Same boat....My last period started on January 31st and it is now March 19th. I am 21 years old and never had a late period before. I have been feeling sick, lower back pain, bloated, and having (clear) discharge. I was also achy in my lower abdomen for a couple days.
I went to the Dr. on wednesday...my urine test came back negative and I was checked for diabetis and tyroid problems but everything came back ok. they had me come back friday to give more blood to do a pregnancy blood test, but ended up telling me they had enough blood from wednesday when they did the tyroid test....
so now it is monday, and they say the test came back negative....
So, I ask the nurse, what am I supposed to do now, she said she would call me back, soooo she never calls, so I call her and she says she is faxing over a prescription to my pharmacy for birth control to take for three monthes to try and get my period regular...WHAT?!?!
First of all, I have never had a pap smear before....you would think hed wanna check that all out....Second, this is the first time my period has been irregular.
I think that is odd because I think he would want to check me out and because I have never had an irregular period before.

I was wondering if there was a possiblity i could still be pregnant?...if not, does anyone else think it is odd for my doctor to give me birth control with no checkup? :?

Hi ChelC. I was late with my period about a week, but I've had previous m/c although I've never missed a period in my life or been late. I talked to the dr. and they said its normal to have a late or missed period even if you've never had one and she said that they only do something about it if you've missed 2periods and have neg. hpt. They said they give you something to start your period again. I do think its weird the dr. didn't check you physically and I think you should ask for that before you take any pills just to put your mind at ease. I had the same symptoms, but my period eventually started so I just had to wait. Talk to your dr. about your concerns and they'll explain things to you, just ask. I wish you the best.....Hilda

im 9 days late & took a test 2 days ago that came back negative..i thought i was the only one...thank goodness i found this i have so many questions.

Ok, so here is my story on this. My last period was Jan 22nd. I've taken 8hpts all neg. Doc took blood test and it showed neg( not the hcg test) I am crampy, indigestion, my breasts are spilling out of my bra and I've noticed some leakage when provocted out of my breasts. I've never missed a period before let alone 2 and a half of them. I seem to be urinating more frequently and I am getting weird bumps on my areolas that are more prominant. I am 28 years old and a little overweight. I'm so confused. My mom had this problem when she was prego with me and she had an u/s and was almost 5 mnths. Could this be my problem too????

I am 20 years old i have 3 children 3yrs,almost 2 yrs and 5mths old and i wasnt plannin on having another but i think i am pregnant again,i am crampy and REALLY TIRED! but i am 5 days late and i always get my period every 28 days! this is so weird but all HMT i take a neg!!! it may be too early but anyone have advice it would be helpful thanks!!

I'm so gald to find this site!! I'm only 3 days late but the last 3 times I was late, I had babies!! I was due to start period on Sunday (3/25) I spent the last 3 days feeling like I was having it. Cramping, bloating the whole thing. Now I feel like myself again but still nothing. I've taken about 5 tests, all negative. I wish I had the patience to wait a week but I know myself, I'll be taking a test everyday until something changes!! This is driving me crazy!! At what point do you guys think a blood test should be done?? How many days late before it's worth a trip to the dr.?

Im glad i found this site. Im 17 and i havent had my period for almost three weeks late and i have allot of the syptoms of a pregnant woman but every HPT i take shows up negative. A little over a month a go I got off of the evra Patch and start taking some anti depressants "cymbalt" i ask my doctor about it and it is not one of the symptoms. Even if it were it would it last this long he said. So i dont know what the problem could be. If you have any sort of an answer please get back to my i would reay apriceate it!

Hi all, just so you know I am a month and a half late have never been except the two times I was preggos with my son and have also had negative hpt's, however my hcg levels have always been so low as to only be picked up after I am 8 weeks and through a blood test......I didnt know I was preggos with my son until I was 3 months and then with my 5mo old until I was 2 1/2 months. They actually thought I was less along than I was because my hcg levels were so low, however, I now have two healthy boys. I think they need to change the tests so they stop saying 99% accurate because they are only 99% accurate if you are a produced of high hcg levels...some women like myself don't produce the 30 or higher hcg level needed to be picked up by the test until we are 2 or more months:O.......As a side note a friend of mine never got a positive hpt test at all and she just had a baby girl... And a whole bunch of girls told me they were also more than 2 months preggos before they went into the Dr. and got a positive test , I feel the hpt test makers are only out to get money (they say if its neg. and you still don't get period buy another and test again (see money) ) but if you suspect you may be preggos I would err on the side of caution until you get a blood test confirmation that you are not or an ultrasound....I have had so many friends say they were out partying and acting like normal young women because the hpt test was a BFN and they were really preggos:O.......I am waiting to see if I miss this month and then im going into my Dr.s because I have NEVER missed a period like I said for any reason, regardless how stressed, diet or whatever...cept the two times I was preggos and I am a month & 1/2 now late:O

Well I hope this helps...all these girls have proven to me that just because you get a negative hpt or even negative pt at the Dr's does not mean you are not pregnant, I am taking my prenatal's (just had a baby 5mo ago so) and yes I had three perfectly normal periods after having him so no its not my body returning to normal. And its not BF either cuz my Dr said if that was the case I never would have had periods at all and after the 4th mo its no longer reliable as a method of bc,lol...and after having two kids u wld have though I knew that hahah, uhh no.............

this is my first ever post,so please bear with me. I am a 30 yr old mum of 3 and I am not sure if I am pregnant again. My last period started "around" Mar 27/07,not positive of date cause wasn't trying to get pregnant. Anyway, I have taken 2 home tests in past week and both were negative, any advice??help!!

Thank heavens for this site. I am 7 days late for my period and me and my husband have been trying for our second baby for 10 months, thinking we had cracked it i also have taken 2 pregnancy tests, both Negative.....BOO!!!
However, i feel like i did when i fell pregnant with my son and am only ever 2-3 days late maximum. At 32 i feel like i know my body and its cycle well enough to know something isnt right. Do you know anything about eptopic pregnancy not being detectable on hpt or phantom pregnancy (this is what my husband suggests i am having but i like to think only animals have these) Look forward to hearing from you and hopefully shedding some light on our missing periods!!!!

over 3 weeks late, multiple neg HPTs, all preg syptoms i had with my son, went the docs today, gotta wait a week for urine test results! I'm not trying for a baby but would be happy if i was pregnant, I'm not bothered either way i just really want to know, think i may be a little dissappointed if i wasnt, but wouldnt mind, at least id know!!!

I am so glad I found this site. I am very regular, typically between 28-30 days. I am currently 5 days late and am testing negative. I had a miscarriage (my first pregnancy) in December this past year and I am worried that I will miscarry again. My husband and I have been trying since we got the okay from the doctor to after the miscarriage. It is so hard to be in the middle, not knowing. I'd rather just know one way or the other, although I really hope to be pregnant. Thanks for the support.

i'm new here, but i have a crazy ? have you ever heard of getting a very faint positive, but by the end of the day you can't see it anymore? =

In repsonse to some of the questions recently posted - I have a period every 28 days without fail, but recently did not have one. Since my hubby and I are trying to get pregnant, I was elated and assumed I concieved. After one negative test after another, however, I got confused. I went to the doctor last Thursday - 16 days after my missed period. My doctor said I just didn't ovulate last month, and even people as regular as me have that happen sometimes. I'm 99% sure he's right, but he only did a urine test, so we'll see. I said all of that to say that what I have learned through all of this is: Many women get a positive test the day of their missed period; quite a few have to wait up to a week after their period before they get a positive test. If more than a week has gone by, there's still a chance, but only a small chance. The good news is, if you are pregnant and it takes a while to show up, it does NOT mean the baby is not healthy or more likely to miscarry. God bless you all - I will let you know if by some chance I find I am pregnant, but for the sake of my emotions, I've accepted that I'm not.

wapfu24 - That is wierd!! I haven't heard of that, but I would just suggest that you try testing again in a day or two. Let us know how it all turns out!
