hi, ladies... i've been googling around and came to this forum. i'm 8 days late now. i was pregnant last year, but due to some complications had to abort it. and eversince the abortion i have a very regular menstrual cycle (29 days). about 2 and a half weeks after my first day of the last period, my boyfriend and i had several unprotected intercourse. last week i had an infection in my urinary tracts and had to take antibiotics for 3 days. i've been told that antibiotics won't throw your cycle off but an infection might, although other sources said that only a very serious infection (like eg. yeast inf.) can mess up ur cycle. however no one can tell me how long my body will take to get my normal cycle going again. now i don't know if the delay is simply an after-math of the infection or i'm pregnant. i've been having this dull aching on my lower back, my breasts aren't swollen, but i notice each day they get more and more sore, and i get irritated easily lately and i'm very tired. and today in the morning, i had abdominal cramps. i've done 2 hpt's and both showed negative. the thing is, i kinda want to get pregnant... especially after what happened last year. perhaps someone has had a similar experience and can share it with me? thanks a lot! -leonie

oh btw... my doctor's appointment is on wednesday next week, but i can't sit still...

Hi guys im really hoping someone might be able to give me some advice as im getting really down about it.

First of all its reasuring not to know im alone in this and hope we can keep eachother updated on how things turn out.

Im currently 10 days late on my period. Im taking the micro pill so today i should be on my 10th new pack of pills. I took a urine test to the hospital wednesday morning (1 week late) which came back negative. Was this to early. Just yesterday my boobs got very sore and ive been feeling very tired but these symtoms have only just started. Also I have never missed a period since starting them at 14 and im 23 now.

Also is it still possible to get pregnant during this time? Ive not seen a period for 10days so am I ok to have unprotected sex or use precaustions either way me and my boyfriend would love a baby just didnt know if I could still conceive in this time.

Would be so grateful if you had any info for me and your suggestions of how likely I am to be pregnant at the moment and if I should still not drink and take vitamins.

I would like to say a few things:

1) Your most fertile days to get pregnant are during ovulation but if you have unprotected sex then you should be prepared for the possibility that it could lead to a pregnancy. There are too many variables to consider to categorically say that you will not get pregnant on this day or that.

2) Stress can cause the same symptoms that some women experience when pregnant. PMS can also cause very similar symptoms. I have mistaken both for pregnancy multiple times. Partially because we've been trying for a year and I've been late by 2 weeks once and 10 days once. Neither was because of pregnancy. Once was stress induced and once was caused by my thyroid meds.

3) If you feel like your pregnant but keep getting negative HPT results, then like downbutnotOUT said, go and ask your doctor for more comprehensive tests like a Beta or Ultrasound.

I just know that it's impossible not to stress about this stuff but the more you try to relax the better it will be for your mental wellbeing, your physical wellbeing and if you are indeed pregnant, then your little bean's wellbeing too. :)

Thank you for your comment as you can proberly tell this is very weired for me as ive never missed a period before but me and my bf wernt careful during the middle of my cycle but there again a baby would be a blessing to us both so we are both hoping I am.

Its the not knowing which is the worse which I know many of the other woman can relate to. Im not even two weeks late yet so hoping my hgc's are still not developed enough to detect which is why my docotr will not give me a blood test. He said the chances are 50/50 really so keep testing and take care but the hpt's are so expensive and I keep geting dissapointed.

Was wondering can I still get pregnant during this time im ive not come on? SO say could I concieve tomorrow?

About the pregnancy tests being too pricey: you can go to many fertility acupuncture clinics and they have medical grade HPTs for like $1.30 each. They also many times will have OPKs for the same amount. You don't have to be a patient, you can just purchase products from them and walk out. Many of them also sell Pre-Seed and Pre'. Just an FYI for all you ladies out there :)

Or you can go to the dollar store where they are.... a dollar! IF you haven't had your period, then I doubt you are ovulating right now.

im 12 days late and still getting neg results. i did spot for 2 days about 5 days after period was meant to come but so so light i didnt have to wear a pad. my breasts are a little sore but not much. so glad to find this site to know im not the only one going through this.

hey all I am in the same boat as all of you. I haven't had a period since march 31st... and here it is May 18th. I have taken 5 pg tests, had 4 negative and 1 that had a spotty sign in that had 3/4 of a plus sign.... so yeah...I have gone through this torture before. When I was pregnant with my son, who is 16 months old, i had a positive test and then many negative tests in the beginning. Then i had a "period" so i thought that i either wasnt pregnant to begin with or i miscarried... then i got no period after that so i went to the local health dept. and come to find out i was 4 months prego... and when i went to the doctor to follow up i found out that my son was supposed to be a twin but we lost it. so yeah... I am hoping to find out soon whether or not i am expecting baby number 4... I am anxiously waiting to see the dr.

Hi guys just an update on my situation.

Got bad white discharge yesterday (when I say bad I mean bad as well). So I called my doctor and got an emergency appointment.

Took a urine test again and came up negative and he said the chances of me being pregnant were very small. Anyway he took blood tests on that same evening for me testing for everything as I am 15 days late now. Got to wait a few days for my results.

However I went to another doctor this morning (who has been dealing with my case) He said the urine the other doctor used is not correct it was 6 in the evening and ust a dribble which would give a negative result just after two weeks. He then said the blood test in which he has taken is not one which would detect early pregnancy (at this point was so so confused). He said normally babies dont make themselves known until they are 3 months. However it is unusual for a positive test not to show after two weeks but does happen for many women sometimes your lucky and other times you have to wait longer.
He also said it may not show in the blood either which is really really uncommon but also happens.

His advice to me I will give to you. Look after yourself as you are pregnant until you have af or another condition has been diganosed. But you should see a doctor after a week of missing your period just incase there is something else wrong. Ths way they can keep it on recored and start tests for you to put your mind at ease.

I know it horrible not knowing and getting negative results but at least the doctors can find out whats wrong. But everyone with negative tests and no af could still be pregnant until you get another diganosation.

I will keep you all updated. At the moment 15 days late, no sign of af no strong signs of being pregnant, 6 negative urine results 2 at the doctors, blood just been taken waiting on results.

I am now 16 days late on my period. The last time i had my period was on the 8th april. I took 2 urine tests at the doctors. The first urine test was done on the 13th May, came out negative. I was adviced to take another pregnancy test a week later, which i did. I took a urine test again on the 20th May in the morning, which also came out negative. I explained some of the symptons i was having and that i am usually not late on my period. Unfortuneatly both the female doctors i visited were not very helpful. They told me i shouldn't rely on the symptons i am experiencing and that because i got 2 negatives i am definately not pregnant. I still 'feel' pregnant. I am going to go back to the doctors in 2/3 weeks time if i don't get on my period to get a blood test done. Anyone experienced similar situation and have any updates?..x

I know what you are going through and its not nice its very fustrating and worrying all at the same time.

It is so unusal to be pregnant after neg tests but if youve been on the pill I heard that this can happen.
After a few weeks with no af you would of thought something was wrong. However 2 weeks is still very early.

Ive not got my results back fromthe blood tests just as yet but as soon as I do I will let you know!! just look after yourself incase you are carrying.

Aleesha411--I have never been 16 days late, but I was 14 days late just recently...then AF came. My problem was all caused by some thyroid hormone meds that I recently started taking for hypothyroidism. I have heard that lots of women get false negatives that early on though. I would keep postitive! :) My co-worker didn't get a positive HPT until 21 days late. It happens. I hope that your situation ends happy with a BFP!! (big fat positive)

Update on my situation: I went to have the HSG done (dye test to make sure there are no blockages, fibroids, tumors, cysts, etc.) in my uterus and fallopian tubes. I came out 100% clean, and if there was anything then the dye flushed it out. So next month I believe I should be starting Clomid to help us get pregnant! Getting the Hypothyroidism under control...1 year of trying down, and hopefully this coming year will be lucky for us!!

Idntown-- Thanks for the reassuarance, I hope i do get a BFP. I always wanted to be a young mum, it's just all too exciting. I am glad you are good. The doctors thought i might have thyroid problem, luckily it's just anaemia. I've been perscribed Ferrous Sulphate which i am currently taking and need to continue taking for 6months. Look after yourself and i really hope you do get lucky this year.

Reading through these comments have made me feel a little better in my situation. My period was due 5 days ago, and I've *never* been late. Correction: I was late 1 time, and that was when I was pregnant with my son.

I've taken multiple HPT, and they're all negative. It's driving me batty, because I'd just like to know if I am or if I'm not, you know? At this point, I would just like this situation RESOLVED. It seems dumb to be freaking out after only 5 days, but I'm almost 28... that's 16 years of living with my menstrual cycle, and the only time I've been late is when I was last pregnant.

I feel like one of those hysterical women in the old-fashioned times who needs smelling salts---because I feel pregnant, but it keeps telling me I'm not--- so if I'm *not* pregnant, then that means I'm imagining all these symptoms. How FRUSTRATING.

I would love to see updates on some you guys' stories... so many people just disappear after posting--- How many of you gals were pregnant? Did AF visit? I'd love to know.
