miscarriage, at least I know me and hubby got our act together fertility wise. anyways, just wanted to share this info with you because my Dr. says that this actually happens a lot it's just that to someone who isn't "trying" to conceive and paying as close attention to their cycles as I am, it might go unnoticed. Wish me luck for next month!!

Amira - August 25th, 2005 6:57 PM

Just an update...got my quantative results back and it is at less than 0.5 which is pretty much negative. I know there's rare women who dont show up on blood tests, but i would be 13 weeks by now and i think something would show up if i were... at least I hope it would. Will let you know if anything changes but for now I'm going to not think about every twinge and ache and try to get on with things as a non pregnant woman....Something is wrong with me but not sure what... women in my family usually get a positive test between 4 and 6 weeks. Will let u know if anything changes.

hi ive been on the injection and had a rough time with bleeding and stuff for around 6 mths but since april i have had regular and on time periods exactly 28 days to the day i shouldve been on on wednesday still no signs but i have no worries im only 18 and i feel there could be many other reasons why i have not started yet im not goin to take hpt just yet i think i may give myself a week or so! And for any1 whos been trying for a baby i spoke to my dr not long ago cuz i was trying and he told me on average it can take couples upto 2 years to conceive. if this is any help to any1 let me no.

Morgan - August 25th, 2005 7:42 PM

Actually, when trying to get pregnant, if you have sex on the day you ovulate or within 2 days either way of the day you ovulate, you have a 1 in 4 chance, 25%, of getting pregnant. If you and your partner and both healthy, and you chart your ovuation correctly, you should get pregnant within 6 months (if you are both under 35, over 35 it should be 1 year). If after that time you are still having problems, you need to see a fertility doctor. If you are young and healthy, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get pregnant. According to the research I've done, you should chart your ovulation for 2-4 months before seriously trying, so you know for sure when you will ovulate. Then for a week before you ovulate, don't have sex (so the sperm count is higher), then have sex every other day starting 2 days before you ovulate for about a week. That's what all of ther fertility experts that I've talked to say. With my son, it just took once, LOL. Good luck to all of you ladies who are trying, I wish you the best.
